They got us in right away; we had so many tests that had to be run and they made sure our older boy was seen immediately. He wound up having a spot on his lung that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. The other vet didn't even listen to his heart. Our other dog had to have a mass removed from his leg and the first place we went said they would have to completely sedate him. Not Dr. Davis! They were able to remove it easily. It turned out to be cancerous, so we got X-rays and ultrasounds scheduled right away, just in case. Their ultrasound technician only comes on Thursdays, so you may have to wait a week to see them. Their pricing is reasonable and Dr. Davis always makes sure to speak with you at every visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I wish we lived here full time so we could always go to him!

I recently filled out the online questionnaire for a puppy adoption and received a prompt message that all was fine with my application and that all required was a call from them to my veterinarian. Two days later contacted ARF to get an update. The cold reply from ARF is that they gave the puppy away already. Never a courtesy call back or message to share the news that my application had been tossed because someone showed up while ARF awaiting callback from my Vet. Happy the puppy found a home. Very disappointing client relations with ARF. People who fill out all those questions on the application are already emotionally vested. Terrible community relations. Maybe ARF should get the veterinary part of the interview process done first so this kind of BS doesn't reoccur.

No family should have to experience the loss of a pet while also feeling unsupported by the very people who are supposed to provide comfort and care. The lack of sensitivity and professionalism during such a heartbreaking moment only added to their grief.I understand that veterinary medicine can be stressful and emotionally demanding, but kindness and compassion should never be overlooked. Pets are family, and their owners deserve to be treated with respect during one of the worst days of their lives. Based on what my friend experienced, I would encourage others to carefully consider where they choose to bring their pets. I contacted Dr. Alward about possibly visiting us while we were out visiting family on Long Island…read more-- sadly, to euthanize our dog, Layla, who has terminal bone cancer and had experienced an especially rough night. She immediately calmed me down BY TEXT (crappy reception out here on the island), talking me calmly through the options (such as amputation). We ended up going to the city to my favorite animal hospital for a surgery consult, got stronger pain meds from the hospital, and now that Layla is comfortable again, we are taking a few days to really consider what the right thing for my dog will be. Dr. Alward continues to support and advise me (I'm peppering her with questions about immunotherapy, just in case there's a trial out there). These are the kinds of vets -- true dog-people as well as people-people -- that we need more of. Thank you Dr. Alward. Your immediate availability, quick thinking, generosity of time and spirit, and obvious empathy were decisive in turning a dark, panic-induced "final day" in my mind, into a week of calm consideration -- seeing a surgeon & oncologist, emailing with immunotherapists, and getting to see my dog, who is now on adjusted pain meds, enjoy another romp on the beach, just this morning, which I literally didn't think I would ever see again. To our luck, the groomer, Ben, was able to squeeze us in the same day, and they even gave her a quick trim! He was very attentive during the consult, and she came out so cute. We knew that our pet was in good hands when he'd explained to us that they don't perform anything that our pet is uncomfortable with or doesn't like! But when they handed me the $1000 plus "estimate" I felt trapped as I had been there for two hours, my dog was suffering and just wanted to go home. When I checked with my friend, she had been charged $250 including x-rays. The vet followed up the next day, but they never followed up with the expensive lab test results. I had to call them. I also asked to speak to management about the cost. Someone called me back about the lab results hours later at dinner time so I missed the call. Nobody for management called me back about the cost. When I tried to call again I was put on hold for 10 minutes and hung up. Hamptons pricing or not, my human ENT charges less. I wasn't going to review them and did give them an opportunity to respond, but I just felt taken advantage of.
