Though I am hesitant to admit it, they have exceeded my expectations, taking out some nasty stains from dress shirts and trousers such as tomato sauce, dark beer, grass, mud and and even blood. Every order has been done in a timely manner with professional customer service. I have never had them alter a garment, however they did a good job fixing a torn stitch in a leather jacket. Though I am out and about a lot and have to use other cleaners from time to time, I never take valuable items elsewhere.

Their idea of heavy starch is lacking, but they have been no better or worse than the other cleaners in town. I have also had many suits altered with decent results. UNTIL TODAY. In my last batch of 14 shirts I had cleaned/pressed, one white dress shirt collar was scorched brown all the way around the collar. Just the collar, nowhere else. On a light blue dress shirt, it was returned with a half dollar sized oil spot right in the front of the shirt. Perfectly round. Of course I didn't take the tags off the shirts. I figured I would return them to the cleaners and have them "reclean" them to correct them (at no charge to me). Well when I went in this morning with a suit and 14 shirts, I showed the two shirts to the proprietor, and she proceeded to tell me that the white shirt could be laundered for $1.89+/- and the blue shirt would have to be dry cleaned for $4.35 +/-. I gave her a chance to correct herself by telling her that I didn't cause these issues, the cleaners did and that I wasn't going to pay for their errors. Instead of trying to understand that it was the cleaner's mistake, she kept repeating the prices over and over to me. I asked her if she thought it was right that I had to pay for their mistake. She repeated the prices to me once again. I grabbed my clothes and told her I would never be back. Now, was that incredibly poor display of customer service worth all the business she is going to lose with me and everyone else I talk to about it??? I think not.

What is a bit bazaar is that the only difference between a regular shirt and a tall one is an extra inch in the body and sleeves. So, what is the additional cost to justify the up charge? Ten cents? But hey, businesses are allowed to charge whatever they want, of course, and, in the end, they kind of did me a favor. After I quit them, I found an excellent dry cleaner nearby (University Cleaners). Better service, no discriminatory up charges for tall people.

I return a dry-cleaned suit jacket because the arm pits still smelled after Fair Center Cleaners' initial service. I specifically explained this a re-clean because they didn't clean it effectively the first time. Upon picking up the jacket the second time, the same smell exists and is easily detected by waving the jacket around. The staff claim they can't smell any body odor. I was absolutely appalled 1) that they claimed they couldn't smell it and 2) they refused to return the paid amount $8.50. Why would I bother to give them a third chance to 'clean' it again. I explained I have been coming here for a number of years (mostly laundry not dry-cleaning) and asked why they are they lying, not providing a cleaned product, and do they not care about retaining customers. The owner said, 'We don't need your business.' Well there you have it folks, consider finding a dry cleaner that actually needs customers instead of taking money for continued failed service. I went back to the store, hoping they'd fix it, and instead of taking responsibility, the staff stated that I had changed my mind and insisted that the hem was the length I requested. The hem sat 2 inches past my shoes and dragged on the floor. I was unable to walk without tripping. The seamstress refused to fix the length of the hem unless I agreed with her that I had "changed my mind and said I was sorry." I've never been treated so rudely by a business. They failed to do the job right, and the customer service was appalling. I felt they were very disrespectful and implied that I was a liar. I will never return.
