    Outside "cash is King "

We were happy to find this place as not many options in this area for a quick stop and food . The staff was very nice. They give a deal if you use cash. The food came out quickly and was hot. It was ok I guess I was nit expecting it to be so "breaded " I got the cauliflower which I was happy to see on the menu but it had a lot of breading on the outside and there were no dipping sauce options that I was aware of besides ketchup and mustard The chicken basket was ok, chicken tenders were a bit bland and very thin. The fries were cooked well but no salt which left them bland . Unfortunately the bathrooms were bit very clean at all . Think it would be a great stop if they could just fix up the bathroom and maybe a couple umbrellas on some tables as most were in the sun . Sadly the bathrooms felt not very clean

    BLTs and fries

Heading back to CT from Burlington, VT, we drove into Rutland and a rain storm so intense, we had to pull over. We happened to be very hungry as well, and were lucky that Village Snack Bar was the first parking lot we came to. We ordered BLTs and hand-cut fries, and went to the screened-in dining area in back. The order came right up, and we dug in. Now, you'd think it's hard to screw up a BLT, right? Well, I've had several. Luckily, the sandwich here was perfect. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, the bacon yummy, and the bread was toasted to a golden crust. The bacon was done in that "Goldilocks" range--not brittle and not gummy, and the fries were delish (and such a generous amount). We followed up our dinner with a little soft serve, also yummy. The people were friendly, the bathroom clean, and the food filled our bellies nicely--just in time for the storm to blow over and be back on the road. Thanks, Village Snack Bar! *Rating: I'm giving 5 stars not because it was an opulent atmosphere with gourmet food. It's a casual atmosphere burger/sandwich shop with good, standard fare. And it's 5 stars for being that.

Grandparents and 6-year old boy had lunch today. No kids meals, so he had the burger combo with fries and large chocolate milk (it was large!). Good sized burger--he could only eat half. I also had the burger but wanted onion rings, so they were separate. I forgot to ask for salt and pepper for my burger. Don't get the onion rings, probably the worst I've ever had. Skinny, soggy with grease, considered taking them back. Stick with the fries, they are correctly cooked Vermont-style fries. I also had a pina-colda (Non-A), and it was very good. Grandma had the Rueben Sandwich, it was as expected and good. That was almost 50$, food is expensive everywhere these days, have to get used to that. The Whole Belly Clam dinner with slaw is 30$. And we did get creemees, they were great. Did I mention don't get the onion rings?

Dill pickle chips, onion rings, burger, grilled hot dog, and chicken fingers! Yum!

We've found this the perfect spot to stop for lunch and ice cream on our way back to NY after a camping trip. The large parking lot makes it easy for us to pull in with our camper, and the spacious outdoor area is great for sitting with our dog. The food...it's delicious!! The dill pickle chips are perfection as are the house battered onion rings. The griddled bun for the hot dog adds great extra flavor, and the burger is one of the best I've had in a long time. Then there's the ice cream! Puts the cherry on top of a great meal! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Rutland. So glad we found this little gem!

Great steak and cheese, shrimp, ice cream. Service was fast. Umbrellas outside would be nice.

We have frequented since, and can say confidently that this neighborhood restaurant cares immensely about the people they serve and the food they make. The menu is a wonderful mix of familiar comfort food and innovative new specials, all very well executed. Our favorites are the dry rubbed wings, their collection of fresh salads, and many of their creative tacos! We most recently also tried their blackened shrimp risotto special, and were impressed by the dish - large shrimps, perfectly made risotto, with a healthy dash of spinach...absolutely delicious. The staff is always kind and attentive, the drink selection is extensive, and the atmosphere/decor is delightfully eclectic. My 4 and 7 year olds also loves coming to WSG, because of their fun kids menus that offer a variety of kids entrees...they ask to come back even though I make them eat extra vegetables every time. One thing to note, the restaurant does get packed with people and reservations during some events and ski season, so make a reservation online to avoid being stuck waiting a long time! P.S. Sorry for the photos of partially eaten plates...I have little control over when my family digs in to the yummy food. ‍

The food remains good to excellent. It's a relaxed pub atmosphere, with friendly but not intrusive wait staff. The prices range from pub fare to two star restaurant pricing. The prices are fair for the offerings. This time my partner had the burger which he liked a lot (though he regretted not ordering the turkey dip, which is being dropped from the menu for the summer menu.) I had the pork osso buco. I have always made osso buco with veal, so I was intrigued. I'm also in the middle of oral surgery that makes chewing...shall we say challenging? But no worries. The meat literally fell off the bone and the sauce was delicious, a rich, tomato-based affair. The photo is from their website, but mine came with what was described as a parmesan risotto and some nicely prepared, halved butter carrots spears and what appeared to be deep-fried tortilla strips. They were a nice texture contrast. I thought the risotto was just rice. Good rice -- I liked it -- but I didn't find it to be particularly parmesanish. I really think it's a mistake not to do a true risotto. This needed to be creamier. But I nitpick. The kitchen is good, and turns out solid, delicious dishes. I enjoyed a nice banter from the waiter that was never too much. He even comped our dessert when they were out of our first choice. I will absolutely return.

I only assume she ran the kitchen- and she was NOT happy with the staff. One person even told her he wouldn't be talked to that way anymore. It was extremely tense and we were all uncomfortable. Her screaming orders and belittling staff was louder than any music or conversation. Waitresses were cringing taking orders trying to hear over her. We were there on a Saturday night at 6pm and they ran out of small pizzas and calzones as we sat down. One person got poutine that was ice cold, and the gravy was sour with no taste and cold. Chicken wings were just large breaded chicken tenders with some sauce drizzled over the top of them. Not great atmosphere with the incredible demeaning kitchen staff and food was not good.

To the point where the hanger steak I ordered developed that glazed like look. We returned last night with some family from out of town hoping to show them a good place to eat. We arrived at 6pm We were seated as a party of 7 by 620 due to a canceled reservation. The problems started with our drinks. We ordered three sprite. All three came back without a LICK of syrup in them. No big deal that happens right. So after waiting about 25 minutes after getting our drinks we are finally blessed with presence from wait staff, who took BOTH OUR ENTREE AND APP ORDERS. The apps were great although we waited WAY TOO LONG. When the waiter arrived he stated the "kitchen was backed up". We were sat at 620 and was not severed our entrees until 813! The wait makes since as it was evident the host was not seating sections right. And wait staff were putting in 5 tickets at a time. But the wait can only be justified if the food is good and the service is on point. My brother who I was treating while home from out of state ordered the bone in ribeye which retails at $56. Not only did we wait forever for our food, when it arrived it was not prepared. He ordered a MEDIUM COOK. THE WAITER CONFIRMED "SO WARM PINK CENTER". This steak was brought out seared only. You could see the white fat striation on the meat still and the center WAS BARLEY WARM TO TOUCH. As it's such an expensive cut and amazing steak we asked it be sent back and PREPARED PROPERLY. At this point the waiter states "I'll have him throw it back on the grill for a few minutes." I told him it would need far longer to go from RAW to medium. About 4 minutes later he brings this steak out. It's been microwaved, something obvious by the shrinkage of the steak and the greying of the sear. Then had to gull to PUSH THE BONE UP TO THE STEAK TO HIDE THE STILL RAW MEAT. We got it back and it was still RAW. Through all of this the waiter was doing nothing to accommodate us. WE had to tell him to take it off the bill and all he did was offer us a shitty "wagyu" burger. My brother took him on the offer because at this point we're 2hrs in and he's starving. The burger was sent out UNDERCOOKED. HE ORDERED WELL AND GOT MEDIUM. The lettuce was BROWN and they BURNT THE BUN. I can't help but think this was done solely out of retaliation for sending back the chefs TERRIBLE WORK. I've attached photos.
