Seafood Chowder

BOTTOM LINE: Great - ahem - view of the lake and one of my favourite restos in town! There's also free wifi. View offers a great alternative to the Italian and grill house offerings you can find in abundance around town. Lots of nice salads, seafood and Eastern influences (e.g., enoki mushrooms wrapped in beef). Of course, they also had a wide selection of steaks and ribs. Located in the Delta hotel, it overlooks the lake, though I wish the restaurant were on the top floor for a better view. The prices were also much more reasonable than some of the other places in town and the service was friendly. The ROASTED RED PEPPER SOUP was freshly pureed and the serving size was twice what I had expected - nice! Topped with feta cheese and some arugula, it was a nice, hearty soup. I ordered their special MAHI MAHI which was served with a light flavoured curry glaze and pineapples over some roasted veggies and mashed potatoes (there was also the option to get it with basmati rice). This dish was easily the highlight of my trip up to the Sault! The fish was juicy and nicely browned, the curry was sweet and not overpowering and the pineapples really gave it some zest. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in town!

Don't get fooled that the restaurant is inside a hotel. It is a very good restaurant with a perfect setting on the water and an elegant yet simple decor. The servers and bartenders are friendly and attentive. The menu is a fine selection of items and they were all very good: well prepared and tasty. The NY strip with the addition of the steak medley was cooked to perfection, tasty and juicy. The cedar planked salmon had a nice walnut crust and came with pesto mashed potatoes, delicious. Note that the salmon has a little of a sweet flavor due to the honey butter. The Korean fire noodles were very different and tasty. We ordered it with the steak. Definitely a restaurant to recommend and come back!

Waited for almost 20 mins for our order to be taken and then 45 mins for our steaks to arrive. The steaks were barely warm and the mashed potatoes had a hardened shell from sitting so long. I would have just left but it was 8:00pm and we didn't want to go elsewhere. They should have told us the wait would be long so we could have made other plans. Cooking a steak doesn't take 45min and after 45 minutes you'd expect things to be hot, and not body temperature. SAD! Food I assume would have been ok...though hard to tell when it isn't hot. Here is a picture of my 1 hour old water that's not been refilled once

We chose this restaurant at the recommendation from the hotel staff that checked us in. We scoped out the menu to make a final decision and decided to try it. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The hostess sat us by the window and we had a beautiful water view. Our server was Charlene. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was attentive to us throughout our meal. Now for the food!! We started with Duck Bombs. They were delicious! We received some bread that was also tasty and hot! Tasted so fresh! My husband had Seafood Puttanesca as his main dish and he enjoyed every bite! It was full of seafood! I enjoyed the bacon wrapped filet. So tender. We didn't have room for dessert, but that looked amazing too. Our whole meal was enjoyable from start to finish. It was reasonably priced. No fancy wardrobe required. Oh and they have a full bar selection. Go get some and enjoy! Yum!

My husband and I drove out to Sault St Marie today for the weekend. I wanted to have a drink somewhere with a view, so I chose this restaurant with a very fitting name. Our server was very helpful in suggesting things to do around town and having special drinks made for us. I ordered the chicken marsala and my husband had bacon wrapped filet mignon. Both were delicious. The mash potato could use more salt though. We had the panna cotta for dessert and i wish I ordered two. Probably the best panna cotta ive had. I will come back next time we drive out this way.

With reservations, they were able to accommodate our large group but we were split up at several different tables. The service was uneven. Some tables came in after us yet were served before us. The decor made us feel we were in a fine dining establishment.

A Very Memorable Meal!!!…read more I had the opportunity to visit Embers for a business dinner. It was with one of my colleagues who had been to Embers before. The restaurant has a really warm and had a homelike feel and I really love the Farm to Table concept they have. Let's start by saying the food is fresh and sourced from many local farms which ads to the quality of the food. You can also get wild game when it's featured. That night there was Kangaroo and Wild Boar on the menu. I went for the Tenderloin as I wanted to try a different cut of beef.. Our group had many dishes that night including some seafood and duck wings?? Anywho, like most farm to table places, they change up the menu every few months. My meal was exceptional, I wish I had brought a better camera with me as the presentation was a work of art. All the food washed down with a great bottle of Barolo was a success. Everyone loved their food. This restaurant certainly left an impression on me as I will be back if I'm in the area again.

Stopped in late March for something to eat after a day at the Locks. It appeared relatively empty…read morebut it's a good sized place so it's a bit deceiving to see how many people are there. The lighting is good and the overall atmosphere was chill. Music played in the background and didn't interfere with conversation. 20 beers on tap. A huge bar. A pool table. All kinds of fun to be had! So, let's talk food. A simple front and back menu loaded with goodies. Two different Rueben appetizers speak to the passion of an Irish Pub. It's in the Sault, however, and the fish is the real steal of the show. I judge that everything on this menu is made with care and comes out delicious. The perch are deep fried, light and tender. Their "famous" questo tastes a lot like grandma's rotel and is absolutely delicious. Beers, Bloody Mary's, Fish, Irish fare, burgers, quality service, and plenty of seating make this place a worthy stop for nearly every audience. Come on in and you won't be disappointed. (the prices are too low to mention, imo)

Things were very clean and orderly - even the restrooms. The booths were spacious comfortable. The menu is fairly large and prices are decent. The team here is very friendly and hustles. There was not enough waitress scheduled to handle the post locks crowd. They were spread very thin. The food coming out of the kitchen was very slow as well. We were seated by the window where the food comes out. I was shocked at how long many items sat waiting on a waitress and that there was no heat lamp to help keep food warm. Our sweet potato fries came out cold. The fried pickles were okay. The dill chip was moderately thick with a heavy breading. The chip was touch and couldn't be bit into. The breading was nice and firm and a bit oily. The Cole slaw was pretty good - finely cut cabbage pieces with a thin mayo-vinegar taste. The onion rings were also good. Some rings had a thicker piece of onion. The batter was thick and a bit greasy. The garlic Parmesan wings were okay. The basket consisted of 8 small wings. The wings were battered and fried. The insides were a solid white and fairly moist. The batter was bit crunchy which was nice. The garlic Parmesan sauce didn't really have much garlic or Parmesan taste. It seemed to be a heavy buttery flavor with maybe some seasoning.
