What? I haven't posted a review for this place yet? I've eaten at this restaurant ever since I was a child. My mom would bring me here and the food was always comforting. New location, expanded menu. Not a fan of their Chinese dishes but man is their vietnamese food delish! I get pho here like once a week. Customer service is exceptional. Tried for the first time yesterday. This is the most Americanized Viet/thai place I've ever been. All dining room help are American. It felt like I was in a abercomie and finch store. NOT A BAD thing, was just surprised. The food speaks for it self. I got the summer rolls which were good. Not to different from any other Viet resturant. But very good. The peanut sauce was a little thinner then most which is good. I had enough for both rolls. I then got the Pho. Very tasty and lots of meat. I tried to eat only the noodles at times and still got meat. Very good. Service is incredible. My server was on the ball, getting me what ever I needed. Great experience if your in York PA. Hunt this place down you won't be dissapointed. I returned the next day with a 50 dollar bill and tried more. Everything is top of the line. Definitely come down. read more

The first time I ever tried sushi was here at Viet Thai. I am not usually an adventurous eater, but I could not resist trying the dragon roll. I don't want to try any other sushi out there, this is it! The dragon roll has the perfect pairings in flavor and texture. I don't even like avocado, but I'll inhale that entire roll with it in there. The spring rolls are just like the ones I make with my family. The fried rice with Chinese sausage is the closest thing I have found anywhere that is the quality that my mother makes. I never leave without the mango sticky rice dessert. I had been dining at Viet Thai since they were downtown in York and the quality of food and service has never decreased over the last 4 years. Each time I visit, it gets better and better! I am Cambodian, love my Asian food and culture. I am a big fan of this restaurant for years, especially there Thai tea. Even when they were at a smaller place on Market st. On July 14th, we went for some Thai tea, dumplings, bird nest dish, and we sat at the sushi area. Sorry to say this but that day it was the worst. We order our usual Thai tea that look like it was diluted making it look more orange soda. I politely as the waiter, if we can get me different cup instead. After he check with supervisor, they brought us new ones! However it didn't look nor taste any different. All they did was put less ice and have more of the tea. Again there was no difference to the drinks! As we watied for our food to arrive, we notice the sushi counter were filled with food order that the waiters did not come for them. Even our shrimp tempura we order sat on the counter for while (keep in mind we were at the sushi bar) before it was serve to us. Than our next appetizer dish of pork dumpling, it was cold! we don't know how long it was sitting there before it was brought to our table. The last dish order, is called bird nest. It definitely did not come out like a bird nest! At least, this dish the favor was good. read more

The summer roll made me have horrible diarrhea for 3 days. My mom had to bring toilet paper to my house, it was that bad. There was a very strange radish in the box marked with the word "eat". I'm scared to death of you all. I won't come again ,the Thai food there is basically poison. read more

We have visited Viet Thai twice and had great experiences both times. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. The first time we went there, it was rather busy and we ended up sitting at the sushi bar. Met a business colleague here for a lunch meeting. I ordered the beef broccoli and it was excellent. The beef they used was a good cut. It was not fatty and rubbery like many other restaurants serving the same dish. They also have Thai and Vietnamese dishes on the menu which I can not comment; however, all the patrons in the restaurant seemed to be very pleased. My love for Asian flavors lead me to search out something near my new home. This place delivered high quality food that exceeded my expectations. However I think the service could be improved. The food was great! I have lived all over the world including 5 years in Asia and this place hit the mark. I ordered chicken satay, summer roll, and pho ban tai. Looking around I got the hint that the Thai items might be toned down for the American palette. Not sure why restaurants do this since the true flavors are delicious. So I chose dishes with simple ingredients and was not dissatisfied. They were a bit busy but I was seated right away at the sushi bar. It took a while for the waitress to take my order and she didn't check up after I ordered. Not a huge deal since the food was good. But I could have used a knife with the starters. The interior of the restaurant is well designed but got quite loud. If you was looking for a comfortable place with a friendly staff give them a try. read more

I love Thai food, and this place certainly didn't disappoint! I've heard great things about Viet Thai for sometime now, but haven't had the chance to swing by. Now that I've been, I can safely say that they do live up to their hype! My husband and I went on a double date here with friends. We made reservations and good thing we did because the place was totally packed! (It was a Friday at 6pm, after all). Between the 4 of us we ordered the chicken satay, pad Thai, seafood paella, and some kind of spicy curry bowl. Everything was so delicious! Everything was spicy, hot, and came out quick. Also, the prices are incredibly reasonable! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it's small and super crowded. Again, I went at peak time so I can't judge for the rest of the week... but I will definitely be returning soon! Lots of people had their children, but I'm not sure I would bring mine because it's tight spaced and my kids are feral sometimes. One more tip I wish I had known prior to venturing here is that this place is BYOB. And everyone in the place, except me, had a great bottle of wine! Shoke dee! read more

Used to visit VietThai in the old location and always loved it. This was my second visit to the new location. Last time I had the Pho (I love Pho!), and it is authentic and tasty. Today, we tried their new addition, the sushi bar. (Obviously they have branched out beyond Thai and Vietnamese). We had the Philly, spider, TNT, and rainbow rolls along with Miso and edamame. The fish tasted very fresh/ handled properly with great presentation. The edamame was not the best I ever had, but still good. Overall, we were pleased with our meal and I would recommend to try the sushi. read more

I love Viet Thai! They offer lots of vegan options. My favorite meal is a vegetable roll with a cup of lemongrass soup and a tofu summer roll on the side. The pad kee mau is a close second. I don't think I've ever eaten anything here that I didn't like. My daughter likes their sushi, chicken nuggets, & Mac & cheese. We always visit the kitties next door in the PetValu when we're finished. The prices are also pretty reasonable for Thai food. read more

Viet Thai is amazing! The staff are friendly and courteous and the food is out of this world! My kids loved the kid's sushi meal (not roll your own during peak hours) and my chicken curry stew was to die for (much appreciation to our awesome server Ivy for the recommendation!). The crab Rangoon were so-so but the fried rice was delicious! Hubby got the Shakey beef and cleared the plate! Yum! It's crazy busy on the weekends so like others I recommend making reservations. It's bYOB and a liquor store is conveniently located a few door up (can you get a better set up????). The wife and I had the Thai Chili Cheese Spring Rolls for an app and I could have had three more plates of them! Amazing! She had Teriyaki chicken (best ever) and I had Pad La Na (great) and neither of us could even come close to finishing. The portions were way bigger than expected with the low prices. Our party of 10 went there for lunch today and a waiter's tray titled as he was serving and all the full plates of food fell all over my husband covering him from head to toe with food-he had sauces, rice etc. Everywhere! Luckily he wasn't hurt by broken plates and hot food! All the members of the staff came running over to help clean up the mess. Everyone was so helpful and attentive and apologetic. We were quickly relocated to another table and fresh meals were brought out promptly The manager comped our entire bill! It was all handled very well. They even offered to pay for dry cleaning bills. We were thankful no one was hurt and we enjoyed the food and we will definitely try it again-hopefully with less drama next time! read more

I don't even know where to begin on the Viet Thai Cafe. The food was excellent to say the least. My kimchi beef fried my taste buds with a burning passion. My friends meals were also eloquently cooked and presented. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nothing less than beautiful, perfectly illuminated and laid out. The only stain on my experience was the piss poor service. My waitress was abrasive and uncaring for my every will and testament. I am torn inside. I would like to return to devour more of their excellent food. However, I don't know if I can deal with being treated like dirt, again. I just don't know if I can do it. What a whirlwind experience at Viet Thai Cafe. From the beautiful restaurant space to the absolutely delicious food, there are so many positives to take away. There was one negative that blighted our experience however. The mediocre service was a very unpleasant experience for us. Our server was not the friendliest and after our meal proceeded to take away our leftovers without asking if we would like a box. I missed out on an opportunity to bring my wonderful beef satay home with me. The server we had didn't seem to have that warm and bubbly personality you look for in a server. This server was definitely not someone who I could have a casual cup of coffee with and enjoy it. All in all, I enjoyed my meal quite a bit, but the service left something to be desired. read more
