took my car in for annual inspection - no problem with setting an appointment. Was told I needed new windshield wipers so I told them to put new ones on. Big mistake!!! It was only when I got home that i checked the receipt. I was charged $13.26 and also charged $12.50 for labor?????? come on - attaching windshield wipers? Totally unacceptable. read more

After moving to Maine from MA I had to find a lot of new places to go for things. Service for my vehicle was first on the list. Village Motors is located a mile down the street from me so I thought (and hoped) they'd be my new Go To for my vehicle(s). I LUCKED OUT! They're all friendly and knowledgable. They have never let me down from cars to motorcycles they've helped me out. They do not work on motorcycles but have helped me with an oil change and do inspections for both (bikes/autos). They expanded their service and truck bays, they do THAT much in service. Their vehicles are always priced accordingly (from what I see when looking) and have plenty to choose from. read more

I came here with my mom looking for my first car. Traveled 1 hour to get here because we are from MA. We called several times and spoke with various people, one person who sounded like a typical skeevy car dealership guy, and another who ended up being the salesman we worked with and loved--Larry. I had my heart set on this subaru with high mileage, and my mom was skeptical because of the price. The car was worth $4000 more than what the listing price was (worth found on KBB and NADA), so she was also worried that there was something wrong with it. It turned out that the price dropped so much because it had been on the lot for a while, probably not sold because of the economy. Larry was exceptional and very honest with us. He told us the in's and out's of their inventory and all of the info on that specific car. We ended up test driving and checking out a few other cars to compare, which were all in great shape and competatively priced. He was very trustworthy and I felt like I wasn't getting "jipped" like every other car dealership that we had visited. We ended up getting the original car that I wanted, and I am very happy with it!!! I had the car checked out at a subaru dealership here in MA and they were impressed with the condition that it was in for the amount of miles that were on the car (112k), taken well care of. Finally we found a top notch auto repair shop we can trust and have been extremely happy with. Manager Phil is great to work with and explains exactly what the issue is and whether or not something needs replacing, which, in our case, it often did not. His mechanic Brian is also a very nice guy and of course, the office manager Kelly is a real pleasure to do business with. All these people are upbeat and very friendly, and the most competent auto repair folks we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. If we ever need another used car, we would certainly purchase if from their sales department knowing the cars have been thoroughly gone through and are in excellent condition. I knew they had an 2013 Explorer that I found online. I only quickly looked at it online and was going to bypass the dealership because I thought it might be one of those fly by night "small" dealerships that would put all kinds of pressure and be dishonest. After a poor experience at a large Ford dealership in Hampton, we were heading to another large dealership in Dover. I figured, So. Berwick is on the way up so I'd swing by to take a "quick look" at the vehicle with no intention of really buying from them. Well, the sales person Larry, was absolutely fabulous. He let me take it for a ride to try it out. He answered my questions. No pressure. The prices were already discounted. The vehicle was immaculate and the dealership lot, building, and office are immaculately clean as well. Historically, when I buy a vehicle I second guess whether I got a bad deal. I had absolutely NO regrets or second guessing after dealing with him. They gave me a fair trade-in price for my very high mileage 10 year old Explorer. There are no doc fees or any other fees. You pay for the car and that is IT. I wish I lived closer to South Berwick because I would certainly give their service shop a try as well. Very impressed with this "small" dealership. No high pressure sales, they let me test drive several vehicles and when I said I needed to go home to think about it and talk with my fiance, they didn't try to pressure me to buy. They arranged the financing for me, through People's United Bank, and took care of paying off my trade-in. I was very impressed with the service and how honest they are-apparently they work on salary, not commission, which is why they are so laid back. read more

My car (a 2001 CR-V) has always gone to Village even with it's previous owner and they always handle it as if it was a Ferrari. Exceptional work finding and fixing a radiator leak and the driver's side door which would not open from the inside. A little more expensive than other places around here but totally worth it. Purchased a vehicle from Village Motors in February 2011. Price was right and the vehicle drove good. 2 days after my purchase the check engine light came on indicating something was wrong with the exhaust. After seeking mechanical advice, the exhaust system was completely jacked and failed all emmisions despit having a brand new 'sticker'. It was apparent they just slapped a sticker on it and threw it on the lot. Additionally there was a massive oil leak from the oil pan and rear main seal that would have been noticed if their OWN mechanics had even looked under the vehicle. No mechanical defects were listed on the Seller Agreement...of course. There is no way they could have missed it!!! Well $1,000+ dollars later I now understand why I got a good price, because this vehicle is a piece of crap. Salesman was a bit of a creep. Be aware of this place!!!! read more

I signed a credit app because I had told them to only pull my credit report once, and dont do it unless you are confident you can do this deal. They submitted it to 2 different banks and got turned down because they were trying to finance too much over retail. Exactly what I asked them not to do, but they didnt care how damaging that was. So now my credit score was hurt for nothing. Thats pretty poor. read more
