We're about to start our fifth year here at VDM. We absolutely love it. We have consistently renewed because we have no desire to try and go anywhere else. This isn't a rare occurrence here either, we know 10+ people in the community who have lived here much longer than 5 years, which is so nice. There are rare water issues, when they do occur, the apartment complex emails us and gives us a heads up- which a lot of places don't do. The staff at the front is all very helpful, and the maintenance team is top notch, kind, and very respectful. We really appreciate how if we have to put a work order in it is tended to same day... it seems like other places never let you know the eta on a maintenance issue. All in all, if you're looking for a place to rent, this is a great place to call home. We love that it's quiet, consistent, and neighborly. read more

My lovely wife and I moved from Ohio to Texas some 30+ years ago and Villa Del Mar was our first apartment...it was close to shopping, restaurants and more importantly, close to my job. The staff was friendly and accommodating, they even let me screen in my patio and the patios of a few elderly residents! l moved back to Ohio when my dad had a heart attack, and 3 years later I moved back to Texas, again to Villa Del Mar. They welcomed my wife and I back with open arms and worked diligently to get us the apartment we were promised, no hassle, no deception. We still live on property and though the complex is aging, the current Manager is upfront and honest, making no excuses for things that need attention, just super in getting issues addressed and resolved with a very competent and capable maintenance crew...treating residents with respect and a caring attitude makes a difference! *UPDATE 1-14-20 After hiring an attorney who went after this sorry ass apartment complex for my missing package, I received a check in the mail for the value of my package. Mind you this was AFTER receiving a passive aggressive email reply from Gabby Silversmith at Wilmax to my last review/email Btw I filed a discrimination complaint with HUD after receiving that email. I feel like that was a passive aggressive intimidation tactic. I will not be bullied or intimidated. The fact that I had to take legal action against these people over something that was so open and shut is a prime example of why NO ONE should move here because they think they can treat you however they want and get away with it. Well they chose the wrong person to pick on this time. I keep very good records and documents,as well as being able to afford attorneys. Jennifer posted a reply to my last review on YELP, but she's awful quiet about that check they sent me after my attorney got involved. They just thought I was going to get screwed and take it huh? WRONG!!! My attorney also advised me to let him know if they try to retaliate against me and to video my walk through when I move so they can't try to keep my security deposit. On 11/20/19 I received an email notification from UPS that the package that I ordered containing a $100 sweater from Ralph Lauren had been delivered to my rental office and signed for by Griggs. When I got home from work there was also a UPS note on my door stating that my package was taken to the office. When I went to the office to pick up my package my package could not be found. The person looking for my package was Ashley Griggs the person that UPS driver stated signed for the package. I explained to Mrs. Griggs that I received two notifications one email and one physical on my door stating that the package was delivered a few hours ago and signed for by her. I was told to check back the next day. I returned the next day and they still could not find my package and at this point insisting that there was never a package delivered,even though there was documentation from UPS stating the package was signed for by Griggs. When I showed such documentation to the manager Jennifer Reyes she informed me that the name was spelled wrong there was an extra I in Griggs. I was also informed that the delivery drivers know the workers names so it was possible that the driver just wrote her name in. While that may be possible, am I to assume that the driver just happened to know that Ashley Griggs was working that day and wrote her name in? I contacted UPS and started a tracking investigation on the package. The investigation concluded that the package was delivered and signed for I have the actual signature included in the photos below and when I asked the UPS representative about the name being spelled wrong, I was informed that drivers often ask the name of the person signing for the package if the signature it's not totally legible which you can see this signature is not,so maybe the driver spelled her name wrong after asking for her name as opposed to the story that Villa del Mar wants me to believe that a driver just made up a name and didn't deliver the package. After getting the email from UPS with the verification signature of delivery I then went to the rental office and spoke with the manager Jennifer Reyes on 12/11/19 and informed her of the UPS investigation I also provided her with a copy of the UPS signature I had previously provided her with the other documentation of delivery. I recorded the conversation on my cell phone for my records/protection. I was informed by Jennifer Reyes that she would contact her supervisor and see what could be done for me and that she would get back with me the next day. I received the call from Jennifer Reyes the next day stating that she had spoken with her manager who was on site at another property and she will be getting back with me. On 12/19/19 after not hearing from Mrs. Reyes on the situation I sent her an email stating that she said she would get back to me and I have not heard from her. Mrs. Reyes replied with an email stating that after their investigation they are saying the package was not delivered to Villa del Mar's office. I work too hard for my money to just get screwed over and basically told to suck it up. This is not the first time I have had an issue with my packages, it's not even my first review about my packages (see previous review below) read more

I put a deposit on a unit, the unit was rented to someone else, yet my deposit was processed. When I asked for my deposit back the agent stated they were short on funds but could assist me next week. When I told her I needed the funds as a deposit for another complex, she said I should borrow money from friends. read more

I just moved here from New Orleans for a job offer. I stayed at the InTown Suite until I I had my bearings in the area. That was the worst decision I could've possibly made. So I had to find an apartment sooner than I was hoping. I went out the Wednesday prior to thanksgiving to find an apartment, I came across Villa Del Mar, the office and the business center was clean and inviting... than I met Ashleyshe was so informative and welcoming. She showed the one bedroom apartment... nice size and with washing machine and dryer hookups... hip hip hooray. If you are looking for a warm welcoming neighborhood to call your home Villa Del Mar is the place to be!!! read more

This apartment complex have been ran terrible since they came under new management and they act like they have no idea what there doing . The new manager is a super rude individual who says one thing and will quickly turn your words around the second you walk out the door. She has treated me and so many other residents very unprofessional , super rude and has had so many complaints from personal experience and my neighbors. 0 STARS! Don't move here, unless you like to shower, etc without hot water. No hot water is a recurring issue. I have emails to prove it. Now it's been a week with no hot water. Management is rude af. No updates on water unless you call of course then they send out a notice. They keep sending out emails about how sorry they are. BULLSHIT! instead of replacing the new defective boiler they choose to keep replacing parts on. If you paid $7,000 extra for a boiler, why not get it replaced with a new one ASAP! They don't wanna pay their employees extra for overtime. They get to go home to hot water. Andrea wanna tell me about other properties with no water. I don't pay rent at other properties. I have been searching and planning on transferring to Arlington, so I decided to make sure I do my homework and research available properties. I can across a review about missing packages, lies, and cover-ups. I order too many things online to allow the same place that I pay monthly to live, and feel my most comfortable at to steal from me! I know all to well the feelings and pain that can result from that. There is no way that I could trust people who allow their staff to steal from their residents and also try to cover it up! I suggest that you all do your homework and research places and READ reviews before choosing places to live! read more

I'm a new tenant 10/01/13. I completed a thorough walk-thru and reported all issues, which were many, to the office. All cabinets doors did not open properly (had wrong hinges). Front door had no seal to stop air infiltration. Patio door did not close completely, allowing air infiltration. Workers damaged countertops. The response was immediate, thorough. New hinges throughout apartment, new seals, considerable time was spent addressing the challenges of sagging floors near the patio door but fix was done properly. All countertops were given a new coat of acrylic. My experience with the office and all repairmen was great. They did all of this with a pleasant attitude and followed up to make sure all was done to my satisfaction. Great Job. read more

The overall living experience for me there was pretty bad. The automated gates were broken about half the time, so they were just left open at all times, and there was no on site security. Together this meant that we had loads of people who didn't even live at the complex "hosting" parties at our pool basically every weekend night. The maintenance staff were decent, and the leasing staff were very friendly but pretty incompetent. On two different occasions they pinned a "notice to vacate" to my door both of which were their mistakes, that I had to put considerable effort in to get them to fix. If these were cheap apartments, these things wouldn't bother me much, but when you're charging over $1,000 a month for a single bedroom it's pretty important to get the whole experience right and these people just can't. read more

This community used to be descent before Willmax bought it. Right after the change in management, various "improvements" commenced. The first thing that the new company was interesting in, was renovating the leasing center, followed by changing the gate access system. The later took about a month to complete, during which all the gates were constantly open, day and night. The new system allows using remote controls, but despite the fact that the lease clearly states that the remotes should be provided to tenants for free, the management charges a non-refundable fee for them! In addition, one of the exits has been constantly broken and remains open for days between attempts to repair it, and most of the pedestrian entrances are constantly open, posing a serious safety issue. Another improvement that the new company decided to do is change the siding of all the buildings of the community. This would have been welcomed if it didn't involve turning the whole complex into a huge work-site with big dumpsters, timber and loose nails all over. Furthermore, most of the new siding is left unpainted and in some cases incomplete while in the few cases that it has been painted, different colors have been used for unknown reasons. All the above have caused an increase in rents by about $100 (~20%) and to top things off, ambiguous short notices written in poor English are given often, maintenance and alterations are left unfinished and all the fall foliage in addition to all the trash from the construction are scarcely removed. read more

My husband & I recently moved into these apartments & we LOVE them. The staff are all very busy but very friendly & eager to help in any way they can. There are lots of new things they are offering as far as ways for residents to interact & get to know one another. They have given the entire complex a face lift & turned it into a beautiful place to live. The apartments are getting renovated as people move out or renew their leases...brand new carpet, flooring, cabinets & appliances (all black). It is super quiet here & I don't think we could have picked a better place to live. read more

If you prefer poor customer service and little to no concern for handling maintenance requests/repairs then this is a great complex.

I was a tenant since March 2014 and at first they was good.The turn over is one of the main scary thing but I understand why they do that. Basically you deal with someone and after couple months they change the agent and they can then change what was agreed upon. The big trick is that they will do an inspection after you move out and they will charges extra fees for garbage, cleaning, carpet repair, walls repair even if you left the apartment in good condition. They want you to pay for the regular used and tears from any renting. Like on of their maintenance guy told me " the game is starting!" . During my stay I had 5 or 6 time a leak in the master bathroom and they never did the repair properly, I had to have a big hole over my shower during days because they was coming to fix it but they never was able do to it correctly. They are renting upgraded apartment but the upgraded was done so cheaply that all the glue staff over the old staff never really stick and all the cabinet are failing apart and now they want the tenant to pay for it. Avoid this apartment complex. read more
