Village Peddler is an honest to goodness small business that primarily rents bicycles. But the also are stellar bicycle mechanics. The owner Gabe tune-up my Cannondale road bike and ultimately got it shifting as smooth as silk. It took a bit longer than anticipated; so he actually delivered it to my home! While I don't have the need to rent a bike; I hear they provide great support if needed. Juan is also great too. Nice to see someone who loves what they do! read more

I called to get a price to replace a 29 inch tube for my pedal bike. Inwas.quoted $35 to replace the tube and that didn't include the price of the tube. What a rip off. Inwent and bought a tube for $7 and replaced it myself. This place is way over priced. read more

The Very Best!! I called and spoke with Gabe about an issue I have with a tire that won't seat. I was going to take it to him, but unfortunately he was booked out about a couple of weeks. The good shops are always busy, but he was kind enough to recommend to me what could be the problem and also told me where I could buy the parts locally for my bike. Who does that? It was like I was having a Miracle On 54th Street moment, where Santa was recommending shoppers to other stores. A great bike shop within walking distance of La Quinta's cute downtown. The owner was incredibly friendly and provided wonderful service from once we walked in to the end of the trip. He even has the ability to come out and fix the bikes on the trail if you puncture a tire. All of the bikes we were shown looked new and in good shape. We will definitely be back! read more

Gabriel was great! Super friendly and helpful. He provided us a map and gave us suggestions as to where to ride and even a recommendation for a lunch stop. We misjudged how long it would take us to get back and ended up being a little late but Gabriel was nice about it and didn't charge us extra (although we gave him a tip in appreciation). While we were waiting for our bikes to be brought out I also overheard Gabriel speaking with another customer about repairs on her bike and he was super honest with her about repairs that did and didn't need to be done. I have been looking for a local bike shop and I have found it, Gabe and his Shop! As soon as you walk in, your greeted with a big friendly smile and someone ready and willing to help. The first time I stopped by, I just needed a mini tune up for the Tour De Palm Springs, thanks to his work I was able to ride 28 miles in a hour and half! I rented 3 bikes for a festival and the village peddler experience was absolutely seamless! We travelled to Palm Desert a few years in a row for our daughter's lacrosse tournament at the Empire Polo Club. We noticed people getting around the huge place on bikes the first year and asked around, determined to rent them ourselves the next year. We did - from Old Town Peddler - and they were great!! The staff went above and beyond to communicate and connect with us to both get the bikes and return them from the fields. They also provided locks (& helmets) - everything we needed! Fantastic experience! Warm and friendly staff, eager to bust out a map and show you the best places to ride around La Quinta. They provide excellent, well maintained bikes + helmets + bike locks + complimentary little draw sting backpacks to carry your stuff! They even give you free bottled water.
