Here are the pros and cons: Pros: the wood fired wings and chicken bacon ranch pizza were great, but what made these truly amazing was the bbq sauce!! I loved it so much I asked the server if this was made in house and if I could buy some to take home. We sat inside due to the weather but it's nice that there is an outside option. Cons: Aliyah was our server and although she was very pleasant, her service was extremely slow (we waited 15 minutes for bottled beer) and her extremely long nails are very unsanitary (I've worked as a server in the past and nails this length are strictly prohibited for obvious sanitation reasons). read more

We stopped by this place on Memorial Day from out of town. It was not very busy so we we were seated pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the table that we were seated at was dirty, which was odd seeing as there was basically no one in the restaurant. Either you are not cleaning or you are just choosing poorly for your guests. We were greeted very quickly by the waitress and she was very friendly. We even had a mix up order that she was able to change very quickly (was not her fault, it was a change in one of our orders). We ordered the suggested pepperoni pizza that was supposed to be pepperoni and basil (I love basil on pizza). The poutine was really good and a good portion size, but the price was a bit high. Pizza came out with no basil, which sucked to not have, but the pizza was still really good. I think it could have been cooked on the bottom a bit more, but that is more my personal preference than anything. I think the food is a bit over-priced, but it was still good food. These were some of the best wings I have ever had. I love breaded, so that's what I got, but you can get them without. My boyfriend got the Cobb salad and he said it was one of the best Cobb salads he's ever had. He said the bacon was crispy and cooked perfect. They had an excellent beer selection and our server Max was friendly and attentive. Both came out hot and had good flavor. The marina that came with each was mildly flavored. The garlic cheese bread was very garlicky, and had ample cheese. I had the Vermonter pizza for dinner, per our servers recommendation. It was fantastic. There was so much cheese, it was magnificent! The onion and bacon was perfectly complimented by the apple and maple syrup. The perfect combo of sweet and savory flavors with an excellent crust. I was ecstatic to have leftovers! I also tried the pumpkin spice hard cider, and the pumpkinhead pumpkin ale. Both were good, though the pumpkin spice had better flavor, in my opinion. Just a 30 minute drive from Killington you can get some great beer, wings and pizza. We had both the fried wings and the wood fired wings. Perfect. We had the fried wings with their hottest sauce option. Still mild I'm my opinion. We had 2 medium pizzas. Did a half of Garlic Cheese and a Margherita, then a half Smokehouse Pepperoni and Sausage. This easy-going, unassuming restaurant, tucked behind a Mobil gas station in Rutland, is BUSTLING and it's easy to see why. On our visit, just after Thanksgiving, the place was short staffed, so there was quite a long wait at the door. But the bartender was kind enough to let us sit in the bar area while we waited, where we got to try a few of the many delicious craft brews they have on tap. Maybe we're simple, naive New Yorkers when it comes to beer, but the beers we tried blew us away!! I especially loved Cersei's Wildfire, which wasn't spicy hot, but had a potent nose of jalapeno. Fascinating and delicious. Our wood oven fired pizzas were fantastic, with beautiful, thin, but chewy-substantial crusts and just the right amount of toppings (on one, pepperoni and fresh basil; on the other bacon, tomato, basil). No sogginess at all. In fact, leftovers held up well for a late night snack. We thought these were better than the original Patsy's in NYC and that's saying quite a lot. A roasted veggie salad was also stellar, with beautifully oven-roasted asparagus, zucchini and yellow squash, grape tomato over good mesclun. The staff were overwhelmed, but the bartender, who pinch hit as our server, ran his tail off and was so pleasant, despite the crush. We seldom ski at Killington because it's so crowded. If we followed some of the reviews we'd have missed this place. And as a result we'd have missed out on a good experience. Our server was wonderful. The pizza was delicious and the two flights came labeled and were great recommendations. It's a converted former restaurant, but the layout works. Just stopped by Vermont Tap House for the first time while shopping in Rutland. It was a great find! Service was fantastic and timely. The Sweet Goat pizza was delicious, especially with the addition of Vermont maple drizzle. We also tried the beer flight so we got to sample 4 different 5-oz beers. Some were great (the Pils was my favorite) and some we didn't love (Mas Agave was not our favorite...) but it was fun to be able to try something new! Would definitely recommend this spot read more

We arrived at this establishment during a out of town visit to the area playing AAU basketball. We arrived and found that there was only one server on duty. A group of 15 from another team was ahead of us. The one server was serving no less than 50 people total and we still had outstanding service!!!!! The food was prompt and was overall very good. We were in town for World Cup at Killington and wanted a few beers. Stopped in at n the Friday night and grabbed two seats at the bar. I think there was 30-40 beers on tap. Wife and I explored several tastes tap beers and finishes up with a Heady Topper in a can. Super friendly bartender that was multitasking but was attentive for her workload. We stopped back the next night for pizza and beers. Place was fairly busy and it was obvious they were suffering from staffing shortages. A backup at the door for tables started happening and a waiter stepped out to f kitchen and worked his magic. Sent a few people away but he made things happen. We were seated and same waiter had our table. Got us beers right away and came right back for our order. We ordered two small pizzas, one Hawaiian and one BBQ chicken. Our first choices were either closed or we had already been there this trip. I suggested this place and my son didn't really want to go there, given the 3.5 star rating. We went anyway at my urging. We walked over so got a good look at the faded sign as we entered the gas station parking lot. Not a good sign. Walked into the restaurant and it was fairly busy with locals, a good sign so maybe We were seated and ordered an appetizer and a soda, and I asked about the beers and if they did flights. He said yes, so I picked out 4 I wanted to try. Food came out, a burger and a small "Mad about meat" pizza. While the burger looked and tasked good, the pizza looked off from the start. Meat was weird looking - is that meatball? sausage? It smelled and tasted off. The cheese on the pizza was also gross, resulting in an almost inedible pizza. Who messes up a pizza??? Our food came out to almost $60 for two people (one app, a soda, the beer flight which ended up costing $12 vs $7 for a single beer, and the entrees.) We paid and hightailed it out of there. You want a locally owned place to succeed. There is so much potential. The wood oven pizza was generally good. The salads were fresh, tasty. The service was slow. The AC was broken (could have been 2 stars). The beer list is wonderful - the star of the show. First, the pizza. The sweet goat was delicious and cooked perfectly. The simple margarita was good with tomatoes that were cut too thick and weren't local (since they seemed to be under ripe) - it made it soupy and doughy. The make your own including sausage, mushroom and onion was bad because the sausage seemed processed with that pork taste when it is cooked and stored a few days - it's Vermont... where is the crumbly local sausage? We all picked off the sausage and didn't say anything. The salads were nice and the dressings were fresh. The chicken in the cob was dry and maybe boiled - didn't touch it. They are changing their name soon and this review won't matter. Hopefully, with the name change, we will see changes to the prep of food and some of the ingredients.
