Our fabulous plumbers (Bradbury's Plumbing and Heating) had recommended Rottari Electric and we were so pleased to have found Bob. It felt like everyone in the state of Maine was looking for a generator, there were none to be had, online, in Home Depot, in Loews etc. Bob was amazing, he contacted all of his usual generator sources, helped us with our online search and handled all of my stupid questions about 8Kw vs 17Kw happily. When the propane company kept changing the day they would be coming to install the propane tank Bob was totally flexible with the install of the generator. He was even happy to have the generator shipped to his home rather than leaving it unattended at our home as I wouldn't be there for two days when it was due to arrive. On the day of the installation he was prompt and he happily helped remove a small area of a fence (required by the propane company) which was totally above and beyond what we had asked him to do. Our generator has been installed for a month now and just tonight I had another stupid question about the switches in the panel when one of our lights fused. Bob responded to my email in less than an hour even though it was evening, he explained the answer very simply so even I could manage it :) I would recommend Rottari Electrical to anyone needing any kind of residential electrical work - from generator installs to other projects - Bob is trustworthy, knowledgeable and professional.

Make sure to resolve any questions or concerns BEFORE paying the bill. If your husband calls him to discuss the price afterward, make sure to be on the call to dispell some of the mis-truths. When I attempted to address some questions/concerns, he admitted that he should have talked to me before making the executive decision and presented a possible fix but then didn't call me back as he said he would. I can accept that some of the issues happened because I didn't ask enough questions. He initially agreed that he should have asked first but later went back and wasn't willing to accept his piece when he spoke with my husband. Just not a good experience at all!

I particularly don't want to reveal how quickly Darrel can swing into action in an emergency. I don't understand why other contractors are so hard to schedule, but Darrel is the most accommodating tradesmen I have ever encountered. I suppose it won't be that risky to vouch for his high expertise and the efficiency with which he solves house wiring problems. Probably won't hurt to mention what a good guy he is and how well he explains what he is proposing to do or what he has done. He respects one's intelligence. Ok, ok, so his charges are reasonable, too. So anyway, as a favor to me, please don't hire Darrell for at least a few years so that I can have as much of his time as I want. I'm pretty old and you young people can afford to wait a while. If you are unwilling to grant my favor and you do hire Darrel, you will be getting the best electrician around. Contractors these days seem more interested in the big jobs than the everyday small ones we all have eventually. P&D concentrates on what he called the "Mom & Pop" jobs. So long story short the well line from our old farm house to the well that's about 300 feet away…read moreand very old finally went. American Mechanical & Plumbing was recommended by someone on a local community Facebook page so I contacted him by phone. He was very easy to talk to and he confirmed my suspicions about the old well line being no good. He recommended trying to lay a temporary poly line above ground but given the distance and grade it just wouldn't work but it wasn't from lack of trying. Jeff and his partner tried for a few hours with no luck and then only charged us for the fittings. Fast forward a week and we had another great guy doing all the excavation and he and Jeff linked up and came up with a plan to get water back on. Excavation guy did his thing and then this morning (July 12th) he showed up and had everything connected and water flowing in two hours. He came up with the idea to ditch our old shallow well jet pump and put a pump in the well with a 20 gallon pressure tank in our basement. What an upgrade. We really can't recommend him enough.
