I'm guessing we all came in at approximately the same time. It became abundantly clear -very quickly---that there was only one waitress and I'm guessing only one cook in the kitchen. The food came out of the kitchen in the order the orders were placed. SLOWLY The over medium eggs I ordered came out so over done you couldn't cut the egg with a fork and my crispy bacon was cremated! My husband's French toast and sausage was ok. We waited for about an hour for food before we left. We were seated by the kitchen and could literally see a waitress eating over the counters where food is prepared with her bare hands. Food was also just being microwaved and sent out. While it was very busy and a wait time is understandable, what was seen in the back was atrocious and we wouldn't have eaten even it was fast. Talking about location up the hill from Augustana College. Website Serverely lacking or I could've sited exact location. Decent friendly service. Good basics. A cheeseburger is a cheeseburger, a club a club. We have at least one meal there when dropping our child off at Augustana and when picking up. Good prices, good food. This place was my home away from home throughout a lot of high school and first couple years of college. Food-wise, typical chain stuff, but VI is usually better than most. Let's just say I've never had a bad meal here. And I've had a lot. People-wise this place can not be beat. Ever. Seriously. When you see people waiting tables at the same place for 16+ years and see folks who work there stay afterward to eat you know they're doing something right. They've gone through renovations, lost a smoking section, and went through a slew of other changes but managed to keep the ambiance. This is probably the only chain of anything I can give a 5-star review to and feel honest about it. When I visit friends in the Quad Cities I will drive past five VIs that are closer to me and go to this one. It's not that the others are at all bad - it's just that this one is that good. read more

Our son goes to school across the street at SAU and this is our go-to for taking him out to breakfast. The food is always so good, especially the skillets. The kids loved their strawberry crepes and banana pancakes and my husband loved his cod sandwich. And the service is outstanding. Our sever was very sweet. A great experience every time. read more

Worst meal I've had here. I ordered there Hot Pot Roast dinner, it was to the table in less than five minutes, the broccoli wasn't cooked, the beef was cold, the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes, toast was cold. I ordered ice tea with my meal and only saw my waitress once for service. When the manager asks me how my meal was, I'm honest about my disappointment and he just says I'm sorry, doesn't offer compensation and I get the feeling this is the status quo now for this restaurant. I stopped by Village Inn in Moline with a friend and when we went to Pay The Bill the total was $ 16.21. But when we asked to split the bill Supervisor Mr. Ramirez stepped in to help and the bill jumped up to $ 22.64 for both of us. So I offered to pay the whole original amount but he would have nothing to do with it. I walked back to the kitchen area and found the manager and tried to explain our problem. She told me that they were a Corporate Store and she could not help me. She would not even listen to me about our problem with the bill. She told me if I wanted to complain go the their Website. We will NEVER stop at Moline's Village Inn. I will never eat at another Village Inn even if they gave away the food. Hubs and I had breakfast before going to the YMCA next door to watch our grandsons' swim lessons. I didn't mind the wait of 20 minutes or so. The wait for the food was long, 20 minutes or so also. I ordered the California Skillet. Our waiter was really nice. He apologized for the wait for the skillet and assured us our food would be out soon. Hubs got poached eggs, sausage, toast. Ordered the club sandwich many times, along with smothered chicken, the pies, strawberry crepes, and the rio grande skillet. All not bad. I have eaten at this location a few times. Had I written a review prior to today, it would have likely been 3 or 4 stars. My experience today, however, prompted my decision to never to go there again. It was a Sunday around lunchtime, so we expected it to be busy. We called maybe 10-15 min ahead because we have a larger than average a group - 10 people. As expected, it was busy and most tables were full. The gentleman who was hosting was very polite and kind. He was attempting to get us seated at a large empty table he had ready for us when his female manager came up and discouraged him from seating us there for reasons that were not clearly audible (though I did hear some comments about reservations and whatnot). In general, her comments were clearly not pleasant. The large empty table was then filled with other patrons. We waited, which was no problem. A few tables that were adjacent to one another became open and were cleaned and set up. Again, the kind host attempted to seat us and was intercepted by this manager. Without so much as acknowledging our presence, the manager sat several parties in front of us who had just entered the restaurant... right into these open tables. Taking into consideration the obvious lack of other tables, the 20+ minutes we had already waited, and the manager's rather appalling behavior, we decided to leave the restaurant and go somewhere else. We ended up visiting the family restaurant a short distance away. There, the service was nothing short of outstanding, the food was delicious, and a great time was had by all! I will be visiting this place again... unless that host becomes manager. read more
