It was extremely rough and more painful than anything I've experienced before. My gums were left irritated and bleeding way more than what's normal for a routine cleaning. I know there is discomfort and yea I don't floss every day, I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months and nothing compared to this visit. I usually go to brightwood dental in Atascadero but recently my insurance changed and iv paid out of pocket to come to Paso Robles dental before and thought it was great besides this visit There was also no real patient care. No check ins, no communication.. nothing. At one point I had saliva/water running down my face down to my neck and the hygienist didn't do anything until I was trying to stop her so I can clean it myself, then she proceeded to give me this 2x2 piece of gauze that was clearly not enough for the amount of spit that I had come up . That alone says a lot about the level of attention here. The biggest issue is the cleaning didn't even feel finished. The backs of my teeth didn't feel cleaned, and there was no mirror check or any effort to confirm the job was done properly. For $199, this felt rushed and low quality. I won't be back. If you're paying out of pocket, I'd think twice before coming here. I was going to book an appointment after this one to do their teeth whitening package but after this experience i will be going elsewhere. I called for an appointment and I must say that Melissa has to be the friendliest person to make my appointment and assured me that they were an in-network provider for my insurance. She made the appointment sooner than I was ready, but the pain was getting worse, so, okie dokie. Still apprehensive, I come in and was greeted with kindness, understanding of my pain and of my apprehensiveness, or should I say, "Scared to Death" of the dentist chair. I was expecting at least a 30 minute wait when I was called in 5 minutes. Ugh... My legs were like Jello. Without help, I managed to walk to the dreaded CHAIR. I was attended by Amder, an RDA. She is a phenomenal dental assistant. She put me right at ease and is very intelligent. After calming me down, I was greeted by Dr. Robles. Very friendly and helpful. He went to work on my pain and was able to fix that right away. WOW! I'm feeling great now so he exams me and tells me I have a bit of work to be done. I kinda knew that since I was trying to avoid going to the dentist for a while now. He explain every problem he found and we decided to go with a plan that would minimize the out of pocket charges. I was happy about that, and sure enough, Melissa figured out and printed me a plan that was easy to understand that minimized the out of pocket charges. Melissa is an expert on figuring out that insurance stuff, SO well organized and friendly. Overall, if your frighten of going to the dentist, I highly recommend the Oaks Dental Group. Upon retirement I starting checking for local dentist. Nearly every place I called was not accepting patients. Thankfully Vineyard was willing to accommodate me based on my availability. Prior to arrival I had filled out all the required paperwork. I checked in at the reception desk upon arrival and took a seat until I was called. X-rays were the first business of the day, new dentist wanted to get a view of my mouth. Simple procedure. This was followed but a CT scan of my head to provide a 3D image, thought this was neat, but didn't get to see the finished image. It was in to wait for the dentist, Dr. Cheema. He introduced himself, as did each of the staff. Thought they were all nice people and provided me plenty of information regarding procedures and paperwork. There dentist looked around my mouth and prodded with his tools. Looked at the x-rays and gave me his assessment. Since my insurance covered it, I did sign up for the Invisalign, but prior to that I will be back for a few deep cleanings, which had to be explained to me and to pull one impacted molar, which I knew I had but never wanted to get it removes. All in all, a great visit, very relaxed. Thanks to the staff and the dentist. I look forward to returning.

The pros - they do primary and secondary billing. Unlike other orthos I spoke to there was no "pay…read moreahead and let the insurance reimburse you". They **in theory** have a lot of availability. The cons - 3x Ive come to see the orthodontist for my invisalign treatment - and each time they end up sending me home after waiting 60+m without seeing the ortho. They have a big office, that never is bustling, so Im not sure what is the issue. If there was a waiting room full of people Id be more understanding. Avoid at all cost - any benefits to not having to do out of pocket up front was lost with cancelled visits, having to miss work etc. I am 8 months to invisalign and have no confidence its going to turn out correctly - I have only ever see the Dental hygienist, since the doctor is constantly running late and the appointments end up cancelled after waiting 45+min. Oh, and there is zero accountability or apologies. They have a 10 minute grace period (then your appointment is cancelled and they will charge you $50) that they WILL enforce, even when the dentist is running 45 minutes late.
