Food is good, tastes just like it did when we traveled to Thailand in the military. It's our go to place for Thai food. I've tried another Thai restaurant in the area and it was subpar. Service is always fast and I love the older waitress who is there. The ambiance is a little cluttered but you look past that because the food is delicious. They don't have fountain soda but I hardly drink soda anyway. Bathroom is always clean. Just an all around good place to eat. read more

I have been eating here for 20 years. Even after moving out of state I make it a point a couple of times a year to order for my family in town. NEVER again. They have lost my business. I ordered appetizers and 5 meals over $150 in food to go. When I asked for soy sauce and hot sauce they insisted on charging me. The sauce would have been free if I sat at a table. When I shared that point she begrudgingly brought me 1 small sauce container for 5 meals and appetizers. I can't believe the pettiness and angst over something that would be free in the restaurant. FANTASTIC FOOD. WOW!! I was recommended this place by a friend. I really underestimated the quality of the food. I do think that they were heavy on the Soy sauce, but I still really enjoyed the meal. I got to taste the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Thai Curry and the Spicy Chicken Fried rice. I recommend all of them. Especially the Thai Curries. The service was quick, and they were proactive with serving extra rice to us Asians. If anyone is interested in fish tanks - they have a real cool large tank at their entrance with real Anemone and fish. Pretty cool. Love the place, will visit frequently. read more

The daughter of the owner was very unprofessional. She did not rectify our check after we informed her that there was hair found in my husband's food. She informed us that there were only men in the kitchen and that they all wear hairnets. She did not apologize for the hair in the food and her statement was very accusatory. My husband does not have any hair so it was not his hair. She never returned to our table to bring us a new check or the to go boxes we requested. After about 15 minutes, I had to speak with someone else to rectify our check. The daughter of the owner said she didn't know what needed to be removed from the check and that she could not void anything from the check even though I spoke with her regarding the issues. I told her that it would've been nice if she would've communicated with us instead of completely ignoring our table. She said "well I'm communicating now" but I had to come to the front to ask for as which was the only reason why communication happened. The service from her was unacceptable. Everyone else was nice and helpful. I will not be eating again from this establishment due to the entitled actions because of the daughter of the owner. read more

I enjoyed a nice meal at Bangkok Wok on a recent weekend. The restaurant is in a strip mall on Carlisle Pike, neat the Lowes store in Mechanicsburg. The interior is nicely decorated and there was guitarist/singer playing when we arrived at a very pleasant volume. There are many selections on the menu, though are described mainly in English and not the Thai name for those dishes. That's a nice touch for the first time visitor. Thai food can be notoriously spicy but the food at Bangkok Wok is offered with a variety of spice levels. The servers will be glad to explain the differences and help you choose. No bar here and I didn't ask if they were BYOB as I usually just stick to water---and plenty of it LOL--when enjoying Thai cuisine. I would definitely come back in a heartbeat. I love the food there; it is also homemade! I love how the fried rice tastes, it is so good! I could never make that at home! That is part of the reason why I love Bangkok Wok, you can never duplicate what they make! The service is super good! I love the people there; they are very friendly, and they will give you dessert for free for a special day! (birthday, anniversary, etc.) The spot is so Thai-like! First of all, we're regulars at this restaurant. At least we were until we went full-time RVing. I pretty much get the same thing every time (though I've tried a lot of their gluten-free options) because it's just always a hands-down winner! The Mango Mango Curry is just the right balance of mild spicy & deep flavor. The portions are HUGE. I always take home the leftovers & usually can stretch it into 3 total meals - what I eat there, and leftovers for both hubs & I! They also have brown rice IF you ask for it, which is far superior to white IMHO. Their Thai Coffee is also delicious... and unfortunately on this visit - my last for a while - their coffeemaker was down so they couldn't make it. I also usually get that drink because their water has historically been horrid (I'm a water snob). I always take a backup water bottle just in case... though this time I was pleasantly surprised that their water was pretty good! They must be filtering it now. YAY! Then of course the main reason I eat there... the Mango Sticky Rice! OMG it's the perfect balance of sweet & sweeter. The mangos are always just perfectly ripe and the rice is just the perfect amount of milky goodness. Plus, it's gluten free as well, so that just makes my world much better. :) If you're in the area and don't mind the tables being tight together, especially if you can go there at a non-typical eating hour (we're usually there around 3pm to miss the rush), you'll experience amazing service and a great, cozy environment without the craze of people. They do get a ton of takeout orders around dinnertime (I mean a TON - they dedicate an entire row of tables to these orders), so keep that in mind as well with how long you'll wait for your food. Had a lovely date night dinner at Bangkok Wok. We arrived early and found plenty of table space available. The dining room is pretty tight with tables, but the staff was observing appropriate distance between diners. We started with crab rangoon and fried calamari. The rangoons were delicious- made with real crab and wrapped in thin, crispy wrappers. They were served with a sweet and sour sauce (fish sauce?) that went with them very well. The calamari were served with fried vegetables as well- almost an equal mix. The squid were tender and tasty but kind of on the large side. For our entrees we had Drunken Noodles with shrimp and Pad Thai with chicken. Both were excellent examples of pretty traditional dishes. My noodles were delicious and came with a ton of large shrimp. It was not too spicy. Service was good. Our server was wearing a mask and gloves. Everything came out quickly and we were very happy with the experience. read more

This spot never disappoints! When I'm in the mood for Thai, whether in the area or hopping in the car for a 45 minute road trip from my house, it is always worth it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, an extensive authentic menu and centrally located in a shopping square make this a big fat yes for me. I can't get enough of the tofu larb salad. Spicy (level medium) and tangy and flavorful and generously sized for an app. So many curries, fried rice, noodle dishes and rolls to choose from. ATMOSPHERE: this is a very Quaint restaurant that's what's inside of a Plaza. When I walked in I must admit that it looked very congested. Almost as if they have too many tables and chairs and not enough walk space. The seating is comfortable once you are seated. But you can definitely see that they may have outgrown the space mainly due to supplies being visibly seen throughout the dining section. And I absolutely love the fact that it's a BYOB restaurant. FOOD: I absolutely love their food it is definitely one of the best thai restaurants I have been to in the area. I have had many items here but one of my go-to's is the summer roll and the shrimp Thai curry dish. The summer roll taste as if it's made to order very fresh. And the curry dish was so extremely flavorful and fulfilling. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I will say that when I arrived it took a while for me to be greeted. And it wasn't that busy in there I find that maybe because it is partially family owned that Staffing is very limited. Once we were seated it also took a minute to place an order. Again this place was not crowded. The food did come out pretty fast which is good. I find that once the food arrived at the table it took a minute for the waitress to check to see how the food is and if we needed anything. It also took forever to pay. I love doing updates when things have improved. This time I have to do an update because it's just not worth it any more. My husband and I hadn't been here in years. It was just the two of us so we decided to stop in and see if things were still as good. The first shock was due to the prices. $4.50 for a single crispy veggie roll. Just under $19 for a simple entrée with nothing sexy. Some of the more exotic entrees were in the $20s and $30s. We opted to split a $19 order of rad na with beef. Neither of us were really hungry and we didn't want a bunch of leftovers to take home. After a pretty decent wait, our dish came out in a bowl with a large spoon. Their rad na has noodles, beef, broccoli, and the traditional yellow bean sauce. The flavor was very good and it was spiced well (we ordered 4.5 out of 1-6). Unfortunately, I just couldn't get past paying almost $20 for mostly noodles and sauce. There was very little meat and the broccoli was in large pieces and not very soft. I didn't mind the broccoli being crispy, but I didn't like not being able to cut it with a fork and having to shove large sauce covered broccoli "trees" into my mouth to bite off a piece. Even at $9 I would have felt I wanted more meat in the dish. I have to put this on the "never again" list. I looked at other tables to see if we were the exception. Nope. Their pad thai looked boring. Their crispy rolls were small. Their appetizer portions were small despite the large price tags. The entrees looked more like sloppy Chinese food than Thai dishes. I didn't see anything that looked like fresh Thai basil being served to anyone. Maybe my eyesight is bad. Our rad na had no garnish or anything. I just looked like a bowl of brown goopy stuff. Unlike others, I don't mind the dated look and cramped space. In fact, I kind of like it and find it charming. It's cozy. Much nicer than those cold industrial looking places. Service was also very good. Only issue was when I asked our first server for two more minutes to decide what we wanted. She never returned and eventually a very nice man asked if someone had taken our order. We said no and he immediately asked what we wanted and he did a good job for the entire meal. Drinks were served in paper cups, which was odd. I miss those metal water cups they had many years ago. Made things seem a little exotic. read more

I took our lunch bunch group here today. Some of us never had Thai food, some are super fans. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food. The decor was authentic Taiwanese, beautiful orchids and gorgeous saltwater fish tank. Since this was my first time having Thai food, I asked lots of questions and the owner/server took the time to answer them. I played it safe with a vegetable roll and drunken noodles w/ seafood. Pretty good (not a fan of anise). Loved the sauces. Portions were generous for lunch. Loved the decor outside the restaurant. Let me start this review by saying the food is delicious - I am fired up on pricing and the nickel and diming. First of all their prices are high, but I always thought the food was worth it. Tonight I ordered online because that's what the restaurant preferred (per the website). I had selected "pick up ASAP" and for whatever reason it defaulted to tomorrow at 12:50 PM. I called and ask them to please move it up to today. Music was very loud when I called - had to shout into the phone for them to hear me, but nonetheless, was able to get it switched to my intended date and time. Fabulous, much appreciated, excited for a delicious pricy but in my mind at the time worth the price tag dinner. There is $1.50 service fee because I ordered online, per their preference. I always tip, even on pick up orders, around 10%. All I'm around $7 in additional fees for my order. I requested that mushrooms be substituted for broccoli in the dish. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was informed I owed $3.15 for the broccoli. Maybe I'm cheap or hangry, but I wasn't aware the going rate to substitute a vegetable for another was $3.15. Furthermore, broccoli is actually CHEAPER than mushrooms which just adds gasoline on this Karen fire. I understand inflation is ridiculous, restaurants have been under a lot of stress, but for the love of god $3.15 to substitute a vegetable?! Ugh..... I like the food at this establishment but the take out system is really mismanaged. The pick up time is always much longer than quoted. When I say that it is much longer, today our order was one hour past the time of quoted pick up. My husband and daughter waited in the dark, crowded front area for over an additional hour! I tried to cal to cancel but no one answered and the mailbox was full. If they are going to make people wait an extra hour, they should offer appetizers or drinks and a nice pleasant place to sit. The restaurant is so dated and crowded with Knick knacks that you don't really want to look around too closely. The place needs minimized cleaned, the fish tank removed and a nice waiting area to sit in AND... someone to manage the take out process. Sadly, this was our last take out to this place unless someone takes the reigns and makes big changes. read more
