This place is so awesome. The food was excellent. The staff is amazing. The Cook sure knows what she's doing.

Nostalgic old sign in a place of honor.

My wife and I stopped in for the first time in a Saturday morning and we're blown away by how good the food and service were. It's a small diner with lots of nostalgic local photos on the walls that give you a real sense of the community. Very clean, very intimate and our meals were absolutely perfect. We'll stop in again at the earliest possible opportunity!

My Grandparents used to visit this establishment years ago so I wanted to bring my Grandmother back to her old stomping ground. I asked her if it looks the same as she remembered and she said "Yes." The menu options were plentiful and gave a homey , comfort food feeling. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food. I probably would have plated the food to a more desirable look to appease the appetite, but the food was delicious and did not leave hungry or had an overstuffed feeling. The wait staff, kitchen staff were pleasant and have been working here for many years . I took up conversation to another person who had been coming here for years and he had nothing but positive things to say, he enjoyed his meal and left with a piece of pie for later. If you are expecting a 5 star meal of gourmet style do not stop but if you enjoy nostalgia and conversing with the locals then this is the diner for you to satisfy your tastebuds and growling stomach. Thank you Halfway House Restaurant!

If you're visiting our state and drive by thinking this is a "hole-in-the-wall," you'd be absolutely wrong. If you're a local and haven't been here, what are you waiting for? The food is simple country food cooked to perfection, the prices are right, the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's like eating at your grandmother's. Every time I get a craving for poutine, but don't want to drive up to Canada--this is the place to go. Yesterday, I had it made with shoestring fries for the first time and it was out of this world! Wonderful comfort food in a wonderfully comforting place. Love everything about this restaurant.

While the restaurant was mostly full, we did not have to wait to be seated. Unfortunately they don't serve breakfast after 12 so only lunch/dinner items were available except for a breakfast buffet which the server advised would be available for only another 45 minutes. I looked at the small buffet menu showing what was available on today's buffet: sausage links, bacon, corned beef, sausage gravy, pastries, fruit, French toast sticks, and ham and cheese omelets and since nothing really appealed to any of us we decided we would pass on the buffet however when the server came to get our drink orders she advised us that if we wanted to order off the menu it would take 50 minutes to an hour to get our food. We asked if we got an appetizer in addition to the food if that would at least come out sooner so we could snack on something while we waited but she said probably not so we all went for the buffet. I so wished I hadn't. The sausage links and bacon were to be expected but the corned beef hash was definitely the canned variety that looks more like cat food than human food and since it wasn't cooked crisp, it was just a soggy mess. The fruit was the standard cantalope and melon but weren't really very flavor able. The sausage gravy was decent and had lots of sausage in it but the biscuits were small, cold, and hard. I'm not an omelette person usually but this one was kind of strange. Instead of small individual omelettes, they were large rolled or possibly folded eggs, with diced ham and melted cheddar then sliced in sections so it kind of resembled a Stromboli bread with eggs instead of bread and judging by by the consistency and texture, the eggs must be pre-mixed eggs in a carton. I was not a fan. The French toast sticks were ok. Nothing great but it the worst item on the Buffett. The one really good item on the buffet was the blueberry muffin. Which was packed full of large, real blueberries. I ate two of those. Service was ok, our server was nice and polite and refilled our drinks when we asked but the cashier had little or no personality. He never asked how our meal was or said have a great day or even said thank you.

Ambience: It's a genuine 1950s Worcester Lunch Car--complete with Formica counters, vinyl booths, and tile floors that feel like they haven't changed since before your grandparents were born. Charming if you like that "museum exhibit" vibe--but cozy it isn't. Seating is tight, and the wait can feel longer than vintage itself. Food: Yes, it's scratch-made breakfast and lunch--maple syrup is local, English muffins made in-house, eggs fresh from Vermont farms. Great effort. But then you find out the famous hot turkey sandwich and VT burger that earned Roadfood praise under the old owner are no longer on the menu. The new proprietors swapped nostalgia for a rewritten menu--and higher prices. Some folks rave about the blueberry jam and standout flavors, but others griped that biscuits and gravy were "downright gross." Contrasting reviews and extra-charge condiment notes further muddle expectations. Service: Staff tend to move with diner efficiency--fast, polite, and no fuss. That said, reviews note some inconsistency: stellar one day, meh the next. They're friendly, but don't expect a guided gastronomic tour--just order, eat, move on. Value: With plates clocking in near $19 for diner fare like chicken-fried steak and breakfast burrito bowls, this isn't exactly your classic greasy spoon find. Everything tastes well-executed, but you're paying for that curated "local ingredients" label--not bargain basement. Bottom line: If you're nostalgic for a parlor that looks like a train car and serve-your-mother's-recipe breakfast served up with giddy pride, Parkway Diner might still charm. Just be ready to pay for ingredient provenance and ditch your hopes for old favorites like the hot turkey sandwich or VT burger. Solid for breakfast or lunch, but don't expect miracles--even if they serve bottomless coffee.

Two Brothers was the choice from the desk so we went with it and so glad we did. Place looked pretty busy, bar was full, we were seated pretty much right away. The menu is smaller (perfect amount of items , hate too many choices) but done well. We love doing shareable so we can try a bunch of different things. The mussels were the absolute show stopper here, different than most. Tequila, spicy, little bits of sausage, (i would have drank the broth or made this a soup it was so good) The Poutine was different than I was used to, it was our least favorite but still ok. This is just a personal preference but I'm used to being smothered in gravy, it was almost non existent. It's like the ere was a ladle on the bottom and fries on top so didn't get a lot of it. The street corn dip was really good, much different than others I've had as well but in a really good way. It was hearty with lots of corn, had some nice spice to it. We also had (not pictured) French onion soup, loved it, nice peppery, piping hot. The cheddar ale soup, best I've had, literally you can taste all the components of this, rich, thick, creamy, sharp cheddar with a hint of the ale in the background. For dessert we took the donut holes to go, the colors dip was amazing, the chocolate looked like it was seized up a bit, we also ate this a little later so it could have been us and not from then. This looks like a super fun place to belly up at the bar, it has the hometown feel , we are already planning a stop on our drive back later this week!
