Village Inn was one of our favorite local spots to eat. The past few years they have gone down hill fast. We had a horrible experience last year but decided to give it another chance. BIG mistake! First of all the manger spends more time canoodling with the kitchen staff than doing her job and tending to customers. Secondly the food was horrible! I would have preferred a Hungry Man over what they served us. The chicken soup was sour, meat dry and vegetables uncooked.When our server asked how everything tasted and we said horrible she did nothing to try and rectify the situation . I left my whole meal on the table, it was not edible. I'm not sure who owns Village Inn now but it needs a major overhaul, staff first. read more

We stopped in for a quick hot breakfast while we were in Farmington visiting friends. The restaurant was pretty busy, we got seated immediately. The restaurant was clean. Ryann was our server. She was super friendly and kept out water glasses topped off. My wife got her usual, the Denver omelet. It was delicious. Make sure you get the green chillies on the side! They are the perfect compliment to the omelet Let me just point out one thing. You can tell a lot about the way a kitchen is run in the restaurant by paying attention to the little details. Most of the time when you go to a restaurant and order toast with your breakfast, the toast is a little bit of an afterthought. Sometimes it's overcooked sometimes it's undercooked sometimes it's over buttered sometimes it's under buttered. This rye toast that was sent out with the meal was absolutely delicious. It was just the right amount of crispness, It had just the right amount of butter on it. It was very fresh bread. It was delicious. I got the 2-2-2. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The sausage was perfectly cooked also. My only issue with my breakfast was the pancakes were just a bit on the dry side. This was a nice surprise for dinner. I had no idea what VI is. But I would call it simple dining and a pie shop. We had a Rueben and onion rings and a Cobb salad. This one in Farmington was clean, great service with genuine smiles and the food was incredible. We got the strawberry crepes, and 3 unique specials: hatch Chile Farmington breakfast, the ono chicken fried steak stuffed hash browns and the Bacon Queso stuffed hash browns. This is a classic Village Inn. This particular one had great staff who were very attentive as well as the usual menu which you will find it most any village inn. The food was also very good and the waitress made sure it was prepared how I wanted it It all so had some New Mexico twists to it of course by having green chili omelets in green chili seasonal food. The parking was Good and plentiful. And there wasn't a long way to sit down even though we had a large group. Let's see. Left my hotel because they weren't serving food for breakfast. I noticed a The Village Inn. I have eaten there before and the food is always been OK. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I cannot say the same for how my food is prepared at this establishment are. I ordered French toast, two eggs over easy wheat, toast, and hashbrowns. The French toast was soggy and you can taste the raw egg. My hashbrowns were cold when the waitress told me, my plates were hot, the eggs over easy were supremely over easy and not even thoroughly cooked. And the toast was not wheat. It was some multi grain with a lot of nuts in it. Does everything in this world have to suck. How hard is it to cook eggs and warm up hashbrowns. They come half cooked from the manufacture, sad to say I will never go to Village Inn ever again because of your establishment. Nice job. read more

The service was decent on each visit with refills offered on drinks (iced tea and coffee). We were actually seated at the same booth for dinner and breakfast, different servers. Village Inn is a large chain that dishes out poor quality food at affordable prices. The food isn't prepared fresh daily, rather ordered from food distributors and served to the masses. How anyone could give this better than even a 3-star baffles me. The food is sub-bar, at best. In fact, I wouldn't eat anything other than breakfast here. Meanwhile, if Denny's, IHOP, Shoneys, Bob Evans, Waffle House, etc, are you favorite restaurants you'll love this Village Inn, which gets tons of traffic from the few hotels that surround it. Sure, it's cheap. No one is going to argue that, but the quality is terrible. Our breakfast was below average. The bacon tastes microwaved, our toast resembled something that was bought in the grocery store aisle weeks ago and they brought us the wrong pancakes. It's your average American chain, low grade diner. What is worth stopping in for, however, if a slice of pie. In fact, it's the only reason we'd come back. I'm a Fort Worth Texas man and have been going to Farmington to vacation in the region for over 15 years. And in that time the only place I eat is at this Village Inn. The menu is spectacular - such a wide variety, every thing is delicious and cooked to perfection. The pies are out of this world, so good I watch my wife's face when eats her first bite, food that makes you smile.
