After searching reception sites high and low that would accommodate 250 people we came across Villa Ragusa. We met with Marisa and instantly hit it off. Their prices were very reasonable compared to other sites. We went with the priceless package and felt that it was the best value. It included things such as votives and candles, cake, appetizers, and chair covers. We also liked that they had a flat fee for their bar packages instead of a per drink price as all of the hotels do. The site was definitely more modern than some of the others we visited and the staff was very helpful. We did run into one issue at our tasting with the food that was served. They were very attentive and quickly re-scheduled a new tasting. They assured us that all the concerns would be corrected, and they were. We received many compliments on the food. Marisa made sure the night flowed smoothly and that everyone had a great time. We recommend Villa Ragusa to anyone looking for a reception facility. read more

We had our daughter's Cotillion party at Villa Ragusa last Friday. It was a success! Hilary and Laura were responsive, accommodating, and helpful throughout the process. They are very easy to work with and made planning easy. The day before the event, they let us in at the venue for 3 hours so we could do most of our set-up and preparation. That helped a great deal! On the day of, they allowed our vendors to come in 4 hours before we started to allow them ample time to set up. That worked out well. The party went as planned and as discussed with Hilary and Laura. Also I was so relieved that even though I left my camera bag at the party, the crew found it and turned it in to Laura. I was able to pick it up at their office few days after. The bag was all intact, nothing was lost. Thank goodness! Our guests loved the venue. They said VR is beautiful and classy. Also the bathrooms were kept clean the whole time we had the party. We highly recommend this place. We will definitely consider them again for our next big family event!! read more

Great venue for my friends wedding! I'm assuming that VR is best for humongous weddings, because it is huge. I was one of 350 guests on Saturday night. They had plenty of bartenders, two full blown bars, and a helpful staff. Food was decent. I had chicken in a light sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. My card said salmon, but I wanted chicken, they were totally cool with the switch. The salad was just ok. The bleu cheese stuffed mushrooms stand out to me as the bomb hors d'ourves. I waited to write my review until after my wedding had come and gone, because, as an anxious bride/planner, I really didn't know how it would all come out! Yikes! Well, I have to say that the wedding day was SO great, as was Alison, who has gotten rave reviews before! Throughout the whole planning process she was as cool as a cucumber, and helped us figure out a number of details. We had both our ceremony and our reception at Villa Ragusa. Alison was there to greet me when I arrived, and helped me get upstairs. All of those 'little details' that I had wondered about (like how we knew when to start, who would open doors, etc.) were all handled by Alison and the staff of Villa Ragusa. There was nothing I had to worry about or handle at all the whole night. I am still sooo happy with our choice of vendors because they really helped to make our night special. As a wedding planner, I have worked with numerous venue coordinators, and I will say that working with Hilary was a wedding planner's dream! She not only assisted our bride every step of the way, she went out of her way to do everything possible for her. She was available for all meetings, all venue walkthroughs with not only the bride, but myself and other vendors as well. You can tell how deeply Hilary cares about her clients. On the day of the wedding, which had 450 guests attending, Hilary was there asking what she could help us with. That goes above and beyond the call of the venue coordinator and we couldn't be more thankful. Anything we needed, Hilary was there. Anything our bride needed, Hilary was there. A last minute energy drink, Hilary was already on her way to the closest restaurant to get this for our bride. She stayed there until she was sure that we had everything we needed and could close out the event on our own. I can only hope to have the pleasure of working with other venue coordinators as amazing and courteous and caring as Hilary. read more

Located in the heart of Downtown Campbell, this was where the Kiwanis Turn Around Scholarship Fundraiser was held. This amazing silent auction and open wine bar was for a great cause. The Kiwanis Clubs from throughout the South Bay hold this event annually in order to raise their funds for college scholarships which are awarded to students who overcome adversity in their high school years. The venue itself was very grand and regal. I could totally see this place being used for a wedding venue. In the large reception area there are multiple areas to put whatever you need to make your event yours. Overall, if you're looking for a classy venue to hold your next event then definitely check Villa Ragusa out. read more

I originally was going to have my wedding reception here. Being that it isn't until 08/2012. I knew I was looking into sites pretty early. Since my original site was well over my budget and had been booked on my potential date, I figured I better start looking early. I had met with Lesley back in December, 2010 and she was great with returning my emails and answering any questions that I had. After we had tour Villa Ragusa, she had mentioned that we wouldn't be able to book our wedding until 18 mos before our wedding date. She even mentioned that prices would be changing to reflect 2012 pricing. That was fine since we had a ways until our wedding. About a week and a half before the date we could actually sign the contract and book Villa Ragusa, I had emailed Lesley on what steps I needed to take to get the ball rolling. A couple days go by and I don't hear from her so I figured maybe she was out of town and decided to give her about a week. After not hearing from her, I decided to call Villa Ragusa. I find out that Lesley no longer works there. Being that I received no email that she was leaving, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and inquired about what I needed to do to book for my Aug. 2012 wedding. The lady on the phone said they haven't released their 2012 pricing yet and that it should be ready by Fri. Feb 4. She took down my name and number and would call be back at the end of the week. Tuesday comes around and NOTHING. So I figured I would call back, same lady asks again for my name and number and once again said it should be done by the end of the week and would call me back. I asked her if I could just lock in my date and the 2011 pricing since they are the ones that are not done and have not released their pricing and it's already the 18 mos. mark that Lesley had promised me. They said, "No, you have to wait until we release the 2012 pricing." It's been almost 3 weeks and still no phone call, no email. I'm about to spend $30,000+ for my wedding reception, I EXPECT BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAN THIS. I'm definitely not going to book you for my wedding reception. 2 stars because when Lesley was there, I was getting great service, now that she's gone, apparently so was the customer service. read more

I felt very strongly, a need to write a review for Villa Ragusa. Also, a huge debt of gratitude for both Amanda and Hillary, from the sales office. Ours was not a "joyous occasion" We were planning a memorial. From the initial phone call, one I'm sure was a bit hysterical and definitely emotional, I was given the best customer service one could hope for. Hillary recognized my emotional state and answered my questions with respect. She was very aware that I was making the calls for the family and that I would be presenting them with a number of choices. Within minutes, I knew my decision was made as she was very respectful of the situation, and made many financial adjustments to accommodate the family's "last minute" budget. We were told that any overtime would be an additional amount and agreed that that was certainly fair and reasonable. Everything was as it was supposed to be...in terms of seating, tables, linens, audio visual, bar service, etc. Amanda approached me, as directed, not the husband or children, when the time allotted grew near. Within moments and with the utmost discretion, the overtime fee was taken care. The family was SO happy with the way it all turned out...given that it was all scheduled, planned and done within 10 days notice. In comparison to many other places I called...and to be fair...all but ONE place did make many exemptions, given the tone of the event.....but Villa Ragusa provided the space, the catering and so many accommodations in such a beautiful place at such a good value. As a professional wedding/event planner, I can honestly say that Villa Ragusa went above and beyond what was expected. * I'm sure VR does not want this published, as it will set a precedence, but the Monday following the memorial, I was called and told that the additional fee for the extended hours was waived, in honor of the occasion. This was not expected, but shows real empathy and just plain "good class". Thank you SO much. read more

We held our wedding reception at Villa Ragusa in September 2014. First of all, the venue itself is beautiful and even with minimal decor, looks grand. There is also an outdoor balcony area which is great for guests to get fresh air (and for photos). I also liked that the venue offers uplight and linen packages so you don't have to go searching on your own if you want just a few things to complement your own decor/flowers. Moving on to the staff. We worked with Hilary from day one and like other reviews mention--she is awesome and so sweet!! She is as involved as needed before the event to make sure everything goes smoothly. For example, she was in contact with my outside caterer and even arranged a tour for them to view the kitchen facilities before the day of the event so everything would go smoothly--this was all without us even asking her to do so. She just thought it would be a good idea! She also suggested other vendors to us (waitstaff, who were also great!!) and would coordinate details with these vendors as well. We hired her for day-of-coordination which I highly recommend as well. She made sure everything stayed on time and even took on the responsibility of making sure my husband and I ate and checked in periodically to make sure we had everything we needed! She is absolutely amazing and was one of the big reasons our reception went so smoothly. All in all, this venue combined with Hilary's expertise make it the perfect place to hold a wedding or reception. Would highly recommend it! read more

We had our wedding reception at Villa Ragusa on April 13, 2012 in the East Gallery. We had searched for months and looked at close to 15 different locations before deciding on Villa Ragusa. When we walked in, it felt right. The size of the room is large, but not overwhelming. The built-in bar and dance floor are beautiful and help complete the room so it doesn't feel like another banquet hall. Hilary was our contact at Villa Ragusa and she was great! She always responded in a very timely manner and if she didn't have the answer, she found out and got back to me ASAP. Week of wedding: We had a few changes to our head count and Hilary was very understanding and helped us with solutions to still help us meet our minimum. She was patient and really great to work with. Hilary really did help make it much less stressful than it could have been. Day of wedding: We used Hilary as our day of coordinator at Villa Ragusa and just like the review above, she was fantastic!! I did not have to worry about a thing! She coordinated with all of the vendors, had the timeline right on schedule and really made it worry-free for my husband, my mother and for me! Food: We had a variety of passed Hors d'oeuvres, as well as a cheese and fruit display. Our guests said the appetizers were great, but my husband and I did not have any, as we arrived a little later than our guests. For dinner, we chose the filet mignon and the chicken del monte. Steak is always a bit hard to serve to a large group at one time, but ours was very good. What surprised us the most was how tender and moist the chicken was. We did do a food tasting a couple of months before, but I don't remember the chicken tasting that delicious. Needless to say, we were super happy with our choices. Unfortunately, I used the same color sticker to indicate the children's meals from the vegetarian meals, thinking the servers would be able to distinguish the difference, but they didn't and two of the children received large pasta portions that they did not eat. Be sure to NOT use the same color for the kids & vegetarian meals. :/ Also, two of our guests did not receive the meal that they had chosen. Sadly, I think this happens at a lot of weddings due to the fact that people either forget what they chose or change their minds on the spot. Either way, Hilary was able to get them their desired meals and it was freshly cooked. It did take a bit longer than the rest of the meals, but she did her best to get it out quickly and our guests were very understanding. Alcohol: We did decide on the finest bar package for our guests and everyone was so pleased with the variety of choices. If you can afford to upgrade to the finest package, do so, it is worth it. Ultimately, my husband and I had the BEST day of our lives and loved having our reception here. It is a bit pricey, but we wanted to indulge and have our reception at a venue we loved. We used Villa Ragusa recently for our wedding. The venue was great! It was large enough to fit our 500 guests!! Alison, our coordinator was helpful throughout the planning process and she was very accomodating when it came to having our linens picked up on a day when Villa Ragusa was usually closed. The food was GREAT! The dance floor is beautiful!! And most of all, for a beautiful place with good food, you get a really REALLY good deal!! It honestly would have been nice to experience what others have at Villa Ragusa, but I doubt I will get the chance. I honestly think that if you want a large venue, it's a pretty place to choose. I like the main room and the bars are nice. However, the bridal and wedding party quarters consist of one tiny closet space that stores tables. I didn't choose this place for my venue, but the reason why I'm even commenting on this place is because I, like Sarah (Wow! She commented in 2007!), felt judged. I guess two years and a different coordinator don't make a difference. When I first entered, Lesley was nice, but when she found out that I was planning my wedding for 250-300 people, her attitude completely changed. I told her I was new at searching for venues, so I had a lot of beginner's questions, and whenever I asked her something, her immediate response was a curt, "What do you mean?" As if my questions didn't make any sense. Her demeanor made me feel like she didn't want to show me the place at all: No smile, no explanation of the venue facilities as we walked through the rooms, and very short answered, condescending replies. When we finally sat down after the tour, her explanation of the services was fast and impatient. The only time I saw her smile (other than my first entrance) was when I got up to leave. I understand a larger guest list means a bigger payout, but I honestly didn't have to be treated so harshly. All I can say is, she did her job: She obviously wanted to shun my "small" wedding away from Villa Ragusa, and she did. Again, good venue, but only if you're planning for over 300 people. We celebrated our wedding reception at VR - it was beautiful. Of all the reception venues in the South Bay, VR is one of the most accommodating. We brought in an external caterer, had a prepaid bar (rather than a per-person package), had the option of upping the bar limit throughout the night, selected the brands of liquor to serve at the bar, brought in additional cases of wine, completely transformed the hall with drapes + lights. VR is also one of the few halls that seats 600+ people. I've been told that parking can be a problem in downtown Campbell, especially on a Saturday night. We encouraged our wedding guests to arrive early, and no one complained about parking. I loved working with Laura - she's super sweet and on top of things. I had a great experience, and would recommend to any bride/groom. read more

Great venue! The place is clean, with nice lobby space, and balcony surronding the building. I DJed a wedding there last weekend and the staff were helpful and friendly, as well as efficient in serving the clientele/reception. They aren't the cheapest venue in the South Bay for sure, but you do get what you pay for, and they are one of the few venues (besides hotels) that can accomodate larger parties (over 300). My husband & I had our wedding ceremony & reception here in September of 2010. Overall, we were happy with the place. The pricing isn't as high compared to other venues & their bar packages offer a great value. We had some hiccups through the process, but that is bound to happen with any wedding planning. There was also a staff change due to an emergency, but Maria Slade was great to work with. If you're planning to have your ceremony and/or reception here on a Sunday, be sure to keep the Farmers' Market in mind. I've been to VR multiple times for various company parties and wedding receptions, (even wedding ceremonies). However I used this venue for my Engagement Party this past weekend and had a great experience with Laura and Hilary. Hilary was originally who was helping when I booked the venue and came in for the walk through but soon after went on to maternity leave and Laura took over. Laura was very very very flexible and accommodating. Because there was no other event taking place the day of my event we were upgraded to the main East Gallery with the larger dance floor and larger bar area at no additional cost. Also, we were allowed to come in the day prior to set up all of our decor. I did not hire outside vendors for any of the decor, it was all me and my team of friends and family and I know that if I were to have needed to come in the morning of it would have been a disaster. I am so grateful to Laura for allowing us a full day in advance for set up. The day of Laura was not there for the event but there was a Manager and another assistant to assist in keeping the itinerary moving along. The place was clean, beautiful and the waitstaff was professional and friendly. At the end of the night we were given an hour of breakdown and clean up time and the staff even offered us some rolling carts to get our heavier items down to our vehicles, one even rolled out a full cart with us down to our vehicles. They were extremely helpful and easy to work with. I would recomend this venue many times over. read more

My husband and I recently had our reception at the Campbell location and we were completely amazed by how perfect the location was. It is centered right in downtown Campbell which allowed for parking and after reception fun. They also were the most flexible out of the venues we looked into and offered a one stop shop for all receptions needs. Therefore relieving the stress of finding your own vendors. The vendors they offered were very professional, personable and high quality. It was the most affordable and reasonably priced (other venues you have to provide your vendors in addition to their cost). They not only offered vendors but coordinated with them so we did not have to. Throughout the whole wedding process, the staff was extremely helpful, got back to you in a timely manner and very took care of all wedding issues the day of the wedding. They made you feel as if this was going to be low stress and they had everything under control. Most weddings people are always concerned that food is never good but the food was excellent. Everyone complimented us on how well the food tasted and the many options that were provided. Lastly, the reception room itself was a gorgeous large room with windows lining the walls and a big bar. AMAZING! I cannot say enough positive things about Villa Ragusa, including the venue itself and the impeccable customer service from Hilary and her entire team! I am the Special Events Coordinator from Presentation High School and we held our Auction Gala at the venue last Fall. This was a brand new venue for us to use for this event and we were incredibly pleased. I was thrilled we were able to use our own catering company (we did have to pay an outside catering fee but it was very reasonable). Beginning from the contract negotiation to the overall year of planning, Hilary's level of customer service makes any other event coordinator's job a breeze and it was so nice working with another professional in the industry! Every detail was perfect on her end and we asked quite a bit from her. She was there every step with our event, including the set up and very helpful with our volunteers. We first found VR because their prices were unbeatable, and we fell in love with the natural beauty of the facility (those arched windows are to die for! and that patio with the market lights were just breathtaking). From beginning to end, Laura at Villa Ragusa was just amazing to work with. She has SUPERB customer service skills. Every question I asked was answered and every detail I requested was delivered. I really can't say enough about her. She is just absolutely awesome. The value that you get at Villa Ragusa is just ridiculous.. it's a STEAL!!! The venue is just so beautiful. We did the highest package, with upgraded chairs, uplighting and draping and it was all sooooo beautiful. Everyone complimented me on how great our venue looked. THE FOOD IS ALSO AMAZING. We were definitely skeptical at the food tasting because we didn't know anything about this chef and usually wedding food is disappointing... but MAN... we loved it all. Our appetizers, passed Hors d'oeuvres and dinner was sooo good. The serving staff is also wonderful. There wasn't an empty glass in the house and The day couldn't have been any more perfect and I couldn't be any more happy that my reception was at Villa Ragusa. read more

On it's face, the day was perfect for the couple. The guests were pleased with the reception. They shouldn't have to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes while your bar help scrambled to get ready. We have video. PSRT catering did a phenomenal job . All that we hoped for from a caterer, they did. They went above and beyond our expectations. That is why our family uses them for all our events. Our recommendation would be to pay us the 900.00 owed for the extra 120 guests that WE did not have. That is fair and equitable . Chanel 7 is on our side also agrees. My husband and I had our reception here recently. We were impressed by VR's strict adherence to our directions. For example, we asked them to start serving appetizers the second the first guest arrived, which is exactly what they did. They did a lovely job decorating, the reception went extremely smoothly, and the staff was always kind and professional. The lighting was great -not too dim for photographs, but not overpoweringly bright. The balconies are also a nice touch for guests to cool off on a hot August night. We ordered food through VR, which was good but not extraordinary. We had the filet mignon with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. The meat was great, but the potatoes were dry and the vegetables were limp. The appetizers (chicken on a stick and mushroom pastries), however, were warm and delicious. The price was reasonable, especially compared to other places we priced. The room (one of the small ballrooms) was $1000, but the food/drink minimum order was $4000, for a total of $5000. read more

I am somewhat surprised by the high rating that this business received. My experience was not as positive. I attended a reunion at this venue which accomodated the event nicely with the exception of parking which was extremely limited and pretty much forced you to use on street parking or find another parking facility. My concerns were with the food; starting with the very wilted baby spring salad. I had to separate the yukky lettuce from the lettuce I could eat. We ordered the meat dish which was so tough you could not cut it with the table knife offered. There were men who pulled out pocket knives to cut their meat. The chicken dish looked over cooked. The cheesecake dessert was ok. A franchise coffee shop might serve food of this quality or better. The facility itself was fine, it accomodated a large number of people, room for a stage, dance floor, bar and silent auction. You could tell the servers worked hard and tried to please the customers. I think I would look for a facility that was better at catering even if it was a little more costly. read more

I was here for an event early in the summer as a guest rather than a coordinator. The price per person was high and the wine that was included in the price was never produced. There were two bartenders for a crowd of 150 and the prices of the drinks kept changing. The first one was $6 the second $7 and after dinner jumped to $8. The food was barely edible and the buffet was set up in an auxiliary room that had all the charm of a multipurpose room at a public high school. In addition to that, while barely into the cocktail hour, a VERY overbearing woman came rushing into the room insisting that we sit down because it was time for dinner. She even physically tried to move us off the floor. I would not attend another event there. read more

I was a basket case when I went in to meet with Alison...my wedding guest list was 525 people! I had been so stressed out b/c the venue that we had initially booked somehow closed down! Alison made me feel at ease...she was so easy to work with. She assured me that everything would turn out perfect on my wedding day...and it sure did! The venue looked great and the food was excellent. Everything went as planned and Alison was there until the very last minute. I've been here a bunch of times (prom, half bro's wedding reception and the last time was for a Campbell Chamber of Commerce event). Every time it's been clean, organized and best of all, fun. I suppose it really depends on how your event is organized but the ballroom is on the second floor and spacious, there are balconies surrounding the room for smokers (yuck), there is also a small bar inside. The bartender at the last event was pretty rude with his "what do you want?" and yelling at people prices, everything that came out of his mouth was a command, I'm not a dog! The food was alright, it was after all, banquet food, we had overdone salmon, overdone prime rib and a veggie option. The best part was the atmosphere, getting to dressed up and during my last event, we had a photobooth! Parking is never really a problem in Campbell, parking garages are across the street (behind Aquis) and there is really limited parking under Villa Ragusa. Bottom line is you can have a fantastic event at Villa Ragusa but again, it really depends on how well it is planned. read more
