Kim is the coolest dental hygienist I've ever had. she takes time to explain everything. She calls you by name and ask you about your family. I can tell she cares lot about your oral health. She is thorough with her work and provides great pt education. When Kim is working on me I usually fall asleep because she is very gentle working in your mouth around those sensitive areas. The office is great, clean, easy parking and everyone who works there is always happy/ smiling. I will definitely miss Dr. Marcum but I heard Dr. True is amazing, too. read more

After years of being with Dr. Marcum I was sorry to hear that he was retiring. Dr. True has taken over the practice and she is simply wonderful. The transition for me was seamless. Nita has helped on more than one occasion with scheduling matters. Kim is a wonderful hygienist who is gentle and thorough. I have had a couple of dental issues come up recently. One was urgent; she diagnosed the issue and set me up with a local endodontist that was able to help me quickly. The other issue was taken care of in her office after using a high-tech imaging system to confirm the diagnosis. She took the time to explain to me what was shown on the monitor. My care by the back office was good. However, when it came to making a 3rd appointment for dental cleaning, with a diagnosis of periodontitis, which I am entitled to under Delta Insurance; they refused to give me an appointment. I made several calls and even spoke to the office manager. Comprehensive Periodontics has followed me for over a year for treatment of Periodontitis. I have kept all the appointments, despite the costs, since they are out of Network. The office manager at Dr. Marcum's office, where I receive regular dental cleaning maintenance, would not work with me on an appointment, despite my scheduled foot surgery, due to rigid rules. I had to go for a dental cleaning elsewhere, and will not return. read more

Grant was nice, but he gave me a huge list of work I "needed" to be done. Stuff no other dentist had ever said I had. I felt over diagnosed. I just thought it was a bit much and my previous dentist in Bakersfield had never mentioned most of it (and it was a huge place and loved revenue) His receptionist and his bookeeper were awesome. I was greeted with smiling faces on arrival and departure. I'm sure if someone came in terrified they would put a smile on their face before they hit the chair. Once I got home read this list of problems that my previous dentist in Bakersfield ever mentioned. I called and asked his receptionist to email my new x-rays to my dentist in Torrance and she was super nice about it. I was not expecting that! She even CC'd into the email that was done in a few minutes. Again I was surprised by her efficiency. What the heck, A 4 hour drive back to my dentist that I've known for more than 35 years. It's worth the trip and I trust him totally. I'll be able to be able to stay a couple days to visit old friends. Win win read more

Is anyone in charge? Dentist is very impersonal and acts like it is a bother to see you. They brought me in for an appointment but I didn't know they wanted me to see another dentist first. So it was a huge waste of my time. They made me a mouth guard that is causing me a lot of chewing pain. WTF!! Avoid like the plague. Changing dentists ASAP! read more
