Would love for them to bring the mussels back. Was our favorite thing there! Would travel to Hickory just to enjoy them.

I liked that there was a separate room for large parties, it kept the overall ambiance relaxed. Dessert could have been better. It wasn't bad,it just didn't match the level of the food. We chose the apple dumplings.

Fourk is located in the Viewmount area of Hickory. They have a free parking lot across the street,…read moreand if that fills, there is street parking. The space is open with high ceilings. I admired the artwork. The cascading glass waterfall is what first caught my eye when I entered. Fourk has been open since 2015 and serves New American cuisine with a twist. I was warmly welcomed when I entered and got seated at a round booth with a great view, near the artwork that caught my eye. They really know how to treat single diners here, which is rare these days. I liked that I got the best table in the place, and that they didn't attempt to seat me at the bar. My waitress was friendly and incredibly attentive. She helped me select a mocktail while going over the daily specials, and she even brought me the dessert menu near the beginning of my meal so I could plan ahead. The menu had many options in all price ranges. You can get sandwiches, burgers, salads and more high-priced entrees like mahi mahi, scallops and filet mignon. I went with the daily special, which was the Oscar Filet Mignon. It came with hollandaise sauce and grilled shrimp, and that combination intrigued me. I had the Party Punch mocktail, but it was perfect with strawberries, basil, pineapple and ginger ale. The filet mignon and topping were also amazing. I even had room for dessert and knew I had to try the blackberry wine cake, and that didn't disappoint either. This was a very special meal for me, as it marked the first leg of my trip to finish visiting all 100 North Carolina counties. With the great atmosphere, service, and food, Fourk set the bar incredibly high for the rest of my journey. I might need to make another special trip just to dine here again. The murder mystery nights and the live music nights are an added plus.

I even wore my grad hat into the restaurant for the fun of it. Bestie and I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken, hers with asparagus and fries, mine with mac and cheese (no bacon). As per usual, the food was total perfection, chicken was juicy and cheesy, and Mac and cheese was ooey, gooey, and delicious! It was my bestie's first ever time at Longhorn and she absolutely loved it to say the least. The waiter who delivered our food was so nice and even took a photo of all of us with our food so that we could truly treasure the memory. To top off the experience, A waitress even saw my graduation hat and brought me a free ice cream sundae! Shared it with bestie and we both loved it. Ice cream tasted like vanilla bean and was super rich, and it was topped with caramel and chocolate sauces and whipped cream! Yummy! And the restaurant was nice and quiet too, not too loud, so we were all able to enjoy our food in peace! Longhorn, you're the best!! Thank you for this wonderful experience--and for my free treat! My compliments to the chef(s).

At the time we arrived, it was self seating, but we found a table easy and a waitress came up immediately. She was a lovely lady, polite and efficient. She apologized that the pub was short staffed but any extra wait we had wasn't noticed. My husband had the 1877 Cheeseburger with Coleslaw. The burger was super juicy and flavorful. The coleslaw was good. I had the Buffalo Bomb and paid a little extra to have it as a wrap. It was So Good. Stuffed full, and the wrap was tender. Saucy but just the right amount of sauce. I had the White Cheddar macaroni and cheese as my side and it was satisfyingly good. Honestly, walking in? I had no idea what I wanted to eat. But what I ordered and ate was exactly was I was wanting. Hah! Even the portion sizes were just right and priced very appropriately. The bar portion of the pub looked quite lively and there was an upstairs that I wasn't able to check out. The bathrooms were one-seaters, but were roomy and accessible and very clean. I definitely recommend this pub if you are in the area for a drink and some good food.

I mentioned my hubby and I would be sharing. When she came out with three plates, I was worried she misunderstood, but she actually had them split the cherry cobbler and ice cream. Now that was very unexpected, but I loved it. Multiple people stopped by our table to remove finished plates and check if we need anything. The place was like an upscale diner. Cloth napkins, but tvs showing football games. A nice bar, but they ran out of grenadine. No cherries in the Shirley temple. The mint julip was well made. Beef and vegetable soup was great, but the beef was burger. Not what I expected, but the fresh corn in it was wonderful. Black and blue filet salad was fantastic. They did not skimp on the blue cheese, it had spinach, kale, tomatoes and onion. My kiddo had the special, flounder and crab cakes. She said it was decent. Hubby lived the gumbo. I couldn't do 5 stars because the appetizer plates were dirty. All of them. All silverware and glasses were clean, but there was visible food residue on the appetizer plates and that's a big disappointment. To be honest, as someone who likes to eat fresh food, the salad was is definitely something I would recommend.

I did leave room for a warm and rich pecan pie that was topped with vanilla ice cream. Our servers Jaylon and Diana were very attentive and knowledgeable. Always kept our glasses full. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us with that kind Southern hospitality. I highly recommend Fresh Chef! And do plan to come back.
