Would not recommend, would not return. I came in to check my *brand new* electric bike. The kid who greeted me told me my brakes were possibly contaminated and started throwing out high prices at me to fix it. He didn't even check, ride, or bring the bike in. I told him it would not make sense for me to buy new parts when I can return the bike. . Then another guy came out to check but literally didn't greet me or say one word to me. I'm assuming he was the owner or manager since he was the oldest guy there. Either way made me feel extremely uncomfortable and not welcomed. . The kid left grease marks all over my seat and handle bars. Lastly, I asked the kid to at least check the tires for proper air levels and he squeezed them and said they were fine. I attached a picture of my back tire before leaving the lot. In my unprofessional opinion the tires DO NOT look fine especially with "wrinkles". This place is a joke. Unfortunate too because I live down the street but I will be going elsewhere for future mechanical fixing. It seems like you have to know someone to get proper treatment around these parts of town. I will be spreading the word on how I was treated here. I left feeling horrible. read more

Peddle yourself far away from this shop!! Both the owner and employees here are not fully transparent about the condition of a bike you are planning to buy. When you ask questions they give short, inaccurate answers. Very poor customer service and I do not recommend people spending a lot of money on something coming from a dishonest business that doesn't take pride in customer service. It's tough to find good mechanical service anywhere for bicycles it seems. Chalk it up to long hours with crazy demand and pay falling short of the automotive industry. After moving fairly far from my shop of years, where the departure of longtime, experienced mechanics made the drive less appealing, I was stuck without a go-to place for getting my bike serviced. After getting my bike knocked down on the drive side by a careless person trying to fit their bike in the same rack, my electronic SRAM Red shifting went from butter to nightmare. After endless YouTube videos and a number of new tools, I got the hanger straight, yet the shifting was still not perfect. I popped into The Village Peddler while on a ride yesterday where I pled my case, and, despite being swamped and my offer to schedule a service, the mechanics in the back took a look and were able to cure the problem in 7 minutes. I had a blasted plastic tab out of place and it was kinking the shifting. Then they refused payment, so they got some great beers from the place across the street and a donation to the beer fund. I'll go back to purchase my next bike and gear. Thank you for being so flexible and detail oriented while crazy busy. Bravo read more

Fantastic local shop. I just had them do some work on my Specialized e-bike. The work was completed perfectly. The bike was ready for pickup at the promised time. As I was loading my bike into my truck, I noticed a small item I forgot to have them do (my bad, not theirs). I "boomeranged" back into the shop and they took care of the issue on the spot. All hail the Village Peddler! Knowledgable staff, great service, competitive prices. I came in on a whim with a slew of issues on my '09 Santa Cruz Nomad. The techs in the service department gave the bike a thorough lookover and recommended I leave it with them for a few days. Initially, I was reluctant but did as they requested. When I came back a few days later, all of my issues were resolved AND the mechanic that fixed everything took the time to reroute and clean up my cables, straighten out my cockpit, and walk me through some minor preventative maintenance. I bought my first mountain bike here and it was best most exciting purchase I've ever made. I came in knowing nothing about bikes (I still don't know anything really) but I left happy and with a beautiful bike. I bought a Juliana Origins (the Santa Cruz women's line mountain bike). Full suspension with the best kit. Not only did they have everything I wanted, the bike was on sale and I saved several hundred dollars! The staff was awesome and explained what accessories I needed and didn't need, price ranges, comparisons of everything, and answered my hundreds of questions. What was awesome is that they didn't try to sell me the most expensive everything. I came in with a budget and they fit my budget with everything I needed and gave me some insight into quality vs. random expensive stuff. read more

Love the integrity of the Village Peddler people. I took my Yeti mountain bike there with problematic brakes, and they told me the brakes were defective and subject to a manufacturers recall. They said they could replace the parts under warranty and just charge for their labor. They could easily have said I needed new brakes, gotten them free from the manufacturer, charged me, and I'd be none the wiser. Nice to see their integrity. I also took a beat up beach cruiser there last year and they were as happy to work on that as my Yeti. Cool people. read more

An outstanding shop with great service. Like many, I've struggled to find a bike during the pandemic and was after a 56 Diverge. Steve at the Village Peddler went out of his way to help source the frame and components individually and created a build at a very competitive price. I'll also add that the build quality was better than what I've received from Specialized factory builds in the past. The team obviously put a lot of care and attention into the work they do, and it shows. I'll also say the service is second to none, I'm a really fussy customer and nothing was too much for Steve to deal with. I must have sent him a hundred emails and he continued to be patient and really helpful throughout. If you're thinking of a custom build or serious mods/repair work, I wouldn't have any doubts about trusting Steve and his team. I couldn't recommend enough. I also love that they never once asked for a review, which made me feel even more compelled to write one. A great bike shop! read more

I've been a customer for 10+ years. These guys are as reliable and good at their craft as they come. The shop has never let me down. Dan and Johnny know their stuff, they diagnose accurately, they suggest the least expensive, most efficacious way to fix it, the work is done when promised, and they take good care of the shop's return customers. Last week a different shop was unable to fix my road bike's brake problem, told me I'd have to wait for July to get the part, and left my bike partly disassembled, yet I had a big ride with 20 friends on Friday I'd helped organize. Johnny found time for me even though their appointments are booked 2.5 weeks out, fixed the key thing wrong (right rear brake handle not working), stayed late to get the brake pads working, etc., all in a day when his time was already fully committed before he took my bike on. read more

How should i start village peddler...... The first day i went to this shop i had to install a new fork on my bike. I asked some guy to help me and he said, "let me finish my salad first" I said Looks like im going to tam bikes. Thats not all im just getting started. I asked him to give me a toon up on my giant ac1. I asked how much the estamate was going to be and he said about 80 bucks. I got a call Two weeks later from some washer who was probly high. I went into to shop to pay for my tune up and it was 500 bucks. Wow its seams that the estamate was way off. They would not even give me a discount. They just cracked up about my shitty bike when i was walking out. Its one of these shops when you can have great survace one day and have your bike almost cooked another. I had an excellent experience buying my HooKooEeeKoo at TVP. The bike racer salesman was great, answered all my nerdy engineer questions about bikes, etc. Sold. Then I went back for my free 'tune up' and no friendly anybody to be found. I felt invisible or worse not part of cool team Village Peddler. I bought my 5 year old son's first "big boy" bike here a couple of weeks ago and was thoroughly impressed. The two guys (sorry, can't remember the names now) who were working there that day were really helpful and set everything up, even installing a little bell that I'd chosen as an extra. I rarely ask for help in bike shops because I'm kind of a novice and always get the condescending sales assistant reminding me of what an amateur I am. But these guys were terrific and after buying the bike for the little guy, I spent about 45 minutes figuring out what my next bike is going to be. It felt like I was asking an expert for help, not getting the high-pressure sales pitch. Great service, friendly and none of that snooty sales guy stuff. Will be buying my new bike from here soon! read more

What a ridiculous waste of time this place is. They advertise offering bike fittings specifically "We're Specialized Body Geometry Fit Experts!" on their website (https://www.villagepeddler.com/articles/were-specialized-body-geometry-fit-experts-pg79.htm) so I tried calling them all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. No answer. Their hours state they're open though. We drive down to the store and make an appointment. The employee tells us only the owner does fitting and we could schedule it for the Saturday at $150 each. We make the appointment. 2 days before our appointment the owner calls and nonchalantly tells us that he's not really into doing fittings anymore and would rather be on the sales floor. The Village Peddler is a great bike shop, I have purchased many bicycles over the years from the VP and continue to remain a loyal customer. They offer an honest opinion on the products they sell. Their are no pushy sales people at the shop, everyone there has been extremely nice and has answered all my stupid questions. Service/Repairs have been great at the shop as well, they have been able to track down obscure parts and fix everything that I have. They have also put the time in to make sure that things were right and not half-assed. read more

I bought a mountain bike here about twenty years ago. I still ride it and replaced the tires and tubes recently. I noticed that the bearings in the back wheel felt rough, so I took the wheel here to have them replace the bearings. I was greeted at the counter, by a young man who I think is named Johnny. He was helpful, and said it would be better and about the same price to replace the whole wheel instead of just the bearings. I wanted to continue to use the old wheel so they accepted it to take apart and look for bearings. They called later to say it would be difficult to obtain replacement bearings, so I opted for a new wheel with bearings included. They took the tire and tube off of the old wheel and put them on the new wheel. I picked up the new wheel and took it home to install on the bike. It did not fit because the axle assembly was wider than the old one. I took it and the bike back to the store where I met Dan the bike mechanic, who is also a nice person. He kept the bike and wheel, modified the axle, and put it back together, also adjusting the brakes. I had expected some resistance on both of my visits because the first time I needed only a small repair on an old bike, and the second time was to report a problem. But both times I was treated very well, and received five star repair service. I am giving the shop an overall four star rating because I have not yet explored all of the store. Next time I need something for my bike I will go here first. read more

I built my specialized stumpy custom last year. I did not purchase from VP. I had an issue with my rear hub, kept slipping under hard pressure. I had no warranty or receipt, yet Dan the service manager was able to contact the manufacturer, and obtain a new replacement. I fully expected to have to purchase a new hub for $200+, yet Dan was able to get a new one shipped overnight. I only had to pay for the labor. I was impressed. PS. My only rub is this. Sometimes the parts are more expensive than MSRP (brake pads, chains, etc). And if you want to use your MCBC card for a 10% discount, Steve the owner will insist you have it in your possession! :) Overall, I rate this shop very well. Good guys.
