The things that I've learned from Vincent Chase stay with me he was a true master of coaching teaching. He knew how to get the performance out of the actor. When I studied with him we had three cameras we had people that were behind the cameras, following the actor, so the actor always knows where they're supposed to be playing to . He was a true original besides Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, Rick Rossovich...hello Val Kilmer, Matthew McConaughey!!!! He also was the inspiration and the namesake behind the character, Vincent Chase on Entourage because Mark Wahlberg studied with and learned so much from Vincent Chase. We would receive scripts from A-list actors from CAA and William Morris. Those scripts would give us new material-things that haven't been made yet-ways for us to create characters and create them the way that we felt that they should be shaped. Vincent Chase was a one-of-a-kind, unique human being. He had an amazing gift...that's evident in all the work that he's done in all the work of all the people that he's coached and all the careers that he shaped along the way...You have to know him to love him and the Irish setters that he had. I will never forget that man, his influence and how he has shaped the career that I had....I've stepped away from Hollywood, but everything he taught me and that I learned from him still remains... I met Vince back in 1986 when he had students like Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn and Rick Rossovich. He had a full program runnning, like a school, classes mon-fri and all different subjects from cold reading to scene study, script breakdown, performance labs, industry showcases. He always had 3 cameras going so you could see each actors closeup and then a medium shot of both actors. He was overly generous and very nurturing. A mentor and friend at same time. He died 2 years ago , May 28, 2018. He was a classic and will be missed. a side note to SS who gave a 1 star review...he died a year after you wrote your post, of cancer. Not to minimize your bad experience but you really didnt experience HIM to be able to write that about him. That was obviously being run by someone else at his studio as he was in his late 80s by then and certainly didnt know about computers or even how to get online. Might not have even been mentally cognizant at that point. He was probably in some hospital or doing some ravaging treatment and didn't even know you placed an order. And some intern was probably taking advantage using Bridgegate as a personal piggy bank. He was taken advantage of alot bc he was too generous and too forgiving. Vincent is one of the better people I've met in my life. His knowledge of life and acting and how to combine the two together to have a technically excellent and emotionally free and organic work is beyond ordinary. Mr Chase has been teaching for many years and helped many respected actors in the industry to get to where they are now. Vincent developed his own technique which is described in his book that is about to come out. I was very interested in learning more about Vincent Chase after hearing about his celebrity studded private acting classes on the Maron podcast. So I checked out his website and saw that he has a DVD that they were claiming was a great educational experience. So naturally I attempted to purchase his DVD through his website. After that the only thing they were able to do quickly was charge my credit-card, since then it's been pretty much nothing, radio silence. Months have gone by and I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I left them many emails and voicemails asking when I can expect my DVD and they were all met with no response, nothing. Finally 2 months later they respond and tell me "It's on back-order and you'll be the first to get it" did not get it. Fast forward another 2 months and still nothing. This company Bridgegate Films & Vincent Chase is a scam, whatever you do DO NOT buy their DVD, you will NEVER receive it or your money back! On a whim I decided to join my buddy Orion Griffiths and drop in on one of his classes. I'll say this, Vincent was as genuine as they get and thoroughly made me feel welcome among his other students. It's easy to see that Vince takes true pride in his work and wants each of his students to excel in what ever endeavor they have their hearts set on. As the grandson of a well known Vaudeville show biz family (Jimmy and Jane Rae) I can truly appreciate Vince's desire and willingness to do things properly and thoroughly. A great Acting Coach and a caring person. Vincent Chase loves what he does and it shows. To me he is a true guru in the art of acting. I wouldn't just call him a teacher, I'd call him a transformer. No.. he's not a Robot, although he has worked with Shia LaBeouf, but I mean he has transformed me into a better person and actor. I was really lucky to be referred to Vince when I first moved to LA about a year ago. I knew no one and was really nervous about taking classes here because I didn't know how I would stack up and I'd heard so many horror stories about how expensive they can be. Vince loves acting and loves making great actors and he is great at doing just that. His prices are shockingly reasonable and he is one of the most generous teachers I've worked with. Vince never puts a time limit when it comes to helping his students. I always had fun and learned a shit load in every single class. Plus, I always knew that he was sincere in his feedback. Vincent Chase is a fantastic teacher. He doesn't mess around. He's not afraid to praise work when it's great and he's not afraid to call you on your tricks when you're being lazy. He's one of the most supportive/informative teachers I've ever worked with and that's saying a lot. If you're ready to work to build/grow/sharpen your acting skills or are looking to get help on an upcoming audition or job you have coming up, you're not going to find anyone better. He's awesome. He's centrally located in Hollywood (which is nice) but the biggest thing for me was the complete lack of bs. Sunday, 22 February 2015: When I first moved from my home city of Denver in the late 70's to Los Angeles with only high school drama experience, I studied under a few drama teachers and some were good and some not so good. I sat in a few other teachers classes, but none were what I wanted. However, I was in a stage play in Hollywood in 1983 {Short Eyes} and it was a cast mate of mine that told me about the great Vincent Chase. From the very first class in 1984 to the late nineties, I have Never found a greater teacher for me than Vincent Chase, whom I fondly called Mr. VC. Vince is a great teacher to the big name stars and unknown up and coming stars. I was in class with some known working actors/actresses. He has a great sense of humor, a good heart and really breaks down every technique that is needed from cold reading to getting the role. On a scale of 1-10, I give Vince a 10 because he was and still is one of the best in Hollywood. Vincent Chase is a living legend, yes he is alive! The reason I say this is because every casting director in Hollywood is familiar with Vince's instruction, but many do not know that Vince is still going as strong as ever in his old age and wisdom, and his workshop has relocated from his studio on Sunset Blvd. to his home in West Hollywood. I have studied with Vince since a young child and have grown tremendously as an actor and performer.
