We held our wedding at Vine Hill House a few weeks ago and we're still smiling from the amazing day. From our first meeting with Dan, we knew we were in good hands. The property itself was so gorgeous with well maintained gardens and views of rolling vineyards. The website really doesn't do the venue justice. Dan is very organized and has seen it all, so planning with him is easy and he helps you make decisions. I really appreciated his guidance on ceremony/vendors/timing/bar and his suggestions throughout the process. Our guests, many from out of state, loved the setting so much. Dan worked closely with the photographer/caterer/DJ/bartenders to ensure that the timing was smooth and there was no down time, each event led seamlessly into the next. We were married June 2016 here and I cannot say enough wonderful things. I've worked in special events for many years so I know how things are suppose to go. I was very particular about things and Dan helped us execute. We had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding they've ever attended! Dan is wonderful and kept in touch with us (meetings too!) every step of the way so we didn't feel stress on the big day. He keeps things moving on your day too so nothing gets too far off schedule. I have always pictured and imagined the spot where I would get married one day. A spot that was imagined but yet to be experienced. After attending a wedding here (August 2016), as a guest, I can now say that I have finally seen the spot what was previously just imagined. Vine Hill House is an absolute dream. What a special venue. What a special treat. I feel lucky to have been to this venue. I can only say great things about this place. Beautiful setting. Stunning views (for both the ceremony location and the dinner location). Quaint and idyllic. Warm and inviting. Country chic. Classy yet relaxed. And the event was a seamless process from start to finish. The management really know how to ensure that everything goes as planned. The DJ, Alex, oversees the timing of many stages of the event and ensures that people are seated or moving to the next location at the proper times. We arrived prior to the ceremony. Everyone was standing around the cocktail area where they were serving a selection of non-alcoholic refreshments prior to the ceremony. The decor was simple and country chic. Once the ceremony was set to begin, we were told to move to our seats. The seating was setup in a higher spot on the property. White chairs surrounded by a beautiful canopy of trees and with a view in the background of rolling vineyard hills. After the ceremony concluded, we were then free to roam around the venue. Servers started with trays of champagne and wine. There was also a bar open with a variety of options. The appetizers came around (frequently!) on trays. There were also several table areas with a variety of appetizers for self-service. I had plenty of food options and there was plenty of food. The food was also very delicious. Crab cakes on a toothpick and heirloom tomato bruschetta were two of my favorites. After much enjoyment time, having drinks and eating appetizers, we were then told to take our seats in the dining area. A beautiful lawn with small round tables. Again, with background views of stunning rolling vineyard hills. Once the sun started to set, we also had a perfect view of the perfect and beautiful pink and orange sunset. What a dream. The dinner was served family style at each table (bride's choice). All of the food was well-prepared and tasty. For those with special food needs, special orders were also delivered to the select guests. I received a vegan salad (because I avoid dairy) and they made me a special order of mashed potatoes (because I didn't want to have the mashed potatoes that were being served with meat). Very classy treatment of their guests. Super impressed. After the dinner ended, the dance floor opened up. The DJ, Alex, was great. He played a variety of great songs and was also very open to taking requests. Top class service. My only issue, of complaint, was that it did get quite chilly towards the end of our evening. While they do have many patio heaters setup, it still didn't keep us warm. Many of us ended up wearing our coats. While the weather is not something that they can control, it is just something to keep in mind. Obviously, it doesn't take away from my five star rating...just something that is important to note. I would just suggest that all guests know to bring something warm to wear. Thank you Vine Hill House, you did a phenominal job for Bryan and Mitzy. I hope that some day I may return to this venue. Words can not describe how much I absolutely love Vine Hill house from the moment we took that right turn and drove up the drive way towards the house and walked in threw the patio door that's surrounded by hydrangeas I was in love. I recently attended a wedding here and although it's a vineyard we got a backyard feel throughout the evening I honestly didn't want to leave and wished I could have even stayed the night. For anyone looking for an intimate wedding venue with that backyard vineyard feel this is the perfect place I'm even considering having my wedding here. Dan and Dawnyel are absolute LIVE SAVERS. They helped me through every step of the process (especially with some difficult vendors who were not on their recommended vendor list) and made sure everything was taken care of and I wasn't over paying for anything. Where to start. I guess at the beginning. Believe the hype. There are already a bunch of well written reviews across the internet and we were skeptical to believe that they could pull off so many flawless weddings, but we're now believers. Dan has perfected and fine tuned every detail of a wedding. He has a carefully selected list of preferred vendors that are also professionals and know how to work well together. In the lead up to the wedding Dan has well spaced meetings that allow for additional coordination and guidance. When the wedding day finally arrives Dan is constantly there in the background like the conductor of a master orchestra making sure everyone is in sync and on time. The team working there loves what they do and it clearly shows. Everyone was a delight to work with and the guest raved about everything the venue had to offer. We are not usually ones to write reviews but we are so blown away and thankful for how well everything went that we felt like we absolutely had to. Ps. The day of coordinator, Dawnyel, was a wedding day guardian angel who was always looking out and 2 steps ahead. I can't image my wedding anywhere other than VHH. I'm SO happy we decided to get married there earlier this month. I go on and on about how beautiful the venue is, and it is stunning. What stands out to me the most about my wedding day and VHH is how amazing Dan and Dawnyel are. Dan is so on top of it throughout the planning process that I never felt behind in planning. He kept us accountable with a checklist of all our action items and regular check ins, which I loved as a pretty laid back bride. He even told us what color notebook our officiate should hold for photos (black FYI :)), which was definitely not on my radar but photographed perfectly. Since I did not have a wedding party I opted to work with Dawnyel as my day of "assistant", which you can add onto your day of services. She took care of EVERYTHING, including making sure my champagne glass was always topped off. She even fixed my bustle in the middle of the dance floor. Seriously, don't question if you should book VHH. Just do it early so you can snag a good date! And don't worry about the smaller list of vendors (caterer and entertainment) that VHH works with, they are all amazing and a testament to Dan's experience in the space. DO IT! read more

I was in the bridal party for a wedding at this venue, and everyone loved it. 1. Gorgeous venue. The view is amazing, the house is so cute, the lighting is beautiful. Our flowers almost didn't show up and nobody was worried since the venue looks great even without extra decoration. 2. The people who run the venue are so helpful. I interacted with Dan and Dawnyel and they were so on top of everything. The bride was always telling me what an easy process it was to work with Vine Hill. All wedding planning that was done with them was completely stress free. 3. They have great recommended vendors. Everyone Vine Hill recommended did amazing work, was super communicative, and there were pretty much zero issues. Vine Hill House was the perfect venue for our August wedding. We had been recommended by several friends who had attended or had their weddings at this venue based on our search for a backyard mixed with winery vibe. It ended up being the perfect location. The site itself is gorgeous & well kept. I was concerned how it would look since we were in a drought, but the gardens were just as beautiful as I imagined. I also really like the fact that all the big rentals were included, as well as umbrellas & heaters to help with some of the weather throughout the event. There are also a bunch of great decor items that are available for rent, and doing all of this through the venue just makes everything so easy. It was great that we could bring in all our own liquor, caterers, vendors, etc. I was able to assemble my dream vendor team at an amazing venue with little restrictions. Dan is very knowledgeable and provides a ton of insight, guidance, and help throughout the process. I'm very organized & detailed, so I appreciated that Dan was as well. My only small gripe is that he is very particular about certain things or processes, which if you want to get super creative might not work. Overall we trusted his opinion since he has been doing this for so long & everything went off without a hitch! Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I have only heard good things from all of our guests, that it was the "best wedding EVER!" Tips: - Trust Dan, he knows what he is doing & is probably recommending the best way for it to be done. However, feel free to ask if you can do something a little differently if it is important. - If you don't hear from him via email, keep trying or call his cell phone. Thank you Dan! We had the best weekend of our lives getting married at the Vine Hill House in September. We chose the venue about a year in advance (it books up fast) and we were rewarded. This is one of the most wonderful places anywhere to get married, here are some reasons why we loved it: It's beautiful. The location is stunning. Surrounded by apple trees and vineyards, seated on lawn overlooking the countryside, being wed in a grove of beautiful trees overlooking rolling hillsides... what more could you ask for. The house itself is also warm and lovely. Dan will make your wedding work. Dan O'Connell, the owner, is also your wedding coordinator. Dan has made hundreds of weddings go off without a hitch on his property, and he'll do the same for you. Dan knew just what to do with all the decisions, from big to small (from how to set up the bar to how to break the glass). And, he's flexible - if you want it your way he makes adjustments so you get what you want on your big day. It's flexible. This is a pretty and intimate space, but it's got a lot of configuration options and "behind the scenes" thought put into it. It's suitable for small event,s or larger events (we had 180 guests and they fit very comfortably). It's got a whole staging area for catering that your guests will never see. I got married here last September and recently made my wedding album and was struck by the beauty of the place and flooded with memories. Dan and Dawnyel, the Vine Hill House team, were lovely to work with - organized and professional with over 17 years experience in putting on weddings at the venue. With they're help, the wedding day went super smoothly for everyone involved. Many guests complimented the venue as "one of the most picturesque" they'd ever been to as well as remarking about the overall "perfect pace of the evening." On the morning of the event, though I was nervous about the actually wedding ceremony, I had no anxiety about how the event would go, confident that the Vine Hill House team had us covered - and that certainly proved to be true! Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said about this incredible venue and its two amazing owners, Dan and Jan? My husband and I were married at Vine Hill House this July, and I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. I am sad that planning our wedding at VHH is over already! From the moment I contact Dan and Jan, they were so wonderful -- responsive, professional, patient and extremely organized! Not only that, but they are both incredibly kind and genuine people. Vine Hill House was only the second venue we visited, and the moment we stepped foot on the perfectly-manicured grounds, we were sold. We contact Dan that very evening and asked where to sign. ;) The entire property is so well taken care of and the view is out of this world! The pinot noir they make is stellar as well. In addition to helping us stay organized for our wedding day, Dan also made excellent suggestions for all other aspects of the wedding from the caterer, officiant, rehearsal dinner location, wedding cake, hotels and florist. The day of the wedding, all my planning stress went out the door. Dan was completely on top of everything and made the entire day run so smoothly. If anything went wrong, I would have no idea, really. The weather was perfect that day and Dan has the timing of events down to a science....he can tell you exactly where the sun will be at what time during what season. A great man right there. :) We received so many compliments from our guests that it was one of the most beautiful wedding venues they had ever been to. The whole feel of the place is so inviting, romantic and cozy.....it's really hard to beat. When we were looking for a wedding venue we looked at private estates as well as vineyards. We've always wanted a vineyard wedding without the SUPER expensive vineyard price. I came across Vine Hill House and was immediately drawn to it because it has BYO with no corkage fee. Score! Dan, the owner, was very responsive from the beginning scheduling a time for us to arrive. When we did, we were blown away. The views are AMAZING. Breathtaking. He has a great system laid out with how everything flows and he is VERY organized. Honestly, he is just as organized, if not more, than the wedding coordinators at large, corporate vineyards. We all fell in love with him and thats the reason that it was in our top choices until the very end. He has professional, clean bathrooms set up so you don't have to rent port-a-pottys for your wedding. He also has an amazing little wine cave hidden in trees and lit by lights. My Wife and I got married at Vine Hill House on May 26th and it was incredible. Dan and Dawnyel know exactly what has to happen to make your day everything that you want it to be. During the planning process Dan asks you every question you could think of and prepares for any eventuality, he makes sure your day goes as smoothly as possible. Dawnyel was our day of coordinator and she was both invisible and always there when you needed her, most of the time with a drink in her had for you. It is such a stunning venue and wonderful place. We had 150 guests and while being plenty big enough to accommodate that, it still felt incredibly intimate. It was the happiest and most fun day of my life and Dan and Dawnyel made that possible. My wife and I got married at this venue a few weeks ago. I just want to say how wonderful this place is. We looked at a lot of vineyards in Sonoma/Napa. Unfortunately, a lot of places charge a lot just to use their venue, then force you to buy their overpriced wine. At Vine Hill House, the venue cost is very reasonable and they only require you to buy a case of their wine (which is quite good, so I didn't mind). Best of all is the proprietor, Dan, who is amazing. He is clearly passionate about coordinating weddings, and is indispensable. He will provide great suggestions and feedback. He is also great at giving assignments so that you get plan your wedding thoughtfully. I'll admit that he can be very... particular about some things, but that's because he's done this many times before and knows what works. Really, this place is heavenly. read more

We got married at Vine Hill House on 10/24/15, and I must say, in no way do we regret our choice of venue. I found the place via a friend that got married there in 2014, and she raved about Dan and his site so much I had to look into it. Our wedding values were: 1) Open Bar, 2) Awesome Food, 3) Raging Dance party. VHH allowed us to have all of the above. Our guests were blown away by a lot of things about the venue, but here are the main points: - Our wedding started on time (when does that ever happen) - The sheer beauty of the venue - The atmosphere created by the lighting after dark - How well-run everything was To put it mildly, I am type A+++ and working with Dan gave me the reassurance that our event would be handled up to my standards. One note (for people like me) - Dan runs up to 4 weddings a week during high season, so he may not respond to email quickly - I promise, it's fine, he is totally responsible and on top of everything. If you want to be able to enjoy your day with no worries, and have a dream venue to boot, this is the place in wine country. The owners/employees seem to know what they are doing- I don't thing anything went wrong the day of the wedding on their end. The bridal party got ready in the house-super cute and quaint inside. We got married at Vine Hill House August 2019 and it was an incredible experience throughout the planning process and wedding day! * The venue is beautiful and well maintained - complete with a redwood tree grove, apple orchards, vineyards, oak trees, spacious guests bathrooms, and a cute home (available to the bridal party to get ready in morning + baby sitting during the reception evening). During the day, the views of the in vineyard are gorgeous. In the evening, the venue is lit up by charming market lights and and twinkle lights.  The layout of the venue is great - there are many different spaces for guest to socialize and explore - it feels intimate but spacious. We also appreciated the amenities that came with the venue, and were happy we could add on things like a fire-pits, tasting bars, and lawn games. Overall, our guests called it 'magical' - and it was a true treat for both locals and out-of-town guests! * The staff at Vine Hill is excellent - caring, experienced, and professional. Dan and Dawnyel work with you during the planning to make sure you stay on-top of vendors and a planning timeline. They also provide a list of recommended vendors, which was very helpful. On the day of the wedding, they are full of positivity and were beyond attentive. The wedding day sped by, but Dawnyel and Dan were always ready with a smile, knowing how to help and make us feel cared for (and fed!) * Overall, we had 130 guests and were looking for a venue that showcased our favorite parts of Sonoma county - redwoods, vineyards, apple orchards, and down-to-earth elegance. We  wanted a venue with an excellent staff, reasonable price, recommendations for vendors, and accessible facilities for all of our guests (bathrooms, parking, sturdy walk ways etc). We had our wedding at Vine Hill House on 4/22 and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. It's obviously a beautiful location for a wedding but what impressed us the most was the execution by Dan and his team on the wedding day, as well as all of the preparation that went into it. Simply put, Dan is the man, and we could not have asked for a better wedding experience. Dan made sure that every possible scenario was accounted for and that nothing was left to chance. This resulted in many of our guests telling us it was the best-executed wedding they had ever been to. We also had to deal with the complication of rain as it poured all morning on the day of our wedding but Dan somehow knew exactly when the rain would stop and quickly put changes in place so we would do every part of the wedding outside except for the dining, which was in a very nice tent he had put up on the side lawn of the venue. Dan was a pleasure to work with and is a great guy who you can really tell cares about you and wants to make sure that you are not just satisfied but thrilled with your wedding experience. Vine Hill House was such a great, easy place to get married. I can't recommend it enough! Dan is amazing at what he does and makes the process of planning a wedding so much easier. He also helps keep everything moving day-of, which is huge! The team over there could not have done a better job and we had such a good time with everyone. Our guests loved the venue as well and kept commenting on how beautiful everything was. The location is amazing at keeping things intimate and personal, while still being able to hold quite a few guests. HUGE shout out to Dawnyel. Cannot express enough how much I absolutely love her!! She was so incredible on my wedding day, I can't recommend enough to hire her for day of coordination- TRUST ME! Vine Hill House was chosen by my son and fiancé for their wedding venue. It was a perfect choice. Dan and Dawnyel do a wonderful job of attending to every detail in the planning process, from the days leading up to the wedding to the wedding day! I was concerned about how comfortable guests would be with colder than anticipated weather at this all outdoor venue. However, there were just the right number of heaters around the dining area to keep everyone feeling perfectly comfortable. The food provided by a recommended caterer, Park Avenue Caterer, was delicious. Most importantly- the venue is truly spectacular, nestled on a hilltop, with a beautiful view of vineyards and mountains in the distance. I would highly recommend Vine Hill to anyone looking for an outdoor location for their wedding. read more

Within a few minutes of walking around Vine Hill House I knew it was where I wanted to get married. My husband loved it too but I had to humor him by going to several other places and nothing came close to the feeling we both got while being at VHH. Besides being unbelievably gorgeous while at the same time having a very rustic, comfortable feel to it, the place completely met our wish list for a venue - BYOB, no corkage fee, live music is fine, choose your own caterer, wine country setting without being at an expensive winery, our dog could be in the ceremony and on site all day, etc. even my desire for redwood trees was met! I also loved that everything is close together so the ceremony, cocktails, dinner, dancing, was all within view of each other. Dan was incredibly easy to work with, I just loved how he could easily answer all my questions because he has done it so many times and knows what works well on his property. I was not picky so that was perfect for me but I did have to insist on a few things done differently which eventually Dan agreed to :) With Dan as the day of coordinator everything went amazing the day of and I didn't worry about a thing. The use of the beautiful house was wonderful for getting ready and having a relaxing morning with my ladies while getting to enjoying VHH even longer. We made our own centerpieces that morning using their fantastic outdoor kitchen area and it made it so easy and fast. For our caterer we went with Randi from Oui Cater off of the preferred vendor list and the food and service was amazing! Highly recommend her! (especially if you are trying to not spend a fortune on food, which took quite some effort to learn) We had apple pie and ice cream instead of cake from Mom's Apple Pie around the corner and they were delicious and our guests just loved it. (Stop in for some pie when you come to see VHH in person!) We also had Goucho come up from SF for some great gypsy jazz music - highly recommend them. And Dan's pinot noir is amazing! I just made our photo album and could not believe how beautiful VHH looks. The fact that we have photos in vineyards, with Sonoma County vistas, in front of a barn, near redwoods, near oak trees, in an apple orchard, on a porch, etc. all in one place is amazing to me. Vine Hill House is stunning!! As you have probably read, Dan has everything down to a tee. You won't need a wedding planner with Dan's helpful lists and running the rehearsal. I can be a total control freak and was completely relaxed about the venue, the rehearsal and the wedding from the day I booked it. Nothing is better than knowing you are in great hands and they have you covered! My one qualm is that you have to use AMS as your DJ. You pay a premium for AMS as there is only one "Vine Hill" package created and used for all the weddings. Don't get me wrong, the guests still danced the night away and had a FAB time, but it wasn't executed as well as it should have been. The house to get ready in on the property is amazing and perfect place for the bridesmaids to gather. The venue feels intimate, but has plenty of space to hold everyone. There are ENDLESS amounts of places between the venue and the vineyards for phenomenal photos (check out Duende Photo, they are fabulous). The grounds are so nicely kept, you barely need any extra decor or flowers to make the place feel magical. It almost feel likes a secret garden. Between the redwoods, flowers, lush grass and vineyards in the background, it's GORGEOUS! Vine Hill house comes with a comprehensive package and includes all of your tables, heaters, chairs, day use of the house and more. This makes it so easy not having to find and manage multiple vendors for those items! You can also bring in your own alcohol with a no corkage fee. You do pay for two pricey cases of Pinot Noir, but the Pinot is superb and you save SO much on being able to buy your own bar items. This was definitely a selling point for us. I can't imagine getting married anywhere BUT Vine Hill House! The setting is stunning, and they keep the grounds immaculate! Our guests were in absolute awe over how beautiful the property, details, and views were! (Not to mention their wine is INSANELY delicious, and that's coming from a wine-snob!) I am so grateful we found this venue, but it's so much more than that! Dan cares so much about each couple, and all of their guests. I felt like he was either my father or uncle, that's how much I felt cared for and looked out for! There is no oversight, and he keeps the night smooth as can be! As for Dawnyel, wow! I think she is 6 women put into one body! She was getting things done I didn't even think about yet! She was beyond attentive to everything going on. She was delegating to vendors, coming up with solutions, decorating, fixing dresses, cleaning, setting up, you name it! All while having the best attitude, and constantly reminding me how fast the day would go by so that I could take in the moments! Even before the big day, Dan and Dawnyel both spent hours with my husband and I, guiding us through the process of planning our destination wedding, giving us suggestions and money-saving options, and graciously accepting and organizing a million shipments of wedding stuff from Florida! :) If you want the most beautiful wedding surrounded by true professionals that care about you like family, you absolutely have to get married here! We had our wedding at Vine Hill House in 2014. It was great! The space is a nice layout for both the ceremony and reception. We had about 120 guests, which felt great. Also, Dan has an organized plan and was great at managing the event. He was also open to change a few things around from the norm - for instance, we had a cocktail hour before the ceremony, which worked out great. I was married here a year ago and have waited to write this review as I was very upset and still undecided on my feelings towards this place. Some things were great, but there are others that I am really unhappy with. (If you want the short version just scroll to the end of the review). First, the pros; I can say that the venue is gorgeous and the price is reasonable, as are the rules and restrictions (so many other places were just a joke with all the rules they had). We worked mostly with Dan as we only met Jan once. He was very organized and very good about getting back to us quickly. His organization helped immensely during the planning process and really made things go smoothly. Unfortunately, I feel we were let down on the wedding day. Now the cons; On the day of the wedding Dan's organization seemed to fall apart. The caterers were constantly asking me questions about things that Dan was supposed to have informed them about weeks before. I was also under the impression that either he or the caterers would be setting up all of our decorations. I had told him how everything was supposed to be displayed, which he took notes on, during all of our prior meetings. Dan specifically told me that the caterers would be handling the centerpieces we had made and putting them on the tables and that he would inform them of this. On the day of the caterers came to be just before the wedding to see if I was going to put the centerpieces out. With all the other design details we were told that morning to leave them in the front room and they would be dealt with later on when everything was being set up. An hour before the wedding, as the guests were arriving, my bridesmaids noticed nothing had been done and were left to deal with it themselves. I was told not to leave the house, which meant there were a lot of things that were not done as I wasn't able to see anything until the ceremony and photos were over. This could have been a misunderstanding, but I don't know if it was. That, however, I could live with. There were 2 areas where I was really displeased. First, he snapped at my pregnant sister for going in the house to use the restroom. She wasn't feeling well due to the pregnancy, and Dan yelled at her. I don't know what was said as I wasn't there. Luckily, my new husband was and he dealt with the situation and apologized quickly. But just so it's said, it is NEVER ok to yell at a guest, especially the super pregnant sister of the bride. Also, after questioning my videographer as to why I have NONE of the processional on video, I was told that Dan instructed her to stand behind a tree at the end of the aisle so she wouldn't be in any of the pictures. The result of this is that we got none of the processional on video and the videographer is in nearly EVERY photo of people walking down the aisle. I had heard and read beforehand that Dan could be very demanding/controlling with weddings. I was ok with that as I figured most of it would be to my benefit to ensure my day went smoothly, and it was. However, I paid a LOT of money for both the photographer and the videographer and I am really angry to find out that neither of them were able to capture the processional as I wanted because of Dan's interference. I am all for him adding input that will help, but not when it means that the bride and grooms wishes will be disregarded. So to summarize, it's a beautiful venue and my wedding was amazing. Everything leading up to the wedding was definitely less stressful thanks to Dan's organization, which I truly appreciate. That being said, I'm still very disappointed about the pictures and the video. I haven't talked to Dan about what happened there, and, as they say, there are two sides to every story. I would just make it very clear what you want and make sure you communicate it to all of your vendors, and not just Dan. Just in case. But when all is said and done, I would definitely still get married here, I'd just make sure there is much better communication between everyone on the day. read more
