978th different cheesesteak in the last four years. It was morning so I got the JoJo, steak, egg and cheese on a long roll. This cheesesteak was easy to eat. The roll was fresh and had a nice glaze on it. The meat was juicy. The eggs and meat were mixed nicely together. I wish there was more cheese and a better melt. I found this restaurant on Uber Eats and decided to give them a try since it's local. I ordered the Chicken Parm sandwich. It was HUGE!! Very very large size, I was so full by the time I ate it all. The sandwich was a little messy (covered in tomato sauce, but that's exactly how I like it - I'm glad they provided a lot of napkins in the bag!) Not sure what causes it. But the last two sandwiches I got here recently had Iceberg lettuce that was bitter. It was very bitter the first time and I ended up removing it from my cheese steak hoagie. 2nd hoagie was an Italian, so I don't think the heat of the sandwich has much to do with it. read more

Yesterday I showed up a couple minutes after 7:00 in the morning and found the front door locked. Inside, one of the new staff pointed to her wrist and shouted through the glass "8:00 o'clock." Of course, as a man of leisure who is never hungry in the morning, I'd be happy to wait an hour for a bacon-egg-and-cheese. It didn't used to be like that. When we opened a new office in Jenkintown I was delighted to discover the Village Deli. So much better than a national chain with their anemic hoagies slapped together by a indifferent knuclehead who'll be gone in a month. The owner -- I think his name was Nick -- could take your order, cook the food, and ring you up (all while opining on the state of politics or what's wrong with tonight's starting line-up). A fresh breakfast sandwich (not a microwaved egg at some chain) usually took under two minutes. Nick used to get in early and you could pretty much count on a breakfast sandwich anytime after 5:00 a.m. At lunch they used to drop off sandwiches at our office about a mile away within minutes. Sadly, Nick retired. The new owner now has a staff of five to replace him. When they aren't standing around looking confused, they're stumbling over each other. Where Nick could make six sandwiches at a time, the new grill-person makes one. at. a. time. While you wait. And wait. I called in a lunch order last week and the voice on the phone told me "uh, yeah, um, I don't think we have anyone to deliver." Undaunted, I drove down the street. Waiting forever for a hoagie, another old regular made eye contact, shook his head, and mouthed "not the same." He's right. Nick's gone, and it's a damned shame. read more

Just ordered breakfast for our family. A very bad experience all around. We did the online ordering. One sandwich did not go through on the order. All rolls and bacon were to be well toasted and well done. If anything was toasted, we could not tell. The bacon was almost raw it was so chewy. We ended up using half of the meal for compost. The poor woman working this morning was all alone and it seemed she was not given equipment to toast or to cook bacon well done - not her fault. Given all the good reviews for hoagies, they should stick with their core business and stop serving these subpar breakfast sandwiches. I asked for recommendations on things to go with the ham capicola sandwich and the man behind the counter suggested some things to make it a true Italian sandwich. Super friendly owner, clean and delicious french fries. I had a turkey club that was pretty good but as far as cheesesteaks/cheesesteak hoagies they are fair at best. I've honestly had a better cheesesteak at a hospital cafeteria. The first time I ever didn't finish a cheesesteak in my life. The quality of the meat is poor/cheap. It's understandable if you have a hotdog cart or don't sell many cheesesteaks but I'd imagine they do. That's just a sign of either laziness or incompetence. So today May 15th, 2021, was the 3rd time I had Ordered food from the Village Delicatessen and they did NOT disappoint. Today, I ordered a Corned Beef & American Cheese sandwich on Rye bread and it was delicious! Just like my Italian Hoagie and my Roast Beef & Cheese Hoagies before today. I am so loving everything I have eaten from this deli. And the Deli Workers are so Very Friendly, Helpful & Patient with me and quite frankly with ALL Their Customers BOTH in-person and over the phone, too.
