Visited for the first time to get a gel manicure. The manicurist was very good and really took her time with my nails (but not to the point where I felt like I would never get out of there, like some other salons I've been to). Everyone I spoke with was nice, and the nail areas were very clean. They have a loyalty program, which is nice. I would definitely return. Taking off one star because my nails dried weird - the gel topcoat bubbled and came out textured. Probably not their fault, but frustrating - it seemed like a flaw with the product. read more

Two fingernails came off after 5 days on my VERY expensive powder dip pedi...I went back and they redid those nails- I tipped, of course, again, and thanked them for making it right. 24 hours later, 3 more nails came completely off! I usually do my own pampering at home, but I'm really glad I gave Village Nail & Spa a shot - their salon was as clean as can be, which is important for germaphobe like me, lol. This was the second time I've ever gotten a professional mani/pedi because they're expensive, and I'm a control freak who likes doing them myself at home. They did an outstanding job though. I ended up getting a gel mani/pedi, and it was super luxurious. I actually wish I lived closer because I'd totally go back again. I've been coming here for a few years and always get a great gel fill from Sue and Michelle. I prefer gel color OVER a gel set and they always last several weeks. Pedicures are also very nice, and each technician does a great job in my experience. Everyone there is very sweet and it seems like the owners treat their employees kindly as many of the team members have been there a long time. This is gorgeous new salon in the Mahwah area. The salon is SO clean, which is sometimes hard to find. Cleanliness is big for me because I have heard to many horror stores about unsanitary salons. They facility is beautiful and they really take care of it. In addition, they offer all your typical nail salon services from basic manicures to gel manicures. The best part (for me) is it is in walking distance of my home, so I love them even more for the convenience factor. I always walk in and never have to wait more than 10 minutes. read more

Great addition to this area,. especially for us that live or work here. It's a big space and definitely very clean. I normally go after work and there's always people ready to help, I've never had to wait. The quality of the gel manicure is great, it lasts me a full 2 weeks. I've also gotten waxes here, and they are great as well. The reason I'm docking points is, although everyone is very nice, they are really pushy with the services. To the point where it's a little insulting: for example they asked if I wanted a brow wax because "my brows really needed it!" (even though I had recently gotten one from them). Also I came in with broken nails, and the lady offered to fix it for me! She didn't mention until she started applying the fix that it was a $5 charge. And then, not until I got up to the register that I was $5/ finger. So quality is great, but I could do without the upcharge for everything. read more

Then she had the nerve to charge me full price after 3 days later after it was her fault for putting on longer heavier and more curved lashes which is why it fell off. This is the most manipulative nail salon in New Jersey. I went in for a full set of tips, a pedicure, and an eyebrow waxing. While in the waxing room I was convinced to get my lip done as well. I willingly agreed given how extremely excited I was as everything finally started to reopen following COVID. When my services were finished, I went up to the front to pay. THEY CHARGED ME $186 for a set of tips, a pedicure, and eyebrow/lip waxing. I immediately asked for a full breakdown of where the pricing was coming from. THE NAILS WERE $130 ON THEIR OWN. NOT ONCE DID THEY INFORM ME OF THIS PRICE. I was expecting either acrylic or dip power nails. Every nail salon I have ever been to has told me what they were going to do AFTER ASKING ME IF IT WAS OK AND INFORMING ME OF THE PRICE. I would never willingly get nails that were $130. (By the way, there is no notice of pricing anywhere in the salon). In fact, one of the employee's told me this was discounted as they were ACTUALLY INCREASING PRICES GIVEN THE TIME. Nonetheless, I didn't want to cause a scene. I paid the money and left. It doesn't end here... Three days after getting the nails. THEY LIFTED and are actually FALLING OFF. THREE DAYS! I called Village Nail Salon. I explained the situation. I stated I did not want my money back for the pedicure or the waxing, however I did want my money back for the nails. I offered to send them pictures, facetime for proof, email, etc. I was told by an employee that was not possible and she had to talk to her boss and would call me back. When I got a call back I again explained the situation. He offered to fix the nails... that lifted in three days. I stated I was not in the area and would rather my money back just for the nails. Again, I did not request the money for the pedicure or the waxing. He stated it was his policy not to give money back and there was nothing he could do. Not only did they rip me off by giving me nails I did not ask for and did not telling me the price, they did an awful job and wont give me my money back. Took all 3 daughters here for gel manicures. First time here. It was busy-the day before Christmas Eve. But they managed to squeeze us in, which was obviously a big mistake on my part. Got back from spending entire lunch hour plus to inspect with eyeglasses on... to find a sloppy and streaky polish job, cuticles barely touched, huge gaps between cuticles and polish. These thieves nickle and dime you for every service that the technician announces she is performing but fails to tell you that each service is being added to your bill! Did not have a great experience at village nail & spa in Mahwah. I went to get a gel manicure and the woman was extremely rough- rushing so much while she was cutting my cuticles that it was uncomfortable. At one point I even pulled back my hand based on the force she was giving. The manicure came out ok but once I was home I quickly noticed two of my fingers were irritated which has never happened to me before. I went to my physician the next day because one of my cuticles was so red and swollen and I didn't want to take a chance with infections. She gave me antiobiotics for my infected cuticle and it went down in a couple of days. I will not be going back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would for my pedicure I had here. I was literally in and out in 15 minutes not bad for 30 bucks right? They couldn't get me out fast enough! I get my nails done once in a blue moon, and I like to come here because it is so nearby. The space is clean and attractive. The staff are quiet and polite, and they give nice, relaxing manicures and pedicures. My only grievance is the occasional frankness of some of the staff, one of whom insisted I needed their waxing services. Other than that, the staff is usually flattering. First time I had a really nice experience, but each time I went back I was more disappointed than before. They rush you and make you feel like they are talking about you in their native language (which isn't only infuriating but uncomfortable). The last two times I went, the color changed with these weird streaks after only a few days (gel manicure). The final straw was a gel manicure that chipped the very next day. They were nice enough to fix it free of charge, but not without the lecture of how it's my own fault it chipped. I had there the worst experience since I am in the US. First of all, the lady did not pushed my cuticle back very well, so now I have my nails polished with terrible cuticles. Then I felt deeply embarrassed because it was my first time in a nail salon in the US, so before I had my nails polished I paid my total of 75$ by card. When I was leaving, I said thank you and goodbye and a lady shouted DO YOU NEED CHANGE? Everyone was looking at me, clients, employees and I stoped at the door shocked. She told me about the gratuity, I apologized and went back in to give her in cash the tip that I honestly did not know that was common for this service as well. I was giving 10$ and she said usually people would give at least 13$. I said I wanted to give 10$ and I left with everyone looking at me and I was feeling completely humiliated, not because of the tip, but the way she asked for it.
