Probably one of the worse places I have been. The same song played over and over again. It was like a low drone. The egg roll was good but about half the size of a spring roll. I got the hibachi steak. The portions were very small and the steak was very tough. When I complained I asked the waitress to replace it with chicken. She took the steak and returned with the check and removed my meal. I paid for my wife's meal a Sushi roll. Never had such bad service and food. read more

AND THE WINNER IS.... SAKURA! (in the best sushi buffet in Salisbury category, that is.) There's 2 restaurants in Salisbury that offers sushi buffet. It took a while to figure out which one we like better, but as time moved on one clear winner emerged. Sakura. The other place is Dadamibang a little further down the street. Originally it was a close race but as time passed, Dadamibang took a turn for the worse, so that made our decision easier. While you can get the buffet option both for lunch and dinner at Sakura, Dadamibang only does sushi buffet for lunch on Mon-Fri and Sat for dinner. Please see the review for it to compare. Initially we were torn, Sakura was great in that the sushi buffet is MADE TO ORDER. That's right, a buffet that's made to order! This clearly was a huge plus, while the traditional notion of a buffet is to place all your options out for your picking pleasure, this was not ideal for sushi, because the sushi would have to be prepared in advanced, the rice got cold or worse, cold and hard. Unless of course you had a super staff and a buffet that was constantly getting refreshed. Plus Sakura had appetizers, what's so great about that you say? Well, it's all you can eat for lunch plus once again, it's made to order. So your dumplings are hot and crispy instead of lukewarm and greasy. On the other hand Dadamibang had Nigiri sushi... arrgghhhh what to do? Where to go? The key word there is HAD, maybe they still have it on Sat. for dinner, I don't know. All I know is that the weekday buffet in terms of what's offered has gone down in quality, and they offer almost no nigiri last time only tuna and salmon, and you almost had to beg them to make it. I don't want to have to feel like I'm asking for something extra when you had offered it, just tell me you no longer have it. Anyway, back to Sakura, with all the factors thrown in, plus having the $1/sushi until 7:00pm you win again!!! read more

I feel bad writing a bad review, but I would want to know the truth. It.Was.Horrible. I can't call it sushi...we have honestly had better sushi at the grocery store...not kidding. The spicy tuna rolls were not real tuna, it was like minced from a can. Also had the General tos chicken and it was horrible as well. 4 rolls and the general tos and fried rice, all in the trash. When we drove up, there was a group of men arguing and 2 of them were homeless, so on either side of the door was their living area. It was scary for me and my daughter to be honest. The people in the restaurant were very nice though...take out only. Super disappointed to say the least. I'm surprised by the good reviews. Maybe if you've never had sushi it *might* be ok, but just don't go if your a sushi snob like my husband and I. Btw, we are all sick to our stomachs a few hours later :( read more

Very nice staff. The waiter was by himself with a full house. He did his best to be attentive. We came in at the tail end of lunch so we ate most of our meal alone. The sushi was very tasty. After our initial rolls, we ended up getting the Ninja Roll (pictured). The presentation was very impressive! The roll was also very good. We haven't eaten at the other sushi places in town, but I can tell you that it was definitely worth the trip from Easton, MD. They gave us a $5 gift card because it was our first time eating there. All the positive reviews on this restaurant are miss leading. My friend & I went in yesterday afternoon for their all you can eat sushi. I ordered vegetable rolls while my friend ordered fish based rolls. Right off the bat the rice was... crunchy, which made the rolls hard to eat. After only eating one roll my friend knew something was wrong with her rolls, I smelled them & it was so obvious the fish had gone bad. The "server" came over and asked why my friend wasn't eating her sushi, she then LAUGHED in our faces and told us we would still have to pay for the bad sushi (mine was fine). The server never offered to let her try knew rolls or give a discount, it's like they know their sushi is bad. We were the only table in there & now I know why... read more

Smaller than it looks from the outside, but cozy. Nice decor and warm lighting. Started with Japanese tea to drink, or at least we wanted to, but it took forever to get to our table. We got there about 20 minutes after they opened for lunch, so I guess they hadn't put a pot on yet, or something. It struck us as inauthentic, being very light green in color, and very light tasting. Beautiful tea cups, however. I had the vegetable tempura appetizer (carrot, eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, sweet potato, broccoli, and onion). It was my first time trying it. I wouldn't order it again, as I found the dish bland but that might be how all tempura is. The dipping sauce is very flavorful and does a lot to help to make the tempura edible. My girlfriend had the miso soup to open with; she said it was good. The sushi was okay. I found the seaweed chewy and I thought the rolls were too loose. Both my girlfriend and I had issues with some of the rolls falling part as we picked them up to eat. I'm no sushi connoisseur (this is only my third time having it), but I prefer my seaweed firm and my rolls tighter. The prices were reasonable, however, so I'll consider this place a viable occasional alternative to the pricier Sushi De Kanpai. I should add that the presentation of my rainbow rolls was lovely. My girlfriend is a vegetarian, and this place does have vegetarian sushi options available. Dessert was good. My girlfriend ordered a fried banana (also very nicely presented), which she enjoyed. The service was attentive, but not annoying (granted, we were the only ones there at the time). Our waitress answered all our questions about the different dishes we were thinking of trying. Easily the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The beef and noodles the beef was like rubber and tasteless the noodles were good ate them threw out the rest. Also had pork fried rice which was also tasteless and extremely dry also thrown away. I have been in the restaurant several times. There is a woman that appears to be the one in charge and has what appears to be her kids helping her. Last night we entered the restaurant. There were 2 tables seated with 2 persons at each table. There was a kid playing on a computer sitting a table. There was someone making sushi and a woman walking around. I saw 2 men filling out the AYCE menus at their table. The lady came over to us after about 5 mins and sat us at a table. She placed 2 laminated menus in front of us. She never asked what we wanted to eat or drink. Ten more minutes go by and the lady comes back to the table. I asked her for the AYCE menus. She goes over to the counter and brings back two pens and two menus. She then tells us that all of her online orders will be filled before she fills any AYCE orders. We stood up and left. We have never been treated like this in a restaurant. I understand customer service, but people in front of you are just as important. My fav sushi place in salisbury. All you can eat sushi special is worth its weight is tasty fish. Its not the greatest sushi in the world but its very good and very very affordable. Okay I am back to 4 stars! After not going to Sakura for a very long time, we ventured out into the 95 degree heat to get our sushi fix. They have made some improvements: Newer AYCE sushi dinner menu for $19.95 with choice of appetizer (veggie tempura and calamari are great!), choice of 5 sushis (it's not stated that you can choose 5 sashimis, but we asked nicely and they accomodated us), and as many rolls as you want. There are more rolls available on both the "basic" and "special" parts of the menu. The quality has improved since the last time we were there. The flavors and amount of fish were better. Presentation is basic for the most part, although hubby got spicy scallop and spicy tuna sashimi in fancy little cucumber cups. A word of advice: although not written on the menu, specify to the waitress if you want 3 or 6 pieces at a time of the "basic" rolls, and 4 or 8 pieces at a time of the "special rolls". If you choose a smaller portion, you can sample more rolls! We ordered 4 rolls to share between the 2 of us, and we ended up with the larger amount of pieces. The box arrived and everything looked so yummy but was very disappointed when I bit into the beef. It was very bland! The sauce tasted jarred and not homemade. It was disgusting. The tempura was awesome. The California rolls were disappointing also. Not enough flavor even with soy and a lot of ginger. The service was great and speedy. Went here last night for Valentine's Day and got the all you can eat special for $16.95 which isn't bad. It was my first time going here and it did not disappoint me. It was affordable and the sushi was great. I also enjoyed their fried cheese wontons. It was the best cheese wontons I've had considering the fact that iced fried many cheese wontons from other places. Everything cost $18 without tip and I had a pretty filling meal. So I just went here with my boyfriend I absolutely love sushi and this is not the place to go for that. My sushi was warm, unlike sushi should be, the fish especially. My sushi rolls were falling apart, and the rice was horrible. All together the sushi was the worst I've ever had and I try new places and new types of sushi all the time. My boyfriend got general tso chicken and fried rice, the rice was funny tasting but the chicken was decent. It's been about 30 minutes and we both feel sick to our stomachs hopefully we didn't get food poisoning. Overall it's a very horrible place to go, especially for sushi. read more

Words cannot describe how amazing this place is. During my time at college, my friends and I went here almost every Sunday without fail to get their "all you can eat" sushi special. The food was fantastic, and their customer service has always been exceptional. There is a ton of options to choose from when picking the all you can eat special, and its a very good price ($14.80 with tax) The quality of the sushi is on par with several other more expensive places I have been too, and this is one of the few places that I will truly miss now that I have graduated. I live and work in the Salisbury area, and eat sushi frequently. When travelling, my wife and I even brave the infamous "airport sushi" restaurants just to get our fix. Last night for dinner, we were headed to our regular sushi place in town - but for some reason, they were closed. So, we jumped across the street to Sakura for the first time to see what it was like. The decor, seating arrangement, and lighting were all decent. I remember watching this place be renovated when they were moving in, so the place is new and looks clean. The tables, chairs, dishes, and cups were all tastefully selected. If they had gone much further with the decor, it would border on tacky and cartoon-ish. We started with hot tea (Japanese green), and spent at least 3-5 minutes analyzing the menu. They have an AYCE sushi system that is very different than another sushi place in town. At Sakura, you get a peice of paper with sections, categories, and checkboxes. The All-You-Can-Eat system here has limits on everything except the rolls. Each roll consists of 4-6 peices, and you can only order the rolls in their entirety, which means that if you want to try something new, you have to get 4-6 peices, which you may not like. In this respect, I prefer the traditional buffet style where you get to see it before you eat it - and you can take only one to see if you like it before getting more. Also, on the buffet-checklist, there's bold text stating something to the effect of "Each peice of sushi you waste is approximately $1.00". I can understand why this is here, but it's clearly there to induce a feeling of guilt for wasting food... but what if you're trying to be adventureous, and try a couple of rolls that you've never had before? You end up getting 8-10 peices that you don't want to eat, and then you're being wasteful... and reminded that each one is $1.00. You might think to yourself "maybe someone else at the table might like it if I don't". Well, there's another BIG BOLD line on the paper that says something like "Please cannot share". So, your choices here are to feel guilty for wasting $8-$10 of their money, or eat 8-10 peices of something you don't like. The prices were reasonable. The adult AYCE dinner buffet was $24, the lunch was $16, and kids get some other price... don't remember. My wife and I ended up getting the "Sushi boat for two" from the regular menu. This consisted of 16 peices of sushi, and 3 full rolls (I think). It was $33, and was well decorated and served. I am very satisfied with the Sushi Boat for Two at that price. As a side note, my two daughters were also with us, and they got the steak and rice kids' meal - which was white rice, mixed vegatables, and some kind of stir-fry steak cubes. I stole some of theirs - it was very good as well, but may not be great for a picky-eater-kid. The total bill for my family was about $55 (before tip), and we even took two small boxes home with us. read more

Went here for sushi with the Mrs. While the location is kind of small, their menu is rather large. Lots of great combinations, and reasonable prices. Ate the Miso Soup, Gyoza, Dragon Roll, Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Rock & Roll, and Salisbury Roll. All great choices and flavor combinations. Nice quaint place, we will be back! read more
