This hotel restaurant does a great job handling large crowds that might overwhelm other places. Tour buses don't phase them. We had a very enjoyable dinner with a very pleasant server. My wife had the pork loin with risotto. Everything about it was delicious. I had the duck. Flavor was great and it came medium rare as ordered. Service was good, ambiance was good, food tasted out but the flank I had, my customer had was tough, the chicken my customers wife had was tough. Flavor was all on point it was just everything was tough. Maybe an off night, I will return and try something else next time in the area though. I was in The Soo for business and stayed at the Delta Waterfront (highly recommend). I had a large, late lunch so went to the bar for an app and a drink. BOTTOM LINE: Great - ahem - view of the lake and one of my favourite restos in town! There's also free wifi. View offers a great alternative to the Italian and grill house offerings you can find in abundance around town. Lots of nice salads, seafood and Eastern influences (e.g., enoki mushrooms wrapped in beef). Of course, they also had a wide selection of steaks and ribs. Located in the Delta hotel, it overlooks the lake, though I wish the restaurant were on the top floor for a better view. The prices were also much more reasonable than some of the other places in town and the service was friendly. The ROASTED RED PEPPER SOUP was freshly pureed and the serving size was twice what I had expected - nice! Topped with feta cheese and some arugula, it was a nice, hearty soup. I ordered their special MAHI MAHI which was served with a light flavoured curry glaze and pineapples over some roasted veggies and mashed potatoes (there was also the option to get it with basmati rice). This dish was easily the highlight of my trip up to the Sault! The fish was juicy and nicely browned, the curry was sweet and not overpowering and the pineapples really gave it some zest. Arrived and checked into the Delta on Friday evening and figured the restaurant located on site would be the easiest option. Patio was buzzing, and full in the new spaced out manner. No problem since the family wanted to eat in the room anyway. Gluten free bun available so that was bonus. Gentleman that took the order was conscientious and advised burger had wheat so took the recommendation for the chicken sandwich. Sandwich was good. Side salads were decent and tasty but Korean fried chicken with sesame spinach sauté entree was beyond disappointing. Too much sauce and only at most five pieces of fried chicken that were barely McDonald chicken nugget size. Take out was packaged well and provided in a paper bag. Restaurant called when our meals were ready for pick up, and made a room delivery when the Korean fried chicken was missed in the first pick up. Glad to see decent traffic for the restaurant, especially the patio during these times. Hope other meals were not disappointing. Will not return and would rather explore other dining options in the city. read more

Don't get fooled that the restaurant is inside a hotel. It is a very good restaurant with a perfect setting on the water and an elegant yet simple decor. The servers and bartenders are friendly and attentive. The menu is a fine selection of items and they were all very good: well prepared and tasty. The NY strip with the addition of the steak medley was cooked to perfection, tasty and juicy. The cedar planked salmon had a nice walnut crust and came with pesto mashed potatoes, delicious. Note that the salmon has a little of a sweet flavor due to the honey butter. The Korean fire noodles were very different and tasty. We ordered it with the steak. Waited for almost 20 mins for our order to be taken and then 45 mins for our steaks to arrive. The steaks were barely warm and the mashed potatoes had a hardened shell from sitting so long. I would have just left but it was 8:00pm and we didn't want to go elsewhere. They should have told us the wait would be long so we could have made other plans. Cooking a steak doesn't take 45min and after 45 minutes you'd expect things to be hot, and not body temperature. SAD! Food I assume would have been ok...though hard to tell when it isn't hot. We chose this restaurant at the recommendation from the hotel staff that checked us in. We scoped out the menu to make a final decision and decided to try it. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The hostess sat us by the window and we had a beautiful water view. Our server was Charlene. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was attentive to us throughout our meal. Now for the food!! We started with Duck Bombs. They were delicious! We received some bread that was also tasty and hot! Tasted so fresh! My husband had Seafood Puttanesca as his main dish and he enjoyed every bite! It was full of seafood! I enjoyed the bacon wrapped filet. So tender. We didn't have room for dessert, but that looked amazing too. Our whole meal was enjoyable from start to finish. It was reasonably priced. No fancy wardrobe required. My 1st meal in Canada and OH SO MEMORABLE! Strangely I ordered a dish that includes flank steak (a cut I had never eaten before) and brie on focaccia topped with a medley of mushrooms and onions. My husband and I drove out to Sault St Marie today for the weekend. I wanted to have a drink somewhere with a view, so I chose this restaurant with a very fitting name. Our server was very helpful in suggesting things to do around town and having special drinks made for us. I ordered the chicken marsala and my husband had bacon wrapped filet mignon. Both were delicious. The mash potato could use more salt though. We had the panna cotta for dessert and i wish I ordered two. Probably the best panna cotta ive had. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here on Mother's Day. We did not have reservations but we're lucky to get a window table with a view of the international bridge. She had the filet mignon and I had the blackened poppyseed tuna. Both were done to perfection. Oh yes, we started with some excellent crab cakes to share, which included nicely seasoned shrimp. How they presented or prepared, it all failed to me. We ordered duck bomb, caesar salad, beef ravioli and pork tenderloin with arancini. My stay at the Waterfront Delta happened during the peak of the winter weather so mostly I viewed snow drifts from the windows of the hotel's on-site restaurant. I'm sure the sun sparkling in the water looks much cheerier during the tourist season. Since January is not one of those times, it was rare to find any dining partners at breakfast. We took our morning meal every day for a week and only ordered dine-in a couple of time for later meals. Some of the hostesses and waitresses you'll get to know by name (halloo to Marsha and Kim) if you spend more than a couple of days there. Soo embodies however you envision a small town. Everyone there loves to chat and take the time to listen, a real treat if you're used to the shallow small talk in the city. Their dining room is a good size for those eating during the day and the bar is dimly lit and perfect for a drink over dinner. Prices are fairly high if you want a drink, otherwise, breakfast averaged 15 CAD and dinner appears to be closer to 20 CAD which is a bargain compared to most hotel restaurants in the lower 48. This is your best chance at a good hot meal (and during off season perhaps your only one) unless you dare the food court at the Station Mall across the street. The omelets and egg plates are solid and what you'd expect. The red skinned potatoes are quite good and suited my plain flavor leaning palate well. Only the staff made View a standout in any way, but I'd return if I were in the area again, no question. read more

Excellent dinner tonight. The view of the harbour, bridge, sunset are unsurpassed- make a reservation for a window table. There is a nice bar adjacent to the restaurant if you want to have a drink first and wait for the perfect table. My husband had Korean spicy noodles which he loved. I had the chicken Marsala and twice baked potato - also excellent. We split the Caesar salad and it was huge and delicious. The rolls were warm and served with butter as well as a blueberry & lime spread that was quite good. Topped it off with a bottle of wine and the pumpkin cobbler for dessert. Charlene provided perfect service and couldn't have been nicer. We took a walk along the boardwalk afterwards and loved being able to do that before returning to the hotel. Went for dinner on a Sunday evening. Really great view of the locks, as advertised. Started with a Margarita that was most likely a mix, which is not what I expected at a restaurant of this price/reputation. It was ok, just not what I had expected. Crab cakes as a starter were good, nice size portion that includes a few shrimp and tomatoes. Could have used a little more seasoning. Dinner was an Argentine Rib eye that was delicious, really well seasoned and enjoyable. The mashed potatoes are made with buttermilk and they are really, really good. My wife had the veal Marsala. It was veal cutlets with light breading in Marsala sauce with potatoes, carrots, and brussel sprouts. Vegetables were a little overdone, but flavor was good. Service was good. Staff seemed knowledgeable and were friendly and chatty in a pleasant way. Price for 1 Starter, 2 Drinks, and 2 entrees was about 100 CAD. Will probably return for another go and maybe to try the Sunday brunch. read more

Bar area is small but very nice, quiet music playing in the back ground so it is great spot for a drink and social after work. Food.. can't say enough good things. Sunday Brunch was ok. Highlight was the view of course. $21 for a variety. Though a bit disappointed they couldn't get the hollandaise sauce correct. The cut was thin, the cook was between well-done and medium instead of medium rare, and some of the grill marks burnt into the steak. Additionally the seasoned veggies were cold. View Restaurant has always been a favourite because of its gorgeous waterfront location, but I certainly appreciate the consistently high quality food preparation and presentation. Portions are perfect, steaks are grilled to perfection and the menu offers one of the largest selections of AAA aged Canadian angus beef cuts in the city. Crisp steamed veggies, fresh sides created daily, and homemade desserts (my ginger creme brûlée was complimentary for my birthday!) and they make a terrific cappuccino. Delightful service starting with a friendly welcome by the the host and hostess to our server Samantha. Poor service and really bad food. The soup was the only thing that was marginally passable. My husband's meal consisted of meat so leathery that he could barely chew and the restaurant is very limited in its imagination and offers no vegan choices at all. What was listed on the menu as a vegetarian choice was one of those "ask your server" mentions. When the server was queried, she acted as if she didn't even know there was supposed to be a vegetarian meal. We actually had to ask her to go and find out what it was. The concoction was a mess and consisted mostly of peppers and not much else. Included in those peppers (purported to be only sweet ones) must have been something akin to habaneros because the meal was inedible due to the spiciness. No flavor could be found because of the heat. Someone really needs to inform the chef that vegetables actually do taste wonderful and need very little if anything to turn them into something exquisite. The evening spent at this Delta dining room gave me no incentive to ever step foot in any Delta hotel again. read more
