Worst service ever. My bike got new tires and service 1 month ago. $350 dollars later. The derailers needed adjusting and I rode to the shop and the tech couldn't find my bike in their computer. He said they don't do walk in adjustments. He questioned my integrity that my bike was not here for service. He said that my chain was worn out and it never would have left the shop looking like that if I got a service there. Now I wonder what I paid for when they performed a "tune up". Worst experience ever. They wanted to put a new chain on but by then I was too frustrated and just wanted my bike back. I will not spend another penny there. ESPECIALLY FOR ANY SERVICE. When Dave (old owner) owned the shop I was a regular. There are many other choices in the desert for sales and service. I will never be back or recommend Tri-A-Bike. read more

Bought two Electric Bikes & had issues with them , brought them back for repairs & manager had a "shoot the messenger" attitude about the issues. Had an accident & mfr told us to take back to to Tri-a-bike for repair. Manager was very combative at first without knowing all the facts & blamed us for not maintaining bikes. I came into town for a race and should have been better prepared with my bike setup to assemble it myself. While I'm no expert and didn't want to ruin anything I called the shop a week or so before landing to make an appointment for my bike. (highly advise you to make an appointment, don't just show up) They charged what I'm assuming is a standard rate down here but caught me off guard, oh well, I pay for their mechanics knowledge though and they've got it. Dropped my bike off after the race to be put back in the case along with multiple others who did the same race. Tri-A-Bike to the rescue! I was on vacation in Palm Desert last week. I brought my beach cruiser to get some extra, easy miles for the times when I wanted to explore but the heat was too much for me to run in. The morning I decided to jump on Blu (my cruiser), flat tire. The poor thing wasn't keeping air in even after I pumped it and I can hear the loud hiss of a leak. I was quite annoyed, not just by the flat, but also that the weekend before I left for vacation I has replaced the back tire inner tube and there seemed to be no problem with the front. (squints eyes in suspicion) I debated whether to waste my time getting the tire fixed locally since I wasn't familiar with the location and feared there being a couple day wait on repairs. The first shop I went to only did services by appointment only. This required sending an email. I wasn't going to waste my time because who knows how long that response would take. I found Tri-A-Bike via Yelp search and decided to take a chance. Worse case scenario: if the wait will be too long, then I will take my bike for repairs once I get back home. Clay greeted me upon entry and asked what I was looking for. Once I explained was the reason for the visit, Clay informed me that there are quite a few other repairs ahead of me but that my bike should be ready the next day. I never knew the fork on my front wheel was backwards until Clay pointed it out and offered to fix it. I honestly never knew it was called a fork lol. I left my bike comfortable with Clay's service and knowing that I'd only have to wait one day and went back to the house. To my surprise, about two hours after I left the shop, I got a call from Clay indicating that my bike was done and ready for pickup. I was more than thrilled. Jumped in car and went to retrieve Blu before the shop closed at 5pm. The price was slightly higher than I had paid at my local bike shop ($10 additional for labor here) but I was satisfied with the quick turn around, the friendly service from Clay, and the relief knowing that I hadn't brought my cruiser along on this vacation just to weigh down my car. Thank you Tri-A-Bike! ***Very clean. The shop offers a lot of products, tools, and services but the spacing and configuration is well laid out. I felt like there was enough room to move around, keep out of someone's way, and properly social distance. read more

I'm a disabled veteran who used to love riding bikes. Since my disability got worse, I am not able to ride a normal bike anymore. I searched Southern California for a bike shop that carried trikes that would allow me to ride again and found Tri-A-Bike. I called them a few times before I visited the store and they shared lots of helpful information. Once I was able to make it to the store, I spent a couple of hours with the team at Tri-A-Bike and they were super helpful and very knowledgeable. They had me try various trikes and let my wife try out some regular electric bikes. They were attentive and very patient with us, and they were clearly trying to make sure the bikes we decided on were the best fit for our needs. We ended up buying a special trike for me that Tri-A-Bike outfitted with special pedals that held my feet in place. My wife bought an electric bike as well. I have worked with a lot of bike shops over the years and Tri-A-Bike is top notch! I highly recommend this bike shop! read more

Extremely disappointed in the service I received. I recently got an electric bike and had to take it in to get my brake pads replaced since these bikes go fast and stopping on them frequently deteriorates the pads. The technician in charge of my bike today received my bike at 12:00 and told me I'd get a call when they finished. By 5:00 I show up at the shop and the technician is gone and my bike is in the back untouched, brake pads still messed up. I was told it'd be done today and sure enough it hadn't been touched, he's gone and I received no phone call. As this bike is my means for getting to and from work I would have expected a phone call at the very least saying we didn't get to it today, stop by and grab it or we can hang unto it and get to it tomorrow but no not even as much as a phone call seemed important enough to make. Luckily I walked back in and grabbed the bike before they closed but the professionalism displayed was horrendous and they should do better. Never going back here again, the few times I have stopped in they always seem nonchalant about business stopping in which blows my mind as a business local to the valley. I would highly recommend going someplace else, that actually prioritizes the business they receive. Tri-A-Bike... do better! read more

I rented a Cannondale SuperSix EVO while I was in town for Spring Break. They adjusted the seat, provided me with all of the tools I would need and were very courteous both at pick-up and drop-off. I like the bike so much they agreed to sell it to me. Since I was on Spring Break, I didn't have the means to transort it home and shipping it seemed like a risk. Harry kindly offered to drive the bike 8 hours north to where I live for no extra charge. What service! Thank you very much and I look forward to visiting when I am in town again next. read more

I was visiting Palm Desert for work and brought my bike. On my first ride in the Valley, I noticed my bike needed an odd part or I was out of action. I called around and was told it was something that needed to be ordered. Knowing many shops have items in their takeoff parts bin, I started dropping in at various shops in the area. Nobody had what I needed. Until I got to Tri-a-Bike. I walked in and explained what I was looking for. The mechanic looked up and said, "you called here earlier, didn't you?" Yep. He then said, you know what, I might have what you need... and they did. And then they installed it. Without asking, he also replaced a stripped out crank arm cinch bolt. And then refused payment. That's a lot of "and"s for no charge. While not a mountain bike specialty shop, they know how to work on them. The level of customer service I experienced was quite high. I ordered my Cannondale gravel bike from them. My bike was packed well and arrived at my home completely intact. It took my about 2 hours to assemble it and soon, I was shredding my local trails. This bike and I have raced in the Bonelli triathlons, Ironman triathlon in Whistler Canada, the Belgian Waffle Ride, and multiple crit rides. I love my gravel bike. If I could give Tri-A-Bike 10 stars I would! My wife and I recently moved into "retired" status and have been looking to getting back into cycling to enjoy the marvelous outdoors of the Coachella Valley. Unfortunately, some recent lower back issues for both of us kind of complicated our search as to best options for us. We visited a few local bike shops. Good stores, good people, highly knowledgeable but kind of a standard pattern - a little too much intimidating technical jargon and then guiding us to some very expensive priced 2-wheel options - that we just weren't sure we could remaster. Then we met Raul at Tri-A-Bike. Genuine, knowledgeable, understanding, patient . . . he listened to our goal of getting restarted into cycling but was also empathetic to our current physical considerations. Raul then introduced us to recumbent trikes. Walked us through all the important things to know, answered ALL of our questions (and questions and questions . . . LOL!). Encouraged us to try a few models in the showroom - various brands, styles and price points. BAM! We were hooked. We wound up buying 2 Catrikes (an Expedition for me; a Villager for my wife) AND had both trikes electrified. SO MUCH FUN! SO EASY TO RIDE! SO, SO COMFORTABLE! These new trikes were PERFECT. We want to give a huge shout out to Raul. He was SO helpful and genuine in his desire to help us find a workable, comfortable solution. We look forward to working with Raul long into the future. What an asset! Also, a shout out for Rick. He was diligent in working with Raul assembling our trikes and making sure that ALL adjustments were made to make sure we were truly fitted correctly and comfortably to these trikes. This review of 2/5 stars is only in reference to a flat repair by Tri-A-Bike. I use Tannus Armour foam inserts in my tires where Tannus recommends a specific inner tube size to be used. Tri-A-Bike assured me they were very familiar with Tannus Armour products. I experienced another flat soon after the repair. A different bike shop carefully inspected how the Tri-A-Bike repair was performed. Two problems were evident, the wrong inner tube size was used (per Tannus) and the foam was installed next to the inner tube rather than around it (see photos), to protect it from punctures. The new puncture is in a location where the Tannus foam was not properly in place. I spoke with a Tri-A-Bike manager to provide feedback. He disagreed with my findings and hung-up on me. My intention was to make Tri-A-Bike aware of my experience so they could review their procedures for future customers with Tannus Armour foam inserts. My bike was there from December 19 - January 15. The work was not done. I was called on 12/20/24 and was told what it needed and they hoped it would be ready on 12/24/24. I called them on 12/28 and they said they had not yet received the part from Nevada. I called them again on 1/2/25 and they said they had not yet received the part. I asked Don if he could track the part. He said, "No, I can't do that now." I asked when he could do it. He said he couldn't find the email. I told him again that if I had ordered the part, I would track it to see when it would arrive. He did and called me back and said it was being sent from the east coat on 1/8/25. He said they got the wrong part from Nevada. They never called me to tell me of this delay. When I called them on 1/15/25, Don told me it was being sent on 1/20 and he claims he told me this on 1/8. Because I was involved with travel on that date, I knew that was not the case. I checked my phone and there was no phone calls to or from tri-a-bike on 1/8. He was actually yelling at me telling me that I was wrong. He was obviously wrong. He told me to come get my bike which had not been repaired. I had been going there for over three decades, and purchased two bikes there. Much of that was with the previous owner, but never have I been spoken to so disrespectfully. That had been my go-to place. I understand delays, but they did nothing to keep me apprised of what was happening. I lost valuable training time. read more

TLDR; I do NOT recommend Tri-A-Bike. They rented me a mountain bike that they didn't have, wasted my time, and then acted like it was my fault. Reserved a Cannondale mountain bike for a week on the Tri-A-Bike website a week in advance. Drove 30 minutes one way to pick it up (hour round trip). Had to wait outside for 15 minutes (due to COVID) while they prepared the bike-finally the guy wheels out a road bike. I didn't rent a road bike. Turns out they are completely out of mountain bikes.. Confused as hell, I drive 30 minutes home and look at their website. I wasn't crazy-they DO have a Cannondale mountain bike listed on their site. So I called, just to inform them and ask that they update their site so they don't waste anyone else's time like they had wasted mine. The woman gets rude with me and says that, even though the listing was for a mountain bike, and there are separate listings for road bikes, the SIZE I chose only pertains to road bikes, and it was my fault! WTF! (seen attached screenshot) I'm brand new to mountain biking, there's no way I could have known that. What's more, this is a horrible user experience issue with their site. They absolutely should not be listing road bike only sizes under the mountain bike listing. Even worse, blaming the issue on the customer! Horrible experience. Waste of time. Sadly, this place has recently gone downhill. It used to be a great place to rent quality, well maintained bikes, but not anymore. A recently rented bike by friend of mine was so poorly maintained that it had to be returned, and the person who seems to be in charge has a really bad attitude. When another friend declined to rent a bike because the bike they had available was too small and they couldn't provide another with a larger frame, he got a nasty lecture about why they should withhold a $30 rental reservation deposit because they had to "prep the bike for rental" even though they offered him another bike (also declined) that they just pulled out of their storage area. Look elsewhere for bike rentals! read more

After all these years, I cannot believe I still witness such a blunt and clear example of discrimination against minorities. On June 2024 I took my bike to get flat tire fixed. They install a tube in it and I went on my way. On Wednesday 9/28/24 that same tire was flat. I put some air on it, and notice the air was coming out of the air valve. I took it to Triabike and Don, the Manager was very welcoming to all other white patrons, but as soon as he saw me, I noticed his faced expression changed to a very negative one, as he he did not even want to talk to me. I am sure his unconscious bias was kicking in and he did not even noticed it himself. I said hello and try to explain the tube a purchased in June must have been defected as there were not visible punctures on the tire but a clear air hiss sound coming out of the valve. I said the product might be defected and that I was concerned and perhaps we could use a different brand. He immediately dismissed my assessment and told me "there is no defect on the tube". He immediately said, "We will replace it but we do not fix tubes here just replace them. I thought to myself "You don't even want to hear if you have a product that might be broken and you are still selling it?" I left quite sad that day at the way he made me feel, but I said to myself, Ahhh!! he is just an angry man. He is probably miserable at his job and hates it. I came back to pick up my bike two days later, took it home and set it at the garage. Two days later my wife and I decide to go for a ride and 5 minutes out, that same hissing sound is coming out of the valve getting the tire flat once again. I brought it again, and the technician, (who was very nice by the way) was extremely helpful and replaced the tube immediately. As he is bringing my bike back, he also brings the older tube and explained to me that it is a defective tube and showed me a crack on the base of the valve. The manager Don, heard the explanation and quickly rushed to me and said " What is going on?" He seemed to remember me because I noticed the same expression of hate of despise once again. the same look he gave me the week before. I kept my cool and reply that I was trying to explain to him the week before that the tube might be defective and that he should at least take a look at it before dismissing me so fast. He got quite upset with me and said. "look you have to make sure that every time you go for a ride you MUST put air on the tire (What a ridiculous statement) he continued to say, I will guaranteed it now but next time you have to pay regardless. I do not care about paying, I just want to be treated with respect and professionalism when conducting business. I said "but I took the bike for 5 minutes and it got flat" he said "it doesn't matter, you have to put air on the tire each and every time you ride it. At this point i realize i was speaking to a hateful person. I said ok, this man is just being a racist individual who hates people of color, and he does not want me at his store. Of course I will never be back. I work nearby at a very prominent hotel and I will be sure to actively speak about this man to everyone looking for a bike shop around town. This man should not be in front of customers but rather in a farm or seating behind a desk without customer contact. I am in contact with an institution that monitors places that discriminate against minorities and hopefully put a stop to this. This is California DON. read more

A few days ago I found myself in need of a new chain for my Catrike Expedition eCat recumbent trike. I called Triabike since they are the only game in town for trikes. I told the person on the phone which trike I had and asked how much to put a new chain on and how soon they could do it. He went to check and said they could do it right away because they were not busy and that it would be $70.00. I brought the trike in the next day and when I went to pay, Don told me it was $140.00. I told him what I was quoted and he told me the person essentially didn't understand exactly what I needed.  (So train your staff!!!) I said to Don that I would pay but that I didn't think it was right. No apology..no empathy.  Candidly Don and I have had issues before. I am 72 years old and have been in bike shops all over the world. I have never encountered one like this. If you care about your equipment and want quality work done by a friendly, knowledgeable and honest staff...go someplace else. read more

I am an annual visitor to Palm Desert, and wanted to try out Mountain Biking here. I rented a Giant MTB from Kate and Manny, and had an excellent experience. They were professional, responsive, helpful and knowledgeable. Manny took the time to make sure the bike fit was good and even recommended a great trail - Randall Henderson Loop Trail - which is probably the best, close-in trail to PD. I would definitely do business with Triabike again, they are a good business with fair prices and knowledgeable staff! read more

My husband had a bike assembled here and already paid for and when I went to pick it up they refused to give it to me because I wasn't my husband. I even called my husband and put him on the phone, we offered to have my husbands drivers license emailed to the manager and he still refused. The manager was on a total power trip and was one of those people who doesn't care about customers. We're reporting this to Cannondale as well so they know not to use this bike shop anymore. I have had good results with Tri a Bike mechanics. I brought my bike in to get the tires change to tubeless as I have had a horrible time with flats. The man "That ran the store" said that if my tires didn't work, then I would need to put new ones on. He walked over to the tire display and picked up a pair of tires he said would fit. When the mechanic called to tell me the tires would not work, I asked him to put the ones on that the "Man who ran the store" had showed me. After a good while, he called back to say they were 700s, not 650s and would not fit my bike. They didn't have my size and would have to order and it would take a week or more. The only option was put put new a new tube in the back tire and up the bike back together. $136 later, i walked out with 1 new tube and $115 in labor for nothing. I have not heard that they have found or ordered my tires. I found and bought what I needed and asked the "The man who runs the store" if he would put them on at his cost. He sounded incredulos at the request. It wasn't his fault he gave me the wrong info. It was more his manner than the fact he wouldn't put them on. It is kind of a bummer. The mechanics seem to be devoted to customers. This "man who runs the store" was someone I wouldn't want to deal with again.UPDATE. was looking at my charge card statement and received a large refund. Appreciate the gesture. read more
