I had to slam on my brakes and swerve left to avoid hitting him. It wasn't even close--there was no way he could've made that turn without cutting into my lane. I honked to make him aware, but instead of moving on, he chose to escalate the situation. For the next two and a half miles, he followed me, tailgating with his brights on, pulling up next to me, and then cutting into my lane. When we finally stopped at a red light, he rolled down his window, started yelling, and waving his hands at me. He only backed off when I held up my phone to show I was calling 911. This was not just unprofessional--it was downright dangerous. I understand that driving a tow truck can be stressful, but there is no excuse for this kind of intimidation on the road. After calling 911, notifying our community manager, taking pictures, calling out of work, contacting insurance (this incident was NOT covered), and getting my mind right, I started calling local towing companies. This proved to be quite the chore. Many tow companies don't tow cars with no rims and tires. I mean, I get it but, what's a person to do?! I then found one that was going to charge me A LOT ... including a deposit and $5 per mile to the cars destination. Yikes! I called Best Houston Towing, they answered quickly, the gentleman was super nice, quick with info, gave me a great quote for the tow, and let me know just what time the driver would be at our place with rims and tires to put on the car and to get to the tire/rim shop! It literally ALL happened just like that and was SUPER seamless!!!! The driver was on time, wore a mask for his and our safety, was as nice and friendly as could be, and worked efficiently and effectively to get the car safely loaded onto the truck and then got it safely to the tire/rim store! I am beyond thankful for the great customer service and support from Best Houston Towing, and really helped to turn a bad situation into a positive one!!
