Sadly this place missed the mark. The place looks nice and the staff was nice as well, but that's where the good things end. It's pretty pricy but that wouldn't matter if the food was worth it. But it wasn't. We ordered Mongolian Beef and Szechuan Beef, and it should have been called Mongolian Onion and Szechuan Vegetables. The "beef" was laughably missing. There was probably 3 Tablespoons of shredded beef for each dish. For almost $40 with tip for lunch for 2, this wasn't acceptable. I had high hopes but we won't be back. read more

It was my birthday and I thought I'd get myself a celebratory cocktail while I waited for my order which I never got an opportunity to place. I was given a menu at the cash register and then sat at the bar. Young man behind the bar on his cell. I had to interrupt him to ask about the cocktails. I asked him the ingredients in one and I could not comprehend his accent, which never happens to me. I asked about another and he was clueless. He asked the lady at the register then tried to tell me about it and then turned and totally ignored me. So did the young lady. No, have you decided? For years my husband and I loved the Ginger House, but since his death I have not been there.....until two days ago. I placed an order online for an egg roll, General Tso's Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp. I picked it up at the required time and it was totally cold. (I live less than two miles from the restaurant.) The chicken was so tough I could not eat it, I ordered fried rice with it, but it was regular rice. The Kung Pao Shrimp had only five miniscule shrimp and the vegetables were basically raw. The egg roll was good. I ended up throwing $41 worth of food in the garbage. Will I ever go there again....a resounding NO! read more

Service is always very slow, seems like no one has a definitive job until someone walks in & everyone scrambles to figure out how to deal with customers. We were seated and served relatively quickly, but when we were waiting for the check, we had to ask a different server to get it for us as we hadn't even seen our waitress in 10+ minutes. Service could be much better especially since it's never super busy. The food is very, very average chinese food. We got spring rolls (meh) and vegetable fried rice (double meh) which was mushrooms, corn, carrots, broccoli, and cabbage. It wasn't impressive at all, barely any soy sauce on the rice so it tasted like slimy nothingness. We paid $26 plus tip.... which seems really high for what we got. I ordered $85.00 worth of GARBAGE. Oops I take that back. The sugar donuts were good. I ended up paying $20.50/ ($10 extra for nuttn) for what Ginger house calls shrimp fried rice with 3 times xtra shrimp and sprouts. 12 small shrimp is what they we got, total and no sprouts at all. Something they call spring roll's, I ordered egg roll's. Sesame chicken tasted like soap and did not look at all like chicken. I also ordered a pork fried rice and it looked like something I cant even explain. Sushi was OK but didn't get the amount that I usually get for the same order. A FEW MORE ISSUES. I am staying in Salisbury on business. I have come here twice now in two days with my co-workers. The Chinese food is amazing and so filling. We had orange chicken, onion soup, wonton soup, kung pow chicken, egg rolls and there fried dumplings. All the food has been amazing and very tasty. Good price and good portion. The only sad spot I had was with the sushi. The rice is a bit stiff and not as sticky and moist as I usually like it. The spicy tuna was the best I had of the two I got. The eel roll was very little eel and with the rice it was only so so. The food is still good but again it could of just been that batch made. read more

Went here after it was open for two weeks and tried out 2 sushi rolls so I could test the freshness in the fish. I was blown away with the first bite. No fishy smell, no mush texture or odd coloring. It was perfect. Usually I go to Ikebana but I can say this place is now my new fave! It's beautiful inside and very friendly staff. I also love how they don't charge for extra sauces like some places. They don't have a problem customizing a order for you either. This place was terribly. The restaurant itself looked recently redone, and the area was definitely very clean. The shrimp dishes were terrible - in fact they all looked to have the same ingredients (shrimp, celery, and carrots) - and were just seasoned differently. I got the pepper shrimp, expecting it to be similar to a pepper steak entree, only to find that they literally steamed some of that shrimp concoction and sprinkled black pepper on top. I ended up sending that dish back to the kitchen. The manager and waitress both insisted that these dishes were good, and that each restaurant makes things differently. While I understood that, the food definitely was lacking. It seems that the sushi here is popular, so if I do ever return, I'll perhaps give that a go. read more

The first time we tried this was about 3 months ago when we were in Salisbury for job interviews. It was really good, especially compared to the sad Asian food we were having to endure in Utah. We have now moved here and tried it again today and once again they hit it out of the park. The Basil Beef is delicious and I highly recommend it. Actually everything we have tried has been delicious and of good quality. The only thing I didn't love was the egg roll but I think that was mostly because it was really different than what I am used to for an egg roll. It wasn't bad just wasn't my thing. This is my husband's FAVORITE place to go, its definitely in my top 3. They have the best onion soup in town and the sushi is always really good. They have a good specials if you can get there for lunch. Otherwise, the prices are still good. I usually spend maybe $20 for an entire meal. You can eat there or order takeout which is nice. This establishment has no worry about anyone's food allergies!!! Have called and asked more than once to have item's in separate containers. Yet on different occasions have had issues with them combining everything into one. Would highly recommend everyone to CHECK your food when you pick it up!! This is not a place to get Chinese food, despite the outward appearance of being a primarily Chinese restaurant; I would describe the Chinese dishes as terrible. They have okay Japanese style things - the sushi at least seems fine, though on the expensive side. The Thai things are probably a little better than Chinese, but not good. When I went in group who ordered different things, the main Chinese dish my wife and I ordered was mapo tofu, for which we had low expectations, as I very rarely find real mapo tofu in America, but it was soft tofu with frozen peas and carrots in an disgusting onion flavored brown gloop (which was most of the mass of the dish) - we got it because it was the only thing with tofu, which tells you how vegetarian friendly the place is. Another person with us ordered basil chicken, which I guess falls under Thai food. It had two pieces of basil, a few pieces of chicken, in brown gloop similar to our gloop.
