I had an extremely concerning experience at WAVE this past weekend after bringing my dog in for an…read moreinjured paw. First, they strongly pushed a $200+ opioid pain injection, despite the fact that my dog was not exhibiting signs of significant pain. I repeatedly said I did not want him given an opioid unnecessarily and had to advocate extremely hard for that decision. I was even told that they may not treat or clean his paw unless I agreed to the injection. I ultimately refused it, and he was completely fine and showed no signs of being in pain during the procedure. I was also told that he needed a $237 antibiotic injection, and I was not given a meaningful choice about declining it. I subsequently brought him to his regular veterinarian, who examined his paw and told me that an antibiotic was not necessary at all. I was also told that even if an antibiotic had been warranted, there were inexpensive oral options available for approximately $15. Another extremely troubling part of this experience was the billing. The estimate presented to me when I authorized treatment was approximately $600. When it came time to pay, my bill was approximately $800. When I questioned the additional $200, I could not get a satisfactory explanation. Even more concerning, they then pulled up what they claimed was my "signed estimate," which showed approximately $800, but that is not the estimate or amount that I reviewed and signed. I specifically asked for the doctor to call me so that I could discuss these concerns with her directly and give her an opportunity to explain what happened. She never called. This experience left me seriously questioning whether these expensive injections were being recommended solely because they were medically necessary or whether financial considerations were influencing the recommendations. Based on my experience, I would not trust this hospital to make treatment recommendations for my dog again.

They got us in right away; we had so many tests that had to be run and they made sure our older boy was seen immediately. He wound up having a spot on his lung that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. The other vet didn't even listen to his heart. Our other dog had to have a mass removed from his leg and the first place we went said they would have to completely sedate him. Not Dr. Davis! They were able to remove it easily. It turned out to be cancerous, so we got X-rays and ultrasounds scheduled right away, just in case. Their ultrasound technician only comes on Thursdays, so you may have to wait a week to see them. Their pricing is reasonable and Dr. Davis always makes sure to speak with you at every visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I wish we lived here full time so we could always go to him!

Could he come back later? Could you at least look at him? Her response: He doesn't have an appointment, so he can't be seen. Just a stone-faced, stone-cold NO. Yes, I know: This was one receptionist, on one day. But if a person of this demeanor can be employed here, it's not a good indication for this practice.

The aggressive tone towards us felt like an attempt to try to bully us instead of fixing the expensive mistake that they made. Their view of "customer service" was to tell us that because it was a miscommunication (which they blamed on us although it's never happened before) we would need to pay for ANOTHER haircut at a later date. Who would ever think that this is a fair and reasonable outcome? These people are not honest and do not understand that as a business owner you need to build trust and loyalty. We originally came here bc we have used the veterinarian, but will now be changing this because we do not feel like are decent people. For grooming we highly recommend either Groomit or The Ruff Life, they both come to you, actually follow instructions, have amazing service, are much more efficient, and are actually nice. I recently filled out the online questionnaire for a puppy adoption and received a prompt message that all was fine with my application and that all required was a call from them to my veterinarian. Two days later contacted ARF to get an update. The cold reply from ARF is that they gave the puppy away already. Never a courtesy call back or message to share the news that my application had been tossed because someone showed up while ARF awaiting callback from my Vet. Happy the puppy found a home. Very disappointing client relations with ARF. People who fill out all those questions on the application are already emotionally vested. Terrible community relations. Maybe ARF should get the veterinary part of the interview process done first so this kind of BS doesn't reoccur.

He was in critical condition, and though we arrived only 10 minutes late for our appointment--due to traffic--they refused to see him. Despite being his primary care provider and clearly seeing he was in distress, they told us to find another clinic because he didn't look like he would make it another day. The vet walked past us twice without even acknowledging us or our dog. I can't understand how someone in this profession could show so little compassion. We were heartbroken. Thankfully, Olde Towne Animal Hospital, where our dog had never been before, told us to come right away. They took him in immediately and treated him with such care and urgency. Sadly, our beloved dog passed away that afternoon. I'm devastated to be writing this review, but I truly believe he might have had a fighting chance if he had been seen when we first arrived. No pet or pet parent should be treated this way in their moment of crisis.
