Unfortunately our last visit to Casa Cubana was not great. Service was slow, it took over an hour to get our food and when we did get it, it was disappointing. My friends asked for steak sandwiches and they had more bread than steak. The steak was so small they could barely taste it. My friend and I asked for palomilla steak and got a churrasco cut. We decided to give this a try on a Saturday night, the location is unassuming and it's clear that it's a converted fast food spot as some of the infrastructure still remains. (I think they are trying to get a drive through going?). As we walked to the front door the live music was blaring outside and it was a great night for it..it was a little early so it wasn't too crowded yet but people were enjoying the party. Once inside it was much more quiet, we were actually shocked at how well insulated it was from the music, which is great for those that was a little more cozy experience. We were greeted right away by a very friendly man in a great hat! We had our pick of tables and I would describe the decor as a casual vibe. I'm assuming as the name suggests, it's supposed to feel like you are at someone's home for a party. They had a good bunch of people working and everyone was really nice but they also were clearly family and had some kids running around and just basically enjoying themselves, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The menu was great, loads of options. The drink selection was also good, classic Cuban favorites and others. I chose the coconut mojito and it was fresh made and SO good. For an appetizer we had the guacamole and tostones which were really good, and fresh. For dinner I had the arroz con pollo, which was seasoned really well, the rice was a little under for me but still really good. My husband had the ceviche which he said was the best he's ever had and could have had three more bowls. Overall, great spot. We might come back for the music and drinks on another warm night. Visited on a Friday night, wasn't super crowded (was rainy outside too). Immediately got a seat. Had a DJ, music was very loud (just a heads up to anyone who may not enjoy that). Was a little disappointed in the salsa served as a "free appetizer". Salsa tastes just like Tostitos salsa out of the jar. Expected a little more craftiness from a Cuban restaurant but the chips were really good. Drinks: Mojito sampler all three were delicious. Also ordered a Cuban mule which was fantastic as well. Food: Caribbean jerk chicken and Skirt steak. Both had great flavor. I saw a few comments about the rice not being cooked all the way. The rice is cooked al dente. I personally liked it to break up the texture of the shredded chicken and rice. It made it not as mushy. Do not mistake Cuban food for Mexican food if that's what you're expecting. This cuisine has a style very much its own. Coastal seafood, indigenous fruits and root vegetables contribute to its unique cultural mix. All these influences along with a Caribbean flair, give Cuban food its distinctive, flavorful taste. The only food these cultures have in common is tamales and the love of rice and beans. read more

My friends and I wanted to find and try authentic Cuban food. We drove far into Raleigh to try CC. It was well worth the drive. I was pretty excited to order a cafe con leche. I have to say I've missed having these after living in South Florida. I also have been wanting a real Cuban sandwich. I was very satisfied and savored each bite. I ordered a half order and could only eat half. My friends ordered several items and were very happy. I have to say the pork was outstanding and I equate this to being as good as the roast pork I've had in Miami. Which is a compliment. Our server was super nice and friendly. I've been looking for authentic Cuban food in the triangle area. I came across this restaurant on Yelp and asked my friends to try it out with me. I was not disappointed with my visit to Casa Cubana. My friends and I sat ourselves upon entry. I will say that it took close to ten minutes before were greeted. However, the waiter was very friendly and offered recommendations from the menu. The decor of the restaurant included a Cuban flag, wicker light fixtures and colorful artwork. It all created a comfortable environment. I immediately ordered my favorite drink at the moment-Cafe con Leche. I don't know what it is but this Cuban drink is my thing right now (Please share if you have had great Cafe con Leches in the triangle area-Thank you!) The Cafe con Leche had the perfect amount of sweetness. I also ordered the croquettes (filled with ham and cheese) and the tostones sampler, which is a must try. This review is from a Puerto Rican. The food lacked a significant amount of flavor. The portions were quite small for the price. (The papas rellenas were slightly bigger than golf balls and cost $9.99, basically $5/rellena.) The pernil sandwich was good, but there wasn't that much meat. We had two servers helping us since I am not confident in my Spanish - but I heard the English-speaking one tell the Spanish-speaking one I wanted the lunch portion of the mofongo and the Spanish-speaking server still put it in as a dinner portion (a difference of around $10). I got invited to this restaurant by a friend. The restaurant seems like it took over a fast food building like Wendy's. When going in we got treated with the friendly waitress who sat us down. I ended up ordering the carne frita with rice and grandules as well as the chicken and mozzarella empanadas which was good but the rice I would was suburb. As for drinks a got the very huge and delicious virgin Pina colada. As we finished out we headed outside for the entertainment and there was a woman singing various Spanish music from Salsa, Merengue, bachata and she was good. From time to time the waiting will bring out free Sangria to women only. At 10pm they bring in a Deejay which was playing classic Spanish songs I grew up when I was a kid. I went to this restaurant with some friends to try it out. I was impressed by the selection of food. It was delicious. It also had a lot of options for drinks as well. The waiter was super sweet but not very fast so this is more of a relaxing restaurant than if you have to be somewhere else. I loved the music and the decorations and all the plants because it really made me feel like it was in the culture. However, I did not like that. They had a sign that said that they really only wanted people there for like 2 hours because they were small establishment and they needed to move tables. It made it feel rushed. I've been looking for a good Cuban restaurant...this was not it. Croquettes - stuffed with ham. I was told this is the same as the tropical pickin chicken that was permanently closed. It was very mushy and salty. They were 4 for $6.95. Spicy jerk chicken - shredded chicken in spicy jerk sauce with pineapples. This was supposed to come with yellow and rice sweet plantains. I received salad and sweet plantains. I had to ask for rice. They warned me it was spicy but I got it anyways and I could barely eat it so that was my fault. Chillo frito - fried red snapper. Service: Substandard..waited 5 minutes at the host stand without being acknowledged, I walked up to a waitress who offered me a table..then I waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged or approached and had to get up to ask a waiter to take my order. Once I was served the food, waiter did not return to check to see if everything was alright until I finished eating. Food: Substandard. Too small of a portion of "Steak de Palomilla". Rice was old and had chunks of dry rice mixed within. Flavor was good. Presentation was average with a few randomly placed raw onions on top of the steak and a decorative edible flower on top of the rice. A main issue of concern is that the bill had a price of $22.99 for "Bistec de Palomilla" and the price printed on the menu is $19.99 . At this point I paid the bill, informed the waiter about the problem and left. Now, I visited this restaurant with a friend about one month ago and ordered two bistecs and had the same issue of overpricing on this same item then. At that time I brought this issue to the waiter's attention and he corrected the bill, took off 6 dollars and alerted the Manager about the discrepancy. My question to the Owner is: why was this discrepancy of pricing on the computer and the menu not corrected in a timely manner? Also. Are other items on the menu also currently being overcharged? These management mistakes don't do anything positive for the image of the restaurant . I suggest you get on the ball and offer training to your employees and kitchen staff. The place is nice and there is no excuse for your business to not have an opportunity to thrive. I do wish you success and will most likely return sometime and give your restaurant another review. During the last year we have ordered takeout from CC several times. The food here has always been really really good. Being from NYC we always enjoyed Cuban and Puerto Rican inspired foods. We never dined here but we decided to stop in on a Friday evening. We sat outside and they currently have about a third of their parking lot closed off for outside seating. There is a large tent and a mojito bar under one of the tents. There was some sort of benefit event going on that night and it entailed a zumba class, interesting. I follow their Facebook page and usually on weekends they have a band and dancing outside. As you can see from the photos, we ordered a lot of food. We started with an order of guacamole. It was fresh and the plantains were fried and seasoned very nicely. My wife wanted the ceviche which came with Tostones. The ceviche was delicious. The Tostones that came with it were crunchy and had a nice taste to them. For dinner I went with a Taste of Cuba. This is a sampler dish with chicken, shredded pork and shredded beef. It was accompanied by boiled Yucca, sweet plantains and rice and beans. It was delicious. My wife ordered the bistec de pallomilla which she enjoyed. Pro tip: order the fried rice. It's awesome and we ended taking most of it home. This review is 4 1/4 stars. The food here is very good. The service was little slow but I'll chalk it up to them being short staffed like most restaurants are now. It looked like they only had two waitresses working outside and they were busy. The food was ok to good (hence the 2 stars). The ambience was non-existent. We went for my birthday - because my first choice was full - and literally no one was there. We thought they must be getting ready for an event, but didn't know. We spent a decent amount - $80-90 - and was going to skip dessert because we had cake at home, but the waiter/owner talked us in to getting a flan, which pushed the total to over $100. Then when we got the check we found out that if you have a larger group, or order more than $100 worth, they add a higher tip/fee, due to your having created more work for the waiter. We did no such thing, considering we were 2 adults and 2 kids, who don't eat a lot at this point, and there was literally NO ONE else in the restaurant to serve, meaning no one was overworked due to our little party being the only one there. My husband asked the waiter about it, with no satisfactory result for us. I was appalled. It was my birthday for one, and perhaps the dessert should have been free, or the waiter shouldn't have been so insistent on our ordering something (which is why we only got one to share). Two, the waiter/owner had no customer service skills and seemed to not care that we were unhappy, and did nothing to make our experience better. My family is half Cuban, and I am extremely disappointed. Ordered the Havana Chicken Sandwich which contains "Boneless grilled chicken topped with lettuce, tomatoes, pineapple, guacamole, melted Swiss, mayo and spicy avocado sauce". The order came out with ham added in, I cannot eat ham, no tomatoes and no lettuce. I sent it back, the sandwich came back with the ham taken off (not remade), no guacamole, no avocado sauce, and no pineapple. My mother ordered Viejo Ropa, which the waitress did not inform us that there were two options: beef and chicken. The waitress decided to give her chicken (which tasted freezer burnt) without us knowing there was a beef option that would've been preferred. I ordered a Coconut Mojito, which was very good, accept there was hardly any alcohol. The waitress was noticeably annoyed with us communicating our dismay. No discounts taken off, no offer to order anything else, no issues solved. I would not recommend this business, find better options elsewhere. read more

Tried newly opened Casa Cubana early on a Sunday nite. Food is delicious, service still a little disjointed. A dozen wood top tables ring a few high top tables at the center of the dining room, with a 6 seat bar in front of the kitchen. Cuban music plays at medium volume in the background. We were seated quickly and drink orders taken. A basket of 2 types of toasted, warm bread are served. The mojitos are outstanding. The drink is big - served in water glass. The proportions are perfect - not too strong, not too sweet, nicely muddled fresh mint plus a lime slice and a stalk of sugar cane. Really delicious. The only criticism is that it took a while for the drinks to be served, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. I chalk that up to a new team. To get a feel for the menu, decided to try the Rumba sampler. This is an appetizer for two and is loaded with a shredded pork empanada, ham croquetas, fried pork nuggets, fried chicken chunks, plantain chips and crispy yucca plus 2 sauces for dipping. A minor nit is that the sampler isn't served with plates. Appetizer plates would make this easier to navigate instead of eating over the shared platter. The empanada comes from a nearby sister restaurant (Empanada Factory). It's a delicious crispy pastry stuffed with perfectly spiced shredded pork. The ham croquetas resemble cheese sticks - oblong tubes of ham-based filling, breaded and deep fried. These are OK, but not my favorite - kind of bland. The chicken is small chunks of bone-in meat, fried deep brown. They're crunchy with a garlicky spice to them. Pork nuggets are similarly prepared, small chunks deep fried till crunchy. Both are fantastic dipped in the green sauce; avocado based and extra garlicky. Spicy, but not hot. Plantains are length-wise peels, nice and crunchy. Yucca sliced like steak fries, and deep fried. Each choice is delicious and this a great representation of the menu options. Next, tried the Cuban sandwich. There are a couple of Cuban sandwich options on the menu, the choice this time is Miami style. It's a 9" Cuban bread, piled high with slow roasted shredded pork slathered in a garlic sauce, plus ham, swiss, mayo, mustard and pickles. The sandwich is served pressed, with fries on the side. The pork is moist and flavorful, the garlic sauce a great enhancement. The pork overpowers the other ingredients though, so it essentially tastes like a shredded pork sandwich. The bread could have been pressed longer; its better when it's crustier. Still, a delicious sandwich. Next time I'll try the Tampa Cuban, so I can compare. Lastly tried the black bean soup. This is a great rendition of this classic. Beans soft and spiced perfectly in an earthy broth, slightly thick from the simmering beans. Yum. Did have to go to the counter and ask for a spoon... Again new service working out the kinks. Overall, the food at Casa Cubana is great, with many other entrees to try. I'm sure that as the team settles in, service gets smoother. If you're looking for authentic Cuban, look no further! This restaurant has got it going on! Amazing food, nightly events, salsa dancing classes every Sunday, what more could you ask for? This little restaurant gives off such a welcoming vibe and all the staff are absolutely amazing! I ordered the shrimp ceviche, mofungo sampler, the Cuban, and the Tampa Cuban. The shrimp ceviche was light but packed with flavor. An excellent start to the meal! Then the mofungo sampler! I've never had mofungo before but I'm now in love! Absolutely delicious and each topping (Shrimp, pork, and chicken) complemented the mofungo in its own unique way! You know you can't go wrong with a Cuban sandwich and they definitely didn't disappoint here! And the Tampa Cuban (a little cheesier and with chorizo) was just as delicious! So, we used to like going to this place. But, there are new owners and some big changes. Firstly, when you are seated , you notice they have a cigar menu. No, problemo, we think: we'll be seated inside and all the cigar smokers are outdoors. That's fine except for the fact that they leave a door open between the dining room and the smoking area. It didn't take long for us to smell the cigars, and not long after that for both of us to have a headache. The food is good. No major changes to the menu. First time at Casa Cubana and I was super impressed. The mango mojito was delicious and they have a huge selection of drinks, so I'll have to return to try others. It was raining so we didn't get to eat outside in the tent, but the tables inside were nicely spaced apart and the place was beautifully decorated for Halloween. It was fun to look around and notice the decorations. Our server was Imani and she was sweet and efficient. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and this was was helpful too. We shared the shrimp ceviche appetizer. The taste was amazing. It transported me back to my time in Lima, Peru. It had just the right amount of lime, I could have eaten it all myself except i was sharing with hubby. Then we had the Taste of Cuba. This was great because we got to try three meats, potatoes, plantains and rice. I loved the rice and I usually don't find rice super exciting. All in all this restaurant is a warm and inviting atmosphere, with great food, reasonable prices and you will have a smile on your face the whole time you are there. Casa Cubana iis one of those restaurants that has transformed into club like atmosphere, with seating inside as well as outside. The issue is there are not enough staff to handle the footprint of all the areas, so wait times on food is measured in hours, as we waited two hours for food. Drinks took 30 minutes and the bars main drink is Johnny Walker Black for a top shelf drink, not much variety. Now the music was epic if you enjoy Cuban style dance, so if you go eat somewhere else the get drinks only at this place. Did I mention food?, not only does it take forever, it was overcooked, and the rice was cold. Gratuity was 18% for our party of 10, and yes, with checks split 5 ways each party paid 18% to wait for food that took two hours to be served and wasn't good..
