Awesome vietnamese food! HUGE dining room, and great customer service from our waiter! The Vegetarian Pho and Summer Rolls were amazing... I finished the whole bowl! Only downside is that they deep fry their tofu, but if you want you might be able to ask them to prepare it differently. Also, their summer rolls were amazing, but I think perhaps a bit pricey--you only get two. I won't get them again, probably. This was my second visit -- I stay in Chincoteague but this is worth the trip! I had the squid with basil -- very spicy and delicious -- just as I did on my first visit. Shared it with a friend and also tried the rice noodles with seafood which was good and very mild. Atmosphere is very casual. Dnner at 8 is late so there wasn't a large crowd and service was quick and attentive. Compares very well with the best Vietnamese.restaurants at home. read more

Viet Taste is one of the top restaurants in Salisbury. I have eaten here since it started as Megan's Noodle House and now Viet Taste with the newest owners. The menu is varied and includes traditional Vietnamese dishes and some other Asian meals. Everything is made to order and honestly I've never had a mediocre meal here. The staff and kitchen are accommodating and will vary any of their dishes and soups to my preference. Portions are always full and sometimes more than expected. The only criticism I can muster is sometimes the service is slow as the kitchen gets too many orders but it only becomes an issue when I'm pressed for time. A beer and wine license would also be helpful but they also encourage BYOB to make up for it. All in all, a real jewel for this area. read more

Amazing vegetarian pho, best I've had! All the apps I've had are amazing too. I didn't personally like the beef pho, but that may have been my bad for the kind I ordered. Trust and believe, trying to dine in Salisbury leaves limited options, especially if you're in the market for some good food. BUT, this place tops the charts...and then some! I just moved in as a freshman at Salisbury University and I was very excited to find a Vietnamese restaurant so close to campus! I used to work as a waiter in one back home so I know a lot about the ins and outs of the trade. The exterior was decorated with some lovely flowers and coming in there was a lot of Buddhist iconography as well as the usual Vietnamese decorations, although the restaurant felt a little sparse in decoration. The biggest thing I noticed when I came in was the muggy, sweltering heat. For such a hot day the restaurant was surprisingly toasty, which is great for a chilly winter night (especially with soup) but was quite annoying in early September. A couple fans would be greatly appreciated. Me and my friends were invited to sit where we wanted to which would be all right if the waiter had his hands full but there was only two or so other tables with people sitting at them. Although I prefer to seat myself I also prefer to know that the waiter is actively involved with our group, which sadly was not the case. In fact, 'uninvolved' probably sums up the waitstaff there. I didn't see either of my two waiters actually observe us to see if we were doing well, which made us have to go up for our check at the end. They did the bare minimum in the 'sit-drink-appetizer-food-hows everything going-check' process, but it was late in the day and the staff looked somewhat overworked. The table itself looked like it had barely been cleaned. The sauce containers were sticky, messy and had probably been sitting there most of the day, in addition there were fruit flies buzzing around the table which wasn't appealing at all. The silverware was a nice touch but the chopsticks were sitting next to the sauces in a container. Aesthetics aside, the food of the place was probably it's strongest point. Me and a friend each had a bubble tea which came out in a massive beer mug and tasted excellent. There was a lot of it too, much more than I expected which was great. For an appetizer I had some summer rolls which came with 3 whole shrimps rolled up in each one. These also tasted great and were the right temperature to go with the peanut sauce. The big meal, the chicken pho, had a mouthwatering aroma and was piping hot. It came with some bean sprouts and other seasonings to customize with and it was delightful. Like the bubble tea there was a lot of it, so much that I couldn't finish it and had to take some home, so I had dinner for the next night too :D Overall the restaurant succeeds where it counts- the food was delicious, plentiful and I only spent $17 that night. I'd give it a 5 star just for that but the restaurant experience simply wasn't up to par. If the restaurant was just a little cleaner and the waitstaff were a little more involved with their customers and if there were some fans in the building it'd be awesome but the bare essentials are more than covered. I look forward to returning here with friends as the years go on and enjoying the excellent food. P.S.: The restaurant is really university-friendly and accepts the Gull Card, so bonus points for that! read more

When I first went to Viet Taste I had no idea what to order as its a large menu with ethnic food I wasn't familiar with. A friend recommended I try the Clay Pot dish and it was OUTSTANDING. I have been back many, many times and always order a variation of the clay pot. I've tried a few other things, and they were good as well. Authentic, delicious and fresh. read more

I was the one and only customer in the restaurant, and still the server (owner?) managed to 1) get my order wrong, 2) protest that she didn't get it wrong (she showed me her pad--"see? I wrote it down!"--um, yes, but you wrote down the wrong thing), 3) never once check back on my table, or even look my direction 4) disappeared for a long time, leaving dirty plates in front of me, and 5) when I finally got her attention to get my check, she leaves it and again disappears. Tired of waiting for her to come pick up my credit card, I finally go up front and find her sitting with employees, eating their dinners. She looked annoyed that she had to get up and go run my credit card. As a former waitress, I have great empathy for servers and understand the things that can go wrong, and I've never once not left any tip at all, until now. It was that absurdly bad. I was disappointed to find that Viet Taste was not only less adept at service (as in, one guy, one gal, only 5 tables of people, and yet somehow we had to ask repeatedly for our drinks, utensils and plates.) but the food was disappointing. While the summer rolls were tasty, the peanut sauce was only okay.Could that have been because we told the waiter we had to be gluten-free? Perhaps, but somehow it strikes me that a peanut sauce can be yummy without regular soy sauce in it (which has wheat). So we added siracha to ours, and it was better. Also, a squid salad we ordered was only a "salad" insofar as the MOUND of sliced red onions on which 6 or 7 pieces of squid resided was raw. No other vegetables, not even cucumber, which would have made a much better "salad" than JUST masses of red onion and a few basil leaves. For hot entrees, one of us ordered the seafood combo on rice noodles, then what we got was a meat combo (one shrimp) on rice noodles. We had a time issue so we just accepted it rather than send it back, but....seriously?? So I would strongly urge Viet Taste to UP THEIR GAME. Treat your customers well, have some respect and pay attention to the quality of your service and to your dishes. Or they won't return and spend their money. Honestly, it was a Saturday evening, so there should have been plenty of people, but it was almost empty. Now I understand why. read more

Well, we didn't eat here, so this is not a review on the food. Walked in to a musty lobby filled with plants. Sat in an empty restaurant with horribly dirty slip covered-booths (which slid right off when you sat down), food splattered all over the wall, and a disgusting menu which we were scared to touch. Waited an hour for food, was barley acknowledged for the wait.. Saw other guests walking in, getting sat and shortly after being served. Eventually got so angry and tired of waiting, we told the server to not even attempt bringing the food out, and that we were leaving. The owners must be monitoring yelp because the service was great. They greeted us right away and the food was fast. The owner's son checked on us too. Pho soup was phenomenal, great flavors -- some of the best we've ever had. Thai basil was a little brown but bean sprouts and jalapeño were fresh. The Vietnamese owner makes the most amazing Korean kimchi in house. Spring rolls were nothing special. I really wanted to try the Korean BBQ but we couldn't eat anymore. This has been by far one our favorite restaurants for the past year! We eat in or carry out each week. The food is great - especially the Pho and Pad Thai. We are thankful that this is not a chain restaurant (as Salisbury is chock full of them) As for the service we recognize again that this not a corporate chain- it is a place with personality and so what if you have to wait 2 more minutes....... As a vegan, I did look at their menu closely. I got the veggie pho and once I added soy sauce and Sriracha and let it sit, it was very good. While that sat, I ate their amazing vegan fried rice. I did have to specify no egg, and it came with crispy tofu cubes and veggies and it's probably the best fried rice I've had since Hawaii. I told Chef Dong how good the rice was and he was so happy to hear it. His wife was there and she said she puts "4 or 5 vegetables to make the broth." The broth is delicate, not super flavorful, but I was just glad it wasn't plain hot water, and once it was doctored up, it was comforting to have a nice big bowl of pho with veggies and crispy tofu in it. My friend recommended the Braised Gluten with Pepper, which tasted a lot like the Beef Broccoli of my childhood, very good, tender and rich. I think dishes V4 through V10 are vegan and then more can be made vegan by omitting something. Am so glad to have found this place! read more
