This is a great find while traveling. One of the few hotel recommendations that turned out to be a positive spot. Everything is what you want, clean restaurant, super friendly staff from the moment you walk in, helpful waitresses who showcased real favorites and a meal that was great. this place is a hard no for me. We were treated horribly. out of 4 orders 3 were wrong. waitress admitted to placing the order wrong and had to fix it then instead of the kitchen fixing the order immediately they place its in the back of the line. we sat at this place for an hours and a half while watching other families arrive after us , eat and leave while we were still waiting for the "fixed order". We asked to speak to a manager, which we were not granted because the waitress said she already spoke to him and the only thing they could offer us is one free dessert. When expected to pay the full price and they would not budge. They absolutely refuse to give us a discount. The customer service of this place is disgusting, which explains a low rating. I will never patronize this restaurant again. Sidenote, I pre-busted the table for them, we did not leave a mess and cleaned up everything. This place was just ok. I was craving moms cooking so and a hot roast beef dinner. My dinner was swimming in gravy. Nothing had taste to it. I salted my food 3 times!! Just couldn't get over how much gravy there was. The club sandwich was good. We ended up sharing that. The curly fries tasted like it was from the fair - Delicious!! Onion wings were just .... Family went to Dad's Diner last night. Have some pros and cons to share. Pros: -The restaurant was clean Staff were cleaning chair legs and tables that weren't being used. No dust on the window sills. -Staff were friendly. Not overly fake and not unapproachable. Great service. -Most of the food was good. My and my son's burgers were good, along with the onion rings. My daughter and my wife's breakfast food was mostly good. Chicken fried steak was cooked well and eggs were as expected. Cons: -Restaurant was out of biscuits for biscuits and gravy. We ordered a different breakfast meal with a side of gravy and we were charged $2.00 for the side of gravy. The whole breakfast itself was about $10 and you're going to charge us an additional 20% of the price just for gravy? Then when we got the gravy, it was grainy and pretty flavorless. -My son and I ordered soda, a Pepsi and a Cherry Pepsi. Sodas are listed as $3.50 (which is already kinda high), but I was charged $4.50 because it had cherry syrup; though the difference is not listed on the menu. -The breakfast hashbrowns are some of the weirdest potatoes I've seen. They're shredded like thin and long spaghetti noodles. Half of them were undercooked or totally raw. When I addressed the hashbrowns, she said they were recently changed from a different hashbrown and she did not offer to help with properly cooked hashbrowns. Feedback: -Change your hashbrowns to a normal style of hashbrown and please make sure they're cooked all the way through. -Be more transparent with your pricing. If it's not listed on the menu, then make sure the customer is aware when they make the request. -If you're going to have your Yelp link on your FB page, then claim your Yelp page and take ownership. read more

What can I say? You can't really screw up breakfast but the ambience in this place really makes it stand apart from other restaurants, especially chain restaurants that serve breakfast. I enjoyed looking around at all of the vintage articles on the walls and the great 50s feel of the diner. Definitely worth a stop if you're into ambience. read more

Food has gotten real bad. Service horrible. I got a bowl of chili dumped on me and the waitress never apologized or cleaned the mess. I went to the bathroom to run my hand under cold water as it burnt my right hand. I came out only to find my husband and grandson sitting there still with the mess. I had to go ask for ice for my hand. The manager hears me ask for ice and never comes over to ask what happened or to clean the mess. I again have to go ask for the manager. No one took responsibility and the manager would not even give me an incident report of what happened. I had to call the police to get an accounting of what happened. My husband was so upset he paid the bill and waited outside because he was furious that no one apologized or offered to clean up the mess. The owner is called and he instructs the manager not to talk to me. read more

So, my first time to Dad's Diner. I went on a Saturday, which = traffic. The parking lot was not too full, however the restaurant was packed! There are five of us and we were stuck with in a small four person booth. I ordered a burger and fries. My son ordered enchiladas. I had a few bites of my before my son was complaining about his enchiladas. I traded with him. He ended up with my burger and I ended up with his enchiladas. I thought the enchiladas tasted okay, but very greasy ground beef. The beans and rice were good. The burger had very greasy buns, and you could tell that the burgers were preformed and packaged. I reserve the right to change my mind on Dad's Diner. I will go again to see if I have a different food experience. I would like to go there for breakfast. read more

This " hole-in-a-wall" type place is more than that. I grew up in the four corners and I was never brought up in a "dine-in" type of place. My childhood consisted of family; pitching in together and talking amongst each other at the Golden Corral. Gross I know now. When I was old enough to have a job of my own I saved up for my very first vehicle (which I came to miss very much after selling). The very first restaurant I had with someone I cared about was a Fiesta Mexicana and it was very VERY "meh" at best. For years I remember growing up chasing girls and hanging out with my dearest friends with the fluorescent buzz of the neon lights that I never stopped at; Dads Diner. It wasn't until my twin boys were 3 years old and I worked with a family friend that brought me to this establishment. The first time I stepped foot in Dads Diner... the noise of people not only talking but connecting with each other, filled the air with acceptance. I felt like I was heard and comfortable immediately. Seeing the nostalgic environment was breathtaking and felt like it was straight out of a Riverdale experience. I could go on for days but for now it's a down to earth place that has food great enough that allows me to reconnect with my kids when they experience their ups and downs in life. Dad's Diner is the latest casualty harmed by the younger generation's lack of work ethic and understanding of the importance of customer service. I have been a regular at Dad's since it opened when I would go with my family to enjoy breakfast on the weekends. When I went out on my own, Dad's became a treat I would work into my budget. Currently, I frequent Dad's about once a week when I am too tired to cook and still want semi-homemade meal in lieu of fast food. In the past, the staff have been friendly and paid attention to detail making sure customers received what they ordered. When I experienced subpar service, it was usually due to inexperienced persons who were quickly mentored by the old guard. I liked that I was supporting a local business and could make small modifications to suit my preferences such as change the type of cheese or substitute hash browns for rice on my enchilada plate. I usually get my orders to go and recently have been experiencing that no matter how many times I have the person on the phone repeat my order, I show up and my order is not correct. I have also noticed a great deal of turnover and none of the familiar faces that give great service. The employees walk around with cell phones in their back pockets where they are habitually removed, becoming detractors to the tasks that were once the pillars of a great local eatery (i.e. conversations with customers, checking order correctness, making sure drinks are full). Tonight, without warning I was told that new policies had been put in place that no longer allowed substitutions. I can no longer get Swiss cheese instead of American on my Panther burger nor can I replace the rice with potatoes on my enchilada plate. I have come to feel like I am an inconvenience rather than a reason for this business. This atmosphere and business philosophy has become the norm for the faceless franchises and I have chosen to limit my business dealings with entities who treat me as though I, the customer, need them more than they need me. I am sad that a once great local diner has decided to adopt the cold and robotic practices of the franchises. read more

It was Thursday morning 9:30 am and packed, so we thought it must be good. This may have been my worst Diner breakfast ever. My husband had a traditional eggs, bacon, hash browns biscuits & gravy, I had Chicken fried steak, hash browns, dinner salad. First our hash browns were barely cooked, mush not crispy. We were in no rush, so what's up with that? We love hash browns but didn't eat these. Biscuits were so so & gravy just white pasty & plain. Chicken fried steak was edible but nothing to brag about (and the menu definitely bragged) covered with that gravy I mentioned. There was a super bland canned corn on the side with parsley or something mixed in. And I mean super bland! The OJ was extra sweet so not sure why? Cooks can't do everyone's job. We sat there for 5 minutes wondering what was going on. Went to the cashier and three other waitress just stood there and laughed. I have been a regular customer of Dad's Diner since it's beginning. I had lunch there today with one of the worst experiences of all time. I went there about 11:15 and sat at the counter. Was about 10 minutes before anyone even noticed I was there. Finally Alex stopped to get my drink and take my order. I ordered wings and curlies and diet Pepsi just like many times before. Alex kinda acted like she was pissed at the world about something. Finally got my order, out came a basket of 4 wings and 1/2 order of curlies, wings were not even breaded, just over fried skin only wings. I had this happen one time before several months ago. Usually I get 8 wings in one basket and a whole order of curlies in another basket. I still paid $15.39 for this order, it took forever to get my ticket to pay and get my change. Even the customer 2 stools to my right told them I was trying to pay. I usually just pay with a $20 bill and tell them to keep the change, but today, I just left a $2.61 tip to reflect my dissatisfaction. I sure miss Lonnie at times like this. When I first ate here everything was great. Few times I've gone back it's been going downhill. Food was okay. I ordered a club sandwich, nothing special. They have a good selection to chose from. Customer service could've been better, they need a more organized system when they are busy, they didn't write names down or anything. So that caused other people waiting to cut other groups. Dads diner is one of a kind and I truly enjoy eating there the morning I head back to Arizona from my hometown of Farmington. My dad only chooses to go out to eat on rare occasions such as these and his idea of eating out is Taco Bell. He makes an exception for two places. Dads diner being one of them and his number one choice. I personally always get the southwest eye opener. With the green chili of course. The flavor is amazing and the burrito is so filling. Bone in Ham was delicious, egg over easy was exactly right, biscuit was fresh and sausage gravy was decent. Hash browns were moist and lightly browned. The coffee was just plain awful!!!
