They were very accommodating and helpful repairing our 2017 VW Passat which was having starting issues. Another shop had put in a reconditioned alternator that left us on the roadside after a couple miles, which Vintage diagnosed as a dud. Replaced with factory-recommended brand and got us back on the road. I'm glad the wrecker driver from a non-associated company recommended Vintage Auto to me (they also have their own towing service). Our very positive experience won them a new customer. read more

They actually recommended a competitor of theirs who they found to be trustworthy and an excellent technician too. Took my Audi in for scheduled maintenance. Car isn't driven much and since I live in a fairly wooded area, families of mice decided to take up residence in the engine bay. Fortunately there was no serious damage, other than finding the mummified remains of a mouse well within the engine. Felt bad for the tech having to sanitize the area before completing the service. Traps have now been set up in my garage to prevent this going forward. Overall, very satisfied with their handling of this situation and also their suggestions for other items that needed to be addressed, items I was aware of. read more

LEMONS IN SC Sooooo, buckle up sports fans - this is gonna be a LONG post, rant, whatever... Last year in April I bought a used 2008 VW Passat stationwagon from Vintage Auto located at 605 Pine Knoll Drive in Greenville, SC. We were opening a second business, and we needed another car. Don, the owner, who has been in business for better than 30 years, assured us that the car had been thoroughly checked out & they also work on cars, so it seemed like a no-brainer. The first inclination that this was not the case, was that first few days when the car refused to stay running. Back to the shop it went. In the course of ONE YEAR, we have spent in the neighborhood of $4000 on this car. For those of you who know us, you know that we live a very busy life, and the reason for purchasing said car was because I NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET WHERE I'M GOING WHEN I NEED TO GET THERE. The car has been in & out of the shop repeatedly in little over a year. About two repairs ago, Don had mentioned to both my husband and I repeatedly that he, 'felt bad that there were so many repairs needed on the car', and that, 'he felt that maybe he needed to swap it out with another car on his lot, as this car had so very many problems with it.' Oh, did I mention that we had also told another friend about his place who purchased a car from him, as well? So....that was all that was ever said to us about his guilty conscience and/or making things right. When I went back to pick up the car after a $500+ repair, his response to me was, 'that's just how things go' and that I should, 'just take it to Carmax and trade it in for something else'. We just had a leak in the radiator fixed 2 weeks ago, to the tune of $800+, and NOW the water pump is gone to the tune of another $1200. Also, due to an earlier $1500+ repair, he told me to contact VW, and that MAYBE some of the repairs would be reimbursible. I contacted VW and opened a case file. The lovely young lady that called me back told me that emphatically, "NO WAY, JOSE- and that I might want to contact an attorney. The CHECK ENGINE light has also been on the entire time I've owned the vehicle and Don explained that he and his team of rocket scientists have no idea why.... My dad owned a used car lot for years. He NEVER would have treated a customer this way. As business owners ourselves, I wouldn't be able to sleep nights if I EVER did a customer this way. Yes, we have contacted an attorney, but have no recourse in the state of SC, so this is how I've decided to handle my displeasure and disappointment. My questions are as follows...if you have owned and operated this business for 30 years, do you often make it a habit of being shady and/or just telling your customers, 'tough luck'?! Do your mechanics REALLY know what the hell they're even doing?! After this hard learned and extremely expensive life lesson, I just feel that Don at Vintage Auto didn't really give a shit whether or not I was happy with my car, experience as a whole, and the treatment I received at his business. read more

Vintage Auto is a wonderful and honest mechanic. I am out of state and my daughter who lives in Clemson was in need of service on her Audi. After getting an expensive quote from the Audi dealer, I decided to check out Vintage Auto as an option since they specialize in Audi's. Donald and his crew were able to fix the car (AC problem) and additionally performed some routine maintenance that was needed - all at a reasonable price. This is the worst place to go for any repairs, My 18 year old son took his Jetta in there to see what was going on with the backfiring and they told him he needed a new motor. They gave him all the testing and codes on car and said that is how they came to that conclusion , I sent all the info to a VW dealership and another shop and there conclusion was new plugs and coil and tune up . Had the car towed to another facility and they repaired in less than a day for a fraction of what they wanted to charge . They charged my son $148 to diagnose and left it in pieces knowing it was going to be towed and some of the pieces fell off on the truck , The owner says they are not at fault and I will be calling him to apologize so they can repair auto . This will never happen , There customer service is horrible and they took advantage of a inexperienced young man. read more

Excellent, excellent, excellent experience. I had to have some major repairs done which the dealership advised would be too expensive to have done with them. Having passed Vintage many times over the years and seeing the old Beetles outside, I decided to give them a call. I spoke with the owner David on a Friday, and he advised me that while he was currently booked solid, I could drop my vehicle off and he would get to it as soon as he could. He was very helpful and accommodating which I appreciated on such short notice and right before the weekend. When I dropped my car off, I had the pleasure of meeting Kim, David's wife. She was also extremely personable and friendly and we had a great chat. Throughout the following week, she called and gave daily updates. Overall, the work took no later than 2/3 days. Amazing! Unfortunately, shortly after my birthday I experienced some major fraud on my bank account. This left me unable to access the funds for the repairs. It was terrible timing, and much unneeded stress on top of the car problems. I called to let Kim know and she was completely understanding. I was finally able to pick up my car today and I really can't thank David and Kim enough for being patient and understanding. They are truly kind people and I will definitely be using and recommending Vintage for all future major repairs! read more

Took my Jetta to the dealer for an estimate. They wanted nearly $800 for the rear wheel bearing (just one) and the rear break pads. Vintage Auto did the job on the same day they quoted me for $523. They were quick, friendly and cost efficient. Highly recommended. read more

I agree with the other comments on here. This place is great to get your car fixed and at the same time it was super affordable. I have a 2005 Jetta that was running terribly and after taking it into this shop I haven't had a single issue. My VW runs so smooth now and it's so fun to drive again.
