I will say.... this place is above and superb. From the moment I walked in to the door, the staff made this wedding a pleasant experience for me. Victoria C. was my coordinator. She made sure she went out her way to make this the best day any woman can ever have!!! My husband and I truly loved her. She was supportive, professional and truly an amazing person. The same for Betsy H. who filled in when Victoria when she was not there. Betsy's level of professionalism is beyond anyone I have ever met. These girls were wonderful in every way. This was just planning and preparing for the wedding day. I shopped around before this place and they were truly the most reasonable place! I had a package deal of $10000.00 for 100 guest and all vendors were included. (DJ, Florist, Videographer, Photographer, Limousine, Etc.) Amazing Value for an amazing place!!! Now the day of my wedding was a dream come true. I left notes on all the little things I had and asked them to set up the tables a certain way and they were excellent! My maître'd was one hell of a woman.. she made sure that our wedding day went smooth and seamlessly as possible. She came up to service us without us having to call her. We had our wedding at the Villa Russo on 7/10/14. I can not even begin to explain how awesome our wedding and entire experience was. From the planning process to the actual event it was amazing. We had both our ceremony and reception at the Villa Russo. From the moment we arrived Kim was by our side taking care of everything and anything that was needed. The staff was professional and attentive not only to the bridal party but to all our guests. The venue is beautiful and the food was delicious. We also got our cake from there and it was AMAZING!! I Had my wedding at Villa Russo this past May and everything was wonderful. Jennifer was very helpful with the planning and answered all of my emails no matter how annoying i might have gotten lol. We opted for the weekday wedding package and added the sweets table which included cotton candy,popcorn,ice cream, candied apples and other treats which was a definite bonus for both our younger and adult guests.The food was good, I actually liked the appetizers and pasta more than the main course, I sampled about three of the five entree choices and my favorite was the eggplant parmesan, the shrimp scampi was also tasty. My favorite thing was my wedding cake it was DELICIOUS we had the yellow cake with cannoli filing and buttercream frosting, so good. The services here was exceptional, my drink was always filled and I was even give food before the ceremony upon request for me and my bridal party because we were famished. I'm often very hesitant to give any venues a full 5 stars but if I could give Villa Russo more stars I sure would! I have had absolutely no complaint or negative experience with them. I was able to find this venue via my internet search. My fiance and I will be getting married next year, and quite honestly are on a budget, as soon as I sent them a message via their website in reference to scheduling an appointment to see the venue, they got in contact with me just a moment later, asking me if i had any questions and confirming the appointment (impressive, considering how busy reception halls can often times be) As soon as my fiance and I walked in they were incredibly attentive, although there was a wait they assured us they would be with us momentarily and i dont think we waited anymore than 5 minutes before our banquet manager came to us. Her name is Victoria (SHE IS THE BEST! I haven't had any other experiences with any of the others, but im pretty sure theyre all equally as amazing) She gave us a very detailed tour of the venue and explained every single detail. I had 3 pages of questions I came with and before addressing any of them I realized she had answered all of our questions already. The place is gorgeous, id definitely recommend the room "The Palace" it seats up to 300 and the balcony and the decor is gorgeous. The bridal suite is currently being renovated but im sure itll look great once its done. It was all within our budget which turned out to be 64ish$ for a saturday night! per person which is fantastic and extremely economic considering the location! We proceeded to make a 2nd appointment for our food tasting which my parents joined me for. Food was excellent! Everything about this place has won me over. They even set up a last minute table for four of us that originally had no intentions of staying for the entire time. The birthday girl will remember this sweet 16 party for a long time. My fiancée and I toured Villa Russo after it was recommended to us. The hall itself is gorgeous, with lots of stone and brickwork that give the venue a real old-world charm. Jennifer was our planner and could not have been nicer or more helpful. We ended up getting their Sunday all-inclusive package, which simplified things greatly - the DJ, photographer, video, photo booth, and limo were all included. We had our whole wedding on-site at Villa Russo, holding our ceremony in the Grotto and our reception in the Palace Room. The event went very smoothly, with tasty food and lovely décor. All the choices we made with Jennifer's help were realized perfectly on the day itself. The maître d' and his team took excellent care of us all day. I couldn't wait to get married here. I found out about Villa Russo from Longislandweddings.com. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Jennifer made planning go very smoothly. Our maitre'd, Eric was on top of everything and did exactly what we requested. My dinner was the steak, which was delicious; all the found was delicious. After we got married in the Grotto room, the wedding party went up to the bridal suite for some private cocktail hour food. We got the Brooklyn cake which fulfilled our needed chocolate desires. We also got the mini Viennese dessert hour, which made our guests very happy. The entire building was absolutely beautiful, which made my wedding like a fantasy. The food was great and my guests said their service was great too.. I gave such low stars bc the person I was originally working with to plan the wedding seemed uninterested. Because of her, I ended up feeling really overwhelmed with all the things she never told me I would need . She didn't reply back most times and she wasn't available a lot. Towards the end I worked with Jen and I really wished I had her from the beginning . Overall, I would recommend this place . Be weary of the all inclusive package . After scouring almost every possible venue in Queens and Manhattan I am still so happy with my decision to go with Villa Russo for my wedding reception, even two years later. Our friends and family *still* talk about what an awesome party we had and how amazingly delicious the food was. Just perfect, classic Italian food. We booked the "Restaurant Grotto" which was split between two rooms: one for the ceremony (later becoming the dance floor) and the other for the actual reception, which worked out excellently for the guests who wanted to enjoy coffee and pastries in a quieter space to chat while others were able to dance separately. Everyone at Villa Russo was extremely flexible and accommodating in giving us the exact experience we envisioned for our wedding day, and allowing us to take control of a lot of other aspects, which we really appreciated - as it wasn't easy to find a caterer willing to do open bar for the full party, including a menu we looked forward to offering, in a space that still represented the vibe we wanted. THe place is over priced and the food is average. For the amount of money I payed to attend the function we had here I was not impressed by the food. The sound system also was not the greatest for the type of event we where hosting. The room was not well heated also and the fact that one parking attendant was only present at the end of the night made the place all the less desirable to want to go back to. read more

Came for a wedding a couple weeks ago. Food was pretty bad. I'm not even gonna say average lol. I didn't think it was possible to mess up chicken parm but this place did it. Not the only one who thought so. The wedding was held in the restaurant part which was nice but a bit out dated. What I didn't like is that they used the room next to the restaurant for the dance floor which was inconvenient as we had to get up like 15 times just to see cake cutting and first dance etc. I like to be able to do that from you table enjoying my food. Villa Russo was one of the more reasonably priced wedding venues when looking for weddings in the Brooklyn/Queens area. That does not mean you have to sacrifice quality, though. When planning our wedding, the banquet manager, Jennifer, was just amazing. She answered every question promptly, even if some of them was advice on outside vendors. She was very helpful and accommodating. Food - just amazing. The tasting was wonderful. All of my guests were very happy with the variety of entree choices, and everyone said it was just delicious. They were also very flexible about choosing items for the cocktail hour and menu. Service - night of the wedding went beyond smooth. Many of my guests said that the wait staff was friendly and very attentive. In addition, the maitre'd, Kim, was just wonderful to myself and the bridal party. She even made sure to pack us some extra food to be sent home, since my husband and I did not get to eat much the night of the party. The palace room looked beautiful the night of our party, especially with the additional uplighting. This venue was perfect for 100-160 person wedding. Cost is about $90-100 a person, with full package - open bar, cocktail hour, cake...etc. Villa Russo made my wedding a success.Could not ask for anything more. read more

We were married at Villa Russo' s this past June and it was absolutely perfect! From beginning to end it was breathtaking. The staff were professional, attentive and friendly. Whatever I needed they were there to assist me. I felt like princess! The food was delicious, and our guests had the choice of 8 different entrees to choose from. We had both our ceremony an reception at Villa Russo. Their rooms are decorated simply but classy. We had very tall centerpieces of flowers in shades of purple, lavendar & white. The ceilings are adorned with tulle and lighting which adds a nice touch for any event. Our guests are still talking about the wedding. My husband and I wanted to do something special for our 15th Wedding anniversary and decided to renew our vows. A friend of mine which has had several functions at the Villa Russo recommended them however we went to see different venues because we wanted to compare them. We showed up to one venue in Howard Beach 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment and she kept us waiting for over a hour after our scheduled time, needless to say we did not go with them. Some places once they get you to sign they forget about you not Jennifer. Jennifer Fulgieri, the Banquet Manager at Villa Russo was wonderful. When my husband and I met with her she was very professional and nice. She patiently answered all of our questions and was also very helpful in assisting us in finding an Officiant. Even a couple of days before our event she emailed me to check on the status of us acquiring an Officiant. With my husband's crazy work schedule we kept missing the numerous cake tasting but she didn't give up she kept emailing us. I emailed her approximately 1 month before our event regarding getting a photo booth and she responded like she always did, in a timely manner. I asked her where we would put it and she asked for the dimensions. After I told her who we were going to get she told me they have been there before and the possible places it could fit. When she found out we had to meet with Paul (photofun man) she suggested we meet with him there the day of the cake tasting so we wouldn't have to make several different appointments. She was very accommodating. A couple of weeks before our renewal we met with her to finalize everything and I casually mentioned that I was looking for Purple Hearts to place sporadically under plates so that person can take the centerpiece. Before I got home she sent me an email showing some hearts she found that I could use. I loved them and she even printed them for me. These are just a few ways she helped. The day of our event she was very busy however she still managed to introduce us to Sal our Maître D and saId if she was needed she would come. Sometime during the evening she came and provided a box for us to put our cards in (something we didn't think of). The Villa Russo was clean, the food was good and the staff was very professional. My husband and I had such a positive experience we plan to use them again in the near future. read more

Had a great time and the staff is fabulous. I just had one complaint because this is an Italian Caterer. I ordered the Veal Masala and it turned out to be a precooked, pre-frozen, breaded piece of veal in what tasted like a frozen Masala Sauce, heated up. It was hard and awful. I just had my wedding here on 10/15/15. I have to say every part of the experience was wonderful! From booking my wedding to the actual day everyone was wonderful and accommodating. Starting with Nicolette who helped me book my event, she was amazing, my fiancée and I decided to get married with fairly short notice and with very little prepared other than a color in mind. Nicolette set up everything, e-mailed me on weekends with ideas for dresses and other things and helped me to make decisions about food, décor and everything. At no point did I ever feel pressured or pushed into anything. She made it feel easy to plan a wedding in less than 2 months! It didn't stop there though, the banquet manager Susanne was also phenomenal she also helped make sure every thing leading up was perfect, she even helped me to design my own centerpieces, and then made sure that they were put together! The day of the wedding, the Maitre D' Kim and her staff were just great! Kim solved every problem, organized the vendors,helped make everything run smoothly and even reminded me to eat! Kim was better in my mind than any day of planner or coordinator that you pay for outside and she was part of the villa! I can't say enough good things about the staff at Villa Russo, oh and before I forget the venue was beautiful and the food was great! Everything was perfect. It is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Queens. If you have never been or are considering it for your wedding or any other event definitely go in and view it! I keep going back and forth between 2 star and 3. I settled on 2 (wish there was a 2.5) Well, I haven't been inside Il Palazzo Villa Russo catering hall in quite a few years and I have to say - NOTHING has changed - I felt like I stepped into an early 80's timewarp! VERY DATED! ha, ha! It was too gaudy in the early 80's for my taste but maybe that's just me! OK the event I attended was wonderful in theory - awesome couple, they had a GREAT DJ - the music was great all night - so this review has NOTHING to do with THEM, it has to do with the place itself! First of all NOT handicap accessible - you would think with all the money the Russo's have made over the years they would have figured something out to update this place and make it handicap accesspble! Cocktail hour down long winding steep marble steps in "the Grotto" Weird table setup - all in rigid rows- looked like a school cafeteria! Cocktail hour food was delicious. I have NO COMPLAINTS about the WAITSTAFF - all professional, courteous, happy, eager to do a good job! So upstairs to the main reception hall - up the steep marble winding steps! Now we are at more tables that are in weird straight parallell rows, with the bride & groom in the center of one wall but VERY DIFFICULT to see anything due to the way the tables are lined up. OK - final comment - on food - sorry, but I think I could have gotten just as good of a plate of food at a good diner. The pasta course was lukewarm at best, the bread on the talbe was dry sliced white bread (where's the good crusty Italian bread or rolls?) The shrimp scampi was also lukewarm and bland. Again, NOTHING AGAINST the actual happy event we were there to celebrate, but once again - THIS PLACE IS STUCK IN A TIME WARP. Nothing original, innovative, fresh or new about anything. I mean, I am 51 years old but everything about this place feels very "old Italian grandma."
