Only gave one star because wasn't an option to give zero. Mechanic had my car 5 weeks leaving us without car for work. Charged $4400.00 for used transmission. Mechanic clearly saw we have small children and was still dishonest and unethical. Car did not have steering issue when brought to him. Finally got car back one week before Christmas and power steering does not work properly or efficiently. Mechanic had car five weeks, charged us $4400.00 and we still dont have properly running car. read more

We heard about Royalty Automotive through the Coffee News weekly. We have a Volvo and they are the local Volvo experts so we hired them for the first job. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a breath of fresh air. They are on time in what they do and they do it well. We've hired them on a few occasions now and we are very satisfied. They've given us a loaner vehicle every time and gone above and beyond to make our schedule with 2 young kids in school work for us not them. They even helped us swap car seats!! Not expected but delightful to see. Our car went in for service just before New Years. He finished it just before they closed for the holiday weekend. He even offered to leave the keys so we could have our car for the holiday and to come back later to pay the bill. First shop to ever care as much as these folks do. I trust Royalty with all my vehicles! They always come back cleaner than when I left them, the work is great and I know I'm not getting taken for a ride! When I have a big job that needs to be done I am always able to borrow a loner car (as long as one is available!) until mine is finished. I drive a lot and can't be without a vehicle! I was really impressed with these guys. They have a Volvo focus so I brought mine in to them for service, and possible repair for a check engine light, and a plug for my tire that got a screw in it (everything seems to hit at once). They hooked me up with a loaner car at no extra cost other than filling up the gas I used so I didn't have to spend all day waiting. Their prices were reasonable. They didn't gouge me on work hours charged. The really nice thing was that after taking a look over the car (check engine light had come on and it needed routine service) they brought me back to the service bay and explained exactly what they thought was wrong that caused the check engine light to come on and what else they thought needed to be done and why. The vacuum pump was leaking which was causing the engine light error. Instead of pushing for me to get more service than I needed they gave a pretty no nonsense assessment of what needed to be done now and what could wait. They even remounted the repaired tire, put the toolkit and spare tire back in the tire well, and didn't bill for that. I was fully expecting to just do that myself once they repaired the tire. I definitely plan on coming back to them when I need to get my brake pads replaced (the next maintenance on the schedule) and for my next regular service. 3 months ago I was buying a used high mileage Volvo and at the recommendation of a coworker, took it to Royalty to have them give it a look over before I committed to buying it. I was fully prepared to pay for them to look it over. Upon arrival they promptly got the car on a lift and gave it a thorough evaluation. They provided me a detailed list of needed maintenance and the associated cost. The best part is they didn't even charge me to look the car over. I ended up buying the car and have taken it to them for a timing belt, wheel bearings and will be getting the brakes done in the very near future. They are fairly priced and straight forward with advising on service. Every time I've brought my car in I've been provided a loaner, free of charge. I've always been scheduled quickly and gotten my car back within a day. Since going to Royalty I've had the opportunity to get to know the owner Mark. He is a like minded Conservative Patriot and it's not uncommon to get sidetracked talking about common interests. It's nice to see that there are still businesses that are courteous, professional, personable and on point. I'd much rather support a small locally owned business than any dealership or commercially run service garages. Royalty Auto is what right looks like! read more

So my '95 Volvo 940 is making quit a noise, often after starting. I brought it over to Royalty Automotive and told them I thought that the noise was the starter gear not returning and asked how much to replace it. The guy said, "let's get it in and have a look". 20 minutes later I get my car back, no rattling and the oil was changed (it was overdue). "We changed your oil and the noise was just a loose heat shield on the exhaust, we took care of it." Wow, I expected to pay $400 plus for the repair, and they fixed me up and only charged me for the much needed oil change.... That's why I bring my car there. Decided to give them a shot again on an older high mileage Volvo - first set of repairs, decent job, Dennis the tech stepped up on a small detail; quite pleased. Second, more expensive repair, some communication and timing "issues" but once completed, again, decent job. Third recent repair, went from $400 to over 1k, including $150 for something the owner Marc decided "I should pay for." Ummmmm. No. Never again. For that kind of money for this repair, I could have gone to the dealership, saved about $200, and gotten a lifetime warranty on the part. I joined Yelp, something I didn't want to do, just so you don't make the same expensive mistake I did. You have other options. Although I feel for Dennis, who seems to be the guy doing most of the work there. they will never see another dime from me. Edited to reply to Mark's comment below, which will be taken down in a couple of days. Besides posting my name in his reply, which seems to be against Yelp policy and a great thing to show your fantastic customer service, does he sound like the kind of person you want to do business with? Never spoke to Mark (Mark was never around when I was there) only dealt with his staff, who, by the way, specifically recommended the used one. "If it were my car, I would go with a used one." Why doesn't he ask his tech? Instead, it looks like he spends more time online and in other pursuits as opposed to actually working. No one ever told me I would be responsible for a part or labor for a part that might not work in my car. I've only had cars for 38 years, so I guess I'm new at this whole repair thing - I naively assumed that if a shop ordered a part and it didn't work or fit, I wouldn't pay for it. - totally my bad. (and no, no one told me I would "gamble" with the part) So yes, I heartily recommend Mark and Royalty for your Volvo; 2 for 1 is always a good deal; pay twice for one job. Edited again because his unhinged ranting continues. Seriously. Does Mark sound like the kind of guy you want fixing your car? Look at the language he uses about a customer. And next, he'll probably post my credit card information. Bottom line is this - I never talked with or to Mark, and by the way he presents himself here (he's not stand up enough to actually call me after his business messed up), I'm glad I didn't have to deal with his sparkling personality. I was told one thing, made the very silly assumption that if the part they ordered didn't work, I wouldn't have to pay - totally my bad. Oh, and as for the loaner, it has 420K miles on it (good for Volvo), AC doesn't work, shakes over 45mph. I can get a loaner for free at the dealership, and a correct new alternator installed with lifetime warranty, for $200 less. I totally agree with Mark - I pay for the labor for parts they order that might not work. Silly me. Lesson learned. Edited again. And again with the comments. What a sad, sad, small man. Do you really want this unhinged liar anywhere near your new or not so new investment? Not me. Lesson learned. Mark is too scared to call, so he hides here online and behind his staff. As for the gas in the loaner, Vanessa got the receipts, but that's cool because I also have the credit card receipts for the gas which I will post when I get the receipts online. Oh, and I also learned from renting cars to always take pictures of gas in the car. When I got the car, it wasn't full, but when I returned it, it was. I guess Mark just likes to make his own "fake news," and hope you'll fall for his garbage.. I'll post the images when I get home of how much gas was in his "loaner" when I returned it. I have the image of when I got it here, so you can decide just how much B.S. you want to take from Mark. I'll also post the bill for the $1060 alternator. Best to avoid this sad little man and his business. FYI, just posted bill from previous repair that shows the amount of the previous repair, and, wait for it, the gas I paid to fill up the loaner. My guess is that Mark is too chickensh!t and will edit out his comments claiming all sorts of crap about my not filling the loaner and such. As you can see from the amount of the previous repair, this is how he treats a newish customer who has spent over 3K in the last month and a half. Way to keep customers, there, Marky boy. Lie through your teeth and then run and hide - won't answer the phone, come up with phony sob stories about "needing gas for his loaner" which is total BS. I wouldn't put it past him to lie about his dad too - no idea why he would throw that in there, except if you're still reading, well, I guess for some misplaced BS sympathy. At least when I tell people my mom died of cancer 18 years ago, they can look at her obit and see I'm not lying. And yet, here is lyin' Mark, making claims that the receipts show he's lying is butt off. My guess is he'll go and edit his comments again, but at least I've saved screen shots. Hey Mark, i cant reply to your bs comment so heres this. Honesty is telling me theres 2 pumps and trying to get me to pay to replace both, when theres only one. Id love to see you post the invoice you have on here, and ill post mine. Honesty is actually doing the work you said you did. You charged me for a fuel pump job, new pump, and replacement install. If i could post pics of the "new" pump that has 10k miles on it that i just pulled out of the rear (car sat for 8 month in my yard, pumps under the seat, so dont blame it on sitting), with black soot and dirt all over it, not to mention it took 45 mins to break the seal to get it out. Youd be crying. You fucked me good. I have the pump, i now understand how it works having actually seen one of your old mechanics do the job for me. Ill find another website and post all the pics of the "new" pump you installed and fucked up things you did to me and charged me for. Like my radiator fan that wouldnt shut off, that you fixed and charged me for that still wouldnt stop running until Anthony fix it for me. You seemed like a really legit guy until i found out how you operate. Once i post the pics to another site that allows that ill come back on here to post the links to it ;-) so the entire world can see who the honest one is. I have nothing but great things to say about this place!! I got myself stuck in a situation where I bought a car off of Facebook market place. I brought it into Royalty Automotive to get checked out because the steering was messed up and making a horrible noise. They put it up on the lift and showed me the list of things wrong with this car... Along with a rotted frame. To say the least this vehicle was not safe for my children and I. Mark, the owner took me aside, as I was very upset. He said he was more than willing to get me into a safe car for my children and I. This car is not only safe and comes with all the bells and whistles, but it is extremely reliable! Mark seemed to really care about my situation and what my needs were. Very compassionate man! At 65 I have had a lot of cars, most new and several used. I have experienced service at lots of dealerships. Very few will go the extra mile for you. Mark and the mechanics at Royalty will. Mark runs an honest shop and everyone in the service area are real professionals. I recently had a VERY bad experience at a dealership just south of the Portsmouth traffic circle that sells Buicks and Cadillac's, they were very dishonest and put the dollar ahead of the person. They sold me a car that should not have been given a NHDMV Certificate of Safety. And that was qualified by the DMV ... stay Away from them!!! Royalty (Mark) advised me through my issue, even called the DMV and also talked to the NHADA on my behalf. The dealership found themselves against a wall and refunded the full cost. My success was to a great part due to Mark extending me a loaner and stepping up to the plate for me. Thank you Mark!! Going to Royalty restored my faith in people. Thanks everyone at Royalty They are a five star service business and sell good used Volvos. -Note- after Mark put so much time and effort to help me recovered the full cost of the car, I asked him if he would go into the market and get me a good used Volvo. I told him my budget and that I'd like an XC70. He did just that. The mechanics went through it, replaced parts detailed it and I drove away in a (very safe!!) Volvo XC70 in remarkable shape.
