I just don't see it these days. They run a number ads now on some cable channels for this location, but the value is just not there for the buck....not at all. We end up spending as much or more here on a couple of rib dinners than we would spend for two really good steak dinners at say a Texas Roadhouse. When we get the bill we look at each other and we're like what did we do that for? Part of the problem is some items are ala carte, such as a salad, baked potato, etc. As the rule the included sides are horrible quality (such as the corn cob and others) in our opinion. You can buy a box of Famous Dave's cornbread and they are actually much, much better made and baked at home than we can get here. I find even that amazing. Done this many times. It doesn't make a lot of sense. For years we were disappointed being served racks of ribs and you had to really search to find much meat on them. Even though that problem seems to have been corrected on the last couple of tries, the value still isn't there....not for us. You can't even get something as simple as cottage cheese for a side, yet a number of places we have ordered ribs....you can. A waitress even told us once, no....no, cottage cheese. I wish we did. We're down to where we might try it once a year just for fun and to see if anything has improved, but I'm not even real sure about that. I've been to a few different Famous Dave's and in different parts of the country, so when I was taking a trip in Davenport, Iowa, we gave it a shot. I ordered one of the major platters to be split among 5 people which was enough food. They have a variety of different types of BBQ sauces to choose from. Their side dishes were solid. We also saw a promotion for a free sandwich if we downloaded the App and started a new account, so I started an account, got a the free sandwich and got rewards points for the meal. It's not the best BBQ I've ever had but a pretty solid choice, and now that I know there is a rewards program it might factor into some of my future planning. read more

I like Famous Dave's but they need to be consistent with their ribs . Two visits ago we had the best ribs ever , tender almost falling off the bone delicious. In our last visit , on my wife's birthday celebration, the ribs must have been leftovers, reheated and dried to the bone . We requested they bring us another batch and these were very meaty but dry . Like I said before, I like Famous Dave's however I will start looking for alternatives .Any suggestion in the Quad Cities ? I gave a 3 star rating because of recent experiences (last 5 visits ) . The service at Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que was super but the barbecue was middling. It was my first time at this chain and while there were some definite positives, there were no home runs. I probably won't come back unless it's somebody else's idea. The macaroni & cheese was my favorite part of the meal. It was creamy and pleasantly spicy. My pulled pork sandwich was wholly forgettable, but not bad. I love when BBQ places have a variety of custom sauces available and theirs didn't change my life, but it was fun to them out. Our waitress was funny, nice, and attentive, and our food was served in a timely manner, even though, in addition to our group of seven, there were two large parties present. Looking for BBQ so stopped here to try it out. Used the bathroom before being seated. It was filthy - not just dirty but layers of grime, disgusting floor, strong odors. Didn't appear to have been cleaned any time recently. Walked out. Never tried the food. If they don't care enough to maintain the bathroom I'm not going to trust their attention to sanitation in food prep either. read more

While I usually find the best BBQ at smaller independent places, Famous Dave's provides excellent quality BBQ, even for a chain. On this trip i had ribs and burnt ends. The ribs were large and meaty and the burnt ends smoky and saucy. There are six sauces provided at the table:3 sweet, two hot and a carolina mustard. All are great in their own indivudual ways. My sides were mac n' cheese and cole slaw. They were just OK. I think the sides could use an overhaul both in variety and quality to match the quality of the meat. The decor is Southern Rib Shack with lots of stuff on the walls and pictures and awards from BBQ competitions. read more

I gotta have ribs! St Louis style 6 bones with mashed potato & broccoli. My server was Britni and those were her recommendations--she was right. The ribs were firm but came off the bone easily but not mushy. Just enough sauce to be tangy but not covering up the smoke of the rib. Mnmmm so good. Afterward Britni recommended the brownie -- another home run but enough for 2-4 to share. I couldn't eat it all. If BBQ is what you have a hankering for this is the place. Chronically bad take out service. Every time I have ordered out with them (3 to be exact), they quote a time and then don't meet it. It's even at the point where this last time I gave them an extra 10 minutes before going in because I knew what to expect. I get inside, there is a customer there to pickup her food, then they go in the back to get it. They come out 3 minutes later with no food and tell her it's not ready. The next person in line gets told their food isn't ready yet either. In the meantime, the first customer's food is ready and the person behind the counter opens the cartons to show the customer what was prepared, it was wrong, customer now has to go wait in the bar. I get up there, 35 minutes after placing my order, 10 minutes longer than they had said over the phone, and I tell her my name and she goes in the back. She comes out and says, "that will be 25 minutes" and I said no way. Clearly they either lost my order, or are just completely incompetent (most likely) at taking orders to go. Meanwihle my wife and child are sitting in the car. 10 minutes later they finally get my order out. They weren't even busy at the time. If this had been the first time it's one thing, but holy crap, is it that hard to figure out? Other restaurants on the planet have managed to get this down. This is the best BBQ in the QC. I know its a national chain, but it plays to all the stereotypical things I like. Blues music, BBQ, and southern front porch atmosphere. I also think they have the best ribs in town (I have had Jim's). Recommend : The all American feast, 4 people and all the good stuff, with Texas brisket. Now the rest of this is more about why people here don't know BBQ. They just like boiled meat and BBQ sauce. One of the places people say to get good ribs is the circle tap. Its boiled ribs place in an oven to dry then out. You NEVER boil any BBQ. That is called soup. Dave's might boil them, but at least it doesn't taste like it. Jims is ok. I think they have gotten lazy though. In general just because it has BBQ sauce on it doesn't make it BBQ. (AKA the McRib, BBQ Pizza, Etc) read more

Famous Dave's is pretty good. They have great sweet tea and their waitresses are always very pleasant. The atmosphere is very cute. Stick to the meat products though because their salads are DISGUSTING!!! My mom and I ordered a salad there before and the lettuce was old and brown. The veggies tasted like they had been sitting out for a long time and the dressing was gross. I've had their lemon pepper chicken though and that is VERY good. Just stick to the meat and you'll be happy. read more

Finger lickin' good BBQ. I think the sign of a good BBQ place is when you are licking the sauce off your fingers... I do enjoy all of Famous Dave's BBQ sauces, but the Rich and Sassy is my favourite. I like my sauce with a hint of sweetness and a hint of spiciness... just to leave you with a reminder on your tongue. The ribs are good, although a few times they have been a little tough rather than fall off the bone. I do think that their ribs are rather pricey compared to other BBQ restaurants. The chopped pork is really delicious. Always tender, always juicy and really good with the Rich and Sassy sauce. As for sides, I always get the fries... so delicious and crispy on the outside, but soft and tender on the inside and the corn on the cob... only once was it overdone. And the cornbread is delicious as well. The service is usually pretty good, in fact I don't remember ever having a bad experience there and don't think we've ever had to wait for a table either. And make sure you go when you're hungry... I always leave absolutely stuffed. read more

This is my first experience at a Famous Dave's. I'm completely 100% satisfied. There is nothing they could have done any better. First time I ever had catfish fingers and it's amazing. We got a pineapple flavored chicken wings as an appie and it was amazing. The sweet and zesty sauce is amazing. Our waitress was amazing. After walking in we had to wait for a little while which wasn't a problem it was 20 mins too, that's not what we are upset about, our orders were mixed up more then once we didn't get what we ordered and it took 30 mins just to get our tickets right after mixing them up more then once. Every time I'm back in Davenport visiting family, I make it a point to eat here. Their ribs are quite delicious. Although, they dont have the at home feeling like Jim's Rib Haven, it's a pretty good place to eat for a cookie cutter rib joint. Service is always friendly and on time. Decor is nice, but not memorable. Dave's is a bit expensive though - $21.00 for a full rack of ribs? Seriously? Last I checked Iowa was a pig state. Add in the sides, and the total meal will lighten the wallet. Still, I would say it's worth it. Too bad this franchise isnt in the southern states. read more
