This is my Happy Place!…read more Happy & efficient customer service. No, not just bog standard... This is real Italian, homey, get in here and eat, chat, stay a while. Happy to find all the ingredients I need to prepare delicious Italian cuisine at home. No, don't be looking for chain stuff this is from the mother land! Happy to get personal service and cooking tips. True Italians love sharing the passion and history of their cuisine. Happy with the prices. They're not here to rob you.. They genuinely want your custom & offer fair prices for great & authentic products. Happy to get cooked food... Arancini is life!! Happy to feel like I've just arrived in Italy. The shop is not huge and that's a good thing. Snug, cosy, welcoming and you're in the mix with true Italians. You name it, Antonio has it (will get it) and guess what... This will be your happy place too. #LiveLifeLikeLDN

While it makes a change from the 99 p stores, Sainsbury's and fishmongers everywhere in Lewisham town centre, it has its Cons. There is as you can imagine, pasta, biscuits , pistachio milk - the standard. Along with fresh olives and meats behind the counter. Surprisingly the fresh counter is reasonably priced, but the cupboard food is extortionately priced - even for Italian imports. Service is also very slow. But it has it's place.

Firstly, deli/restaurant is a bit of an understated and misleading way to describe this place. This…read moreis more of a café/lunch stop/large amazing house with great study and chatting spaces/deli. If I lived in Greenwich this could easily become my favourite café/weekend reading place/social spot. They serve a full selection of coffees, teas, desserts, pastries, cookies, and cannolis. They also have a wide selection of sandwiches, pastas, salads, and savoury pastries. You could fully spend breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. And they also actually do sell sausages (which is what I associate with a deli, anyway). [ décor / vibe ] This place feels more like someone's really awesome home than a restaurant. The space is large but well-used and well-lit. Enough tables for everyone without feeling cramped. There are three floors - whether you want a quiet nook to lose yourself in a book for hours or a place to chat with a group of friends around a table, you'll find the perfect spot. Servers have charming accents and are very nice. Will gently warn you when the place is about to close without being overbearing. Clean, well-lit, neat photos, whimsical produce crates nailed to the walls with jars and packages of pasta, etc. Charming. [ food ] Order at the front counter and your food will be brought to you. Wish we had a chance to try more of the food, but we only stopped in for tea and a snack. The feta pastry we split was fantastic. Would love to go back and try the cannolis. [ conclusion ] A gem of a spot that you could spend so many weekends exploring. Bring a book and/or a really good friend and stay for hours. Lovely place.

One day, I arrived at work to discover that I'd forgotten my sandwich at home. "EGADS!" I cried…read more It was a heart wrenching affair, full of strife and tears, but I had to persevere. Come noon, I found myself on the street walking towards Dulwich centre. It was at this point that I came across La Gastronomia. Henceforth, unbeknown to me, I was saved from the fatal grip of a Tesco lunch. I walked in the store. The walls were lined with beautiful preserves, zesty spreads and fine Italian goods. The display cases boasted fancy meats and cheese along with a tantalizing display of antipastos. They also boasted things like "My food is better than your food" and "I can kick a soccer ball better than anyone!" but the staff did a good job quieting them up. The guy at the counter was very lovely and from hi I ordered a grilled ciabatta filled with goat cheese, pesto and sun-dried tomato. It might have done well with a bit more pesto, but the overall effect was just plain... - no not plain, because it was anything but that - just undeniably satisfying.

Oh this is a dangerous place indeed. A sort of Aladdin's cave of Italian deliciousness. I always…read morepromise myself that I am only going in for olive oil, but deep down I know better - I will emerge with some gorgeous biscuits, a slice of fresh lasagne, some dried pasta in weird and wonderful colours/shapes and some 'to-die-for' tomato sauce. So going back to the olive oil... they sell it by the half litre and will fill up any bottle you have, as long as it clearly shows the capacity. They also sell beautiful bottles to put the olive oil in. I like to make my own chili and garlic & rosemary oils, so it is ideal for me to re-fill those bottles. I don't love the taste of oils, but this one is really mild and lets the salad / food you're cooking do the talking rather than taking over - which is exactly what I look for in my olive oil. I would highly recommend this gorgeous place and tell you to take your time, spend plenty of time (and money!) getting some real Italian treats.
