Great ambience, sprawling brewery right next to hop farms. The day I went, they had an event to raise awareness and money for ALS. Tried their hazy IPA and sour beers. Both were really good and the cost to fill growler was quite fair. The Mexican taco truck served up some amazing street tacos - meat, shrimp and mushroom tacos were all incredibly tasty. Will be back for sure when I'm passing through Yakima next. read more

Had a great time. Stopped in while exploring the Yak from Tri Cities. We thought there was also a restaurant here but there is not. Either way we had a few beers and caught the end of a Seahawks game, which they lost, but does not affect my review of this brewery. The staff was very friendly to us. My wife bought a sweater with their logo and the nice beer pouring person running the place. I guess my only complaint is that the beer prices were slightly more than what you pay in the store. When we walked in, it was so pretty. The patio was so aesthetically pleasing, and family friendly. There were yard games and card games to play, and a covered area that connected to an uncovered area to sit in. The service was great, and met all our needs. Our food came from a bbq food truck, though the truck options vary from time to time. We decided to try the loaded baked potato with brisket. It was AMAZING it looked beautiful, and the brisket was so tender and it had melted cheese with sour cream and butter. The experience was so nice, we will be back soon for sure. This place has been around for a while and by tasting several of their beers you can tell they know what they're doing. They ship beers and have handles all over the state. They're flagship area 41 beer was a little hoppy but nothing ridiculous but still had great smooth finish. The staff was excellent. The location is has heaters on the inside to keep you warm. Although it was dark when I showed up the grounds looked very pretty from what little I saw. The restrooms are super clean in the parking is easy. read more

If you're in Yakima, Bale Breaker is a must stop since it's beer is almost in any bar or restaurant you stop in. I had the mango IPA, it definitely had a strong mango flavor and wasn't overly hoppy. This is a dog friendly establishment. Depending on weather we can sit under a covered area or in open air with our friends who have a dog. Food options are by way of food trucks and not scheduled for every evening. Bale Breaker has a calendar that you can check to see if there will be anything to eat. Since this is Yakima, more often than not the food trucks will be Mexican cuisine. Sometimes there is barbecue and occasionally you can score an evening when non-Mexican cuisine is scheduled. I was very excited when a food vendor was scheduled who offered hot dogs and corndogs. I wish this local crew could entice one of the Thai food trucks that visit their Seattle location to come to Yakima. I don't drink beer and always bring my own soft drink or water bottle. However, husband and friends are big fans of Hazy, High Camp, and Top Cutter. read more

Bale Breaker Brewing has one of the best breweries I've been to. The tap room is located adjacent to the brewery, and also next to their own hop field. That is so rare in the brewery Market these days, as most breweries Outsource their hops from other places. They have a different food truck for every day of the week and Source Local Foods and ingredients to go with the menu du jour. The vibe is laid-back, but clean and modern. I would recommend any of these beers but as an IPA fan I really like the bottom cutter double IPA. 8.5 ABV 100 ibus a true hop lovers Delight! They do Growlers to go and also have March. A patio for dogs as well as a cornhole and hula hoop area for fun on the lawn. A must stop for any beer lover traveling through for sure! read more

In the lovely clubhouse, down to sunny gravel road deep in the heart of hop country, exists what may be the most inspiring little story of a brewery in the world! Bale Breakers is a brewery built on a foundation of hop knowledge. The current owners are fourth generation hop farmers and have grown up around the stuff. The brewery was born out of an MBA final project and has grown to be what is currently a brand that is defining IPAs! The Yakima Valley currently produces roughly 80% of the countries hops and almost a third of the hops in the worlddash we're pretty sure that the beers coming out of this spot rank among the best as well! They're doing some great things with the field 41, the topcutter and bottomcutter IPAs, the myriad of other IPAs and pale ales that they offer, and my personal favorite the dormancy breakfast stout. I was pretty impressed with how good the stout was given their expertise in lighter beers - it has great body, a really nice coffee flavor and goes down very smooth. Most weekends when the tasting room is open they have live music and/or food trucks around. In the summertime, there's a lot of room for kids to run around and play as well. It's a great spot, run by some really awesome people who are doing great things with beer! It's a phenomenal spot for the valley and one that everybody needs to try. read more

Purchased jerky and sausages from a roaming vendor that was great to have on our trip. I loved the atmosphere there. Would love to go back, but it's over a thousand miles from my home. Simcoe, citra, ahtanum and mosiac hops provides citrus, fruity and flora bites and lingers in the throat the way I like it. 6.8% ABV 70 IBU! Nice tasting room! Rotating food trucks by the patio! "Discovered" Bale Breaker by happenstance as their massive hop logo and delivery truck caught my eye while passing thru town. The grain silo confirmed my suspicion.....wow! A new brewery out here?!? I noticed during the weekdays they open at 3, but a kind soul lugging spent grains on a forklift asked if he could help! Well Heck ya! So I asked if I could get a sixer of their amazing Top Cutter IPA and he kindly obliged, ran into the brew house and out he came with the goods. Combining the friendly greeting with the crisp IPA and bountiful aroma, was the pristine grounds, immaculate facility and enhancing proximity to the hop yard on the adjacent lot. If the experience could be THIS good, (all from the parking lot) how good will the next visit be, INSIDE?? Can't wait and thanks again for being so accommodating and service oriented. Bale Breaker has an excellent tap room located in the outskirts of the Yakima area. Depending which route you take you can also go by hop farms that can really get you in the mood for drinking craft beer! Bale Breaker's taproom is spacious and a perfect place to come to on a hot summer day. They also have patio seating too! Bale Breaker has beers that are their regular beer selection that is usually on tap and then small batches as well. They have a very interesting beer that is a Mango IPA but alas when I was there it was unavailable. So my selection was the Topcutter IPA which was pretty good. On my tour through the Yakima area and exploring it's craft breweries I didn't necessarily think that Bale Breaker was the most unique in recipe concerning that IPA I ordered however the location and atmosphere boosts my rating for the place up to four stars.
