I've worked with Viking Plumbing a handful of times and have had a good experience with multiple of their plumbers.

This Matthew(owner) is trying to make it sound like it's the same company that had been trusted and excellent for many years and that they just moved to Oak Creek because they needed a bigger facility. $500 to unclog a drain, and that's after disputing a patently erroneous invoice that was over $700 originally. The new ownership makes this a fundamentally different company than the trusted version of it that I and many others used for years (explaining their old positive reviews). ATTENTION: Viking Plumbing is under new management. This is NOT the same company that you may have been using for years. We live on the East Side of MKE in a large, old home and had been using them happily for about 15 years. Many of the expert plumbers have left, and we unfortunately had an inexperienced crew work on a major pipe leak in our home. Long story short: 6 rooms (ceilings taken out) were affected, pipes burst, had to have mold remediation, commercial fans, etc... house was under construction for 4 months. This is all because these guys didn't know what they were doing. We hired a lawyer and got most of the cost ($35K) back, but Viking never accepted responsibility for anything. I recently posted about my experience with Brian Sylvas & Viking Plumbing in regards to my daughter's new (old) home built in the 1950's. Well, we decided to have that one last project done and called on Brian & Viking Plumbing to help us out. The main shut off valve for the house was leaking, to the point where a tiny stream was running towards the basement floor drain. Brian had tightened it up at his last service call but recommended we replace both the house and the city valves because, to be honest, tightening up that valve wasn't going to work forever. And, you know some things still look & work pretty good into their 60's-70's but I knew these shut off valves were not looking good at all & a drip was there before she moved in. So an appointment was made, the City was notified to turn off the water, and Brian replaced the entire section with copper pipe and simple, easy to use shut offs using a lever handle instead of turning a circular knob around to open and close the water to the house. We are very satisfied with the work performed & my daughter doesn't have to worry about a flooded basement now due to a faulty valve. And that is significant peace of mind for a new home owner! DO NOT USE! My previous interactions with Viking were all undone by my most recent transaction with them. I was quoted $618 by one of their plumbers for the installation of a utility sink. I thought the price was a good one and I chose not to seek out any other bids. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill in the mail for $1,100! When I called Viking to question the nearly double invoice, I was told that $618 wasn't their price and I must be mistaken. I could understand if things took a bit longer than expected and the price crept up to the $700, even $800 mark, but the near 100% increase from what I was told by a member of their staff that the organization declined to stand behind ensures that I will never use them again, and I would encourage you to do the same. read more

During the pandemic we had not one but TWO plumbing emergencies and we used reliable Viking Plumbing for both. One was an issue with our water heater pilot light and some leaks. The other was a leaky shower faucet and the whole kit and kaboodle had to be replaced. We had different plumbers come for both visits, but they were both on time, did excellent work, and wore masks in the house the whole time. The gentlemen on the phone were also helpful with explaining the issues, telling us what type of shower fixture kit to look for, and setting up the appointments. read more

I have used viking plumbing for my plumbing needs. However, since a different company has now purchased Viking, they have changed. Requested a consultation for new toilets. Plumber, Angel, came and gave me a quote. He said scheduling would call that day to schedule a time for Thursday. No call. I called on Wednesday. They didn't have me in the schedule. Said they would contact Angel and call me back. Again, no call. If this is how they run their business, I want no part. I will not beg a company to take my money. read more

Have used Viking Plumbing a couple of times, and they've been great! Competent, professional, plumbers that do the work quickly and for a fair price. (Currently, minimum first half hour $98, $39/15min after---no additional trip fee.) This most recent visit, I had a nasty clog cleared and a bidet installed (yeah, I know I could have done these myself, but it was worth $350 to have someone else do it---it was a nasty clog!) Highly recommend and will use their services again! (As an aside, I had to get some botched electrical work fixed quickly, and Viking recommended Nelco Electric---who was also great!) read more

Usually when you need a plumber, you REALLY need a plumber. So you go on line and start searching hoping that the random one you pick turns out to be a good choice. Well if you are looking, and are in the Milwaukee area, look no further than Taagen plumbing. I have been using them for years to service my rental properties in this area and they are great. Trustworthy, honest, dependable and reasonably priced- I only wish I could find their equivalent in the Chicago area to work on my personal home. They do the work that needs to be done and don't try to up sell you to things that you don't need. They clean up after themselves and are even willing to bill me for the work given I live out of state. And they run on time! (say that about your plumber!) The woman that answers the phone is also great. She remembers me from job to job and works to prioritize my needs. I hope you don't need a plumber as that usually means trouble. But if you do- call Taagen. They are tops in my book! read more

We have used Viking plumbing for years because they are consistently quick to respond, reasonably priced, punctual and incredibly competent! The first time we had these guys out was for a funny sewage smell in the basement that didn't go away despite the drain traps being flushed etc. Thinking it was some sort of big long repair problem, we called Viking plumbing. They were here quickly and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. Since then we've called them with all sorts of plumbing fiascos including 2 holiday emergency calls. Always incredibly helpful on the phone, they would troubleshoot with us and show up reliably when they said they would. Every plumber I've met was nice, professional and definitely know what they are doing! Strongly recommend using, they are our goto plumbers! read more

The people at Viking are the best. Had an emergency and needed a new water heater two days before Christmas Eve. They were able to come the next day. During quarantine, they were extremely safe and did everything in order to make me feel comfortable. Only had to communicate over the phone. My basement started flooding in late afternoon on Feb 3rd. I googled "plumbers:. I called 3 plumbers who had no availability for an emergency call. Finally, I called Viking. A good experience with a shower change out in an older home. A pretty knowledgeable staff as well. The only very minor detail was cutting through the plaster wall for access could possibly have been done more neatly so patching wouldn't be such a task. At least the Plumbing was really good work. We even called again when we noticed water, but the plumber dialed our issue down to water seeping outside the tub rim and under the tile work. I would trust Viking to be upfront with plumbing issues and what it would take to fix. read more

I had Viking Plumbing (the name they normally use) out for a simple job and Kevin came out in the 2 hour window they gave me. He had everything he need to fix the problem and was done very quickly. He even gave me a few tips on another problem I noticed with my washing machine. He explained the likely cause and how to fix it. I'd recommend using this service. A couple of ways I'd like the service to improve is to send me an email confirmation of the job order with the details and once the job is done I'd like to be able to pay the bill online. read more

I have used Viking several times over the past three years. In every case, they have been extremely professional and performed top notch work. Jesse in particular has been over most of the time, and he has been great. Work completed was always top notch, from installation of new sinks and dishwasher, to replumbing our laundry room when we remodeled, and to sewage back-up in the basement. I appreciate how they walk me through the process, explain the issues and potential fixes, and treat me like a human being, (which is quite welcome since I don't know squat about plumbing.) We had these plumbers come out to fix some shoddy plumbing that my buddy did in the basement. The nice plumber was able to turn C- work into a straight A, graduating with honors. Friendly guy and the gal back at the home office was very accommodating and quick to get them in my place to do the work. The price was right for the work that was done and the gent explained exactly what he did. He actually did some extra pipe replacement for me without charging me...or at least he said he wasn't charging me. If these "plumbers" would have been working for the Committee to Re-Elect back in 1972, Watergate would just be some budget hotel inside the Beltway. They're that good. read more

11.28.2012: Taagen's plumbers just finished some major work here to replace 90-year-old steel pipes with modern copper and PEX. No surprise to me: their work was excellent. They were on time, courteous, clear, tidy and efficient. I continue to recommend them highly. 1.7.2010: A good, honest, local plumber. Instead of doing more work than was necessary, Matt Taagen told me that the leaking shower valve I had was better quality than the new one I had purchased at Home Depot - it just needed a new cartridge. So with that and a few more parts to remedy issues I had with the handle and trim plate, my problems were solved and he was on his way within an hour. A backed up garbage disposal really put a wrench into my Monday morning and presumably my entire week. Checked with my trusty yelpometer and called Taagen Plumbing. These guys were polite and down to business on the phone and were able to get a plumber to me the same day. He was here, he replaced some faulty pipe configurations under the sink, unclogged the disposal and was gone. No paperwork to fiddle through as they billed us after the fact. Good work for a very reasonable price. If you live on the East Side or just need some work done. I highly recommend Taagen Plumbing. I was overcharged for the amount of time spent working on my plumbing, and they charged me an excessive markup on parts (100% markup). The plumber was not here for more than 2 hours, but I was charged for 2.25 hours of work. The 2.25 hours I was charged includes the plumber assessing the fix for one of the hours, and not actually working on the repair. With the amount they charge per hour, every 15 minutes is important. The actual plumber indicated that he had been there for 2 hours and 3 minutes, and that the Company's policy is to "Round-up". However, this is clearly not how rounding works, nor how business should be done. When I went to the Home Depot's website to look at the price of the parts they installed on my pipes (which are of the same make/model/quality of the ones installed) I realized Viking charged me double what they actually cost. I was not aware they would charge this much of a markup, and this is excessive in my opinion. When I called to discuss my invoice, the man that claimed to be the owner was very rude. I could hear somebody laughing in the background while he was making fun of the situation as if he was putting on a show for the other employee. I've seen other reviews as well about the disrespectful owner. As the owner would not adjust my invoice for the actual time spent on my property or a reasonable markup on parts (30%), I filed grievances with the Better Business Bureau and Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. As the owner was still unwilling to adjust the billing amount after these complaints, I PAID my full bill, and am now writing this review to let others know about my experience. Would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Today my water heater died & they were able to fit us in their schedule immediately so we would not have an interruption in our service. When I asked if he could do anything about my sluggish, calcium-encrusted toilet, he did the OPPOSITE of upselling me, telling me to try a couple of leaders of Coke! Taagen squeezed us in their schedule today when our 17 year old hot water tank went out last night. It's Friday so we were so appreciative that this could get taken care of before the weekend. Chris, Dave and Julian were here right at 1pm just as Peg stated they would be. By 3pm we had hot water again and better water pressure in our upstairs bathroom sink since they discovered a clog which sometimes happens when the tank gets changed out.
