Basically I fell down the stairs and I…read morewanted them to be safer by increasing the depth (if you are looking at the stairs it's the front to back distance of each step). All he did was use larger treads with more overhang. The *effective* depth (surface area you have to work with when walking down the stairs) didn't actually change. What I wanted would mean dismantling the entire internal frame for the staircase. He should have been clear that without changing the internal structure it wouldn't accomplish what I want. I guarantee his response is going to be something like "you knew what the job was" etc and make this my fault. People outside the industry don't know what these projects entail that's why we rely on builders! That's why I trusted him! A business owner with integrity would say okay how can we make this right but this is the type of person who thinks everything is someone else's fault. In his mind because the way I confronted him was "rude" and the fact that I didn't see all the problems initially absolves him of any responsibility for the way he left my house. Please please please do not trust him. ________end of update The project was new stairs. We agreed to $4500. Okay, great. Later I offered to buy the materials ahead of time (to get a military discount at HD) then he didn't take that off the total price which I didn't realize until like 3 weeks later. I texted him and he said because I asked him to put a new piece of ceiling trim up (he took it down to look behind it and in the process it was like basically destroyed so yeah obviously). I said there's no way that cost over $600. He responded I never said it was. So I don't understand his reasoning. Half his texts don't even make sense. Anyway I moved on to my complaints about the quality of the end result. I told him I'm mad *now* because I didn't think the final product was that bad until later when I realized just how many problems he left for me to fix. The way he responded to my concerns with the quality of his work was so immature and unprofessional. Basically he tried to gaslight me into thinking his sloppy end result is somehow my fault. Example 1: The wood putty he used around the aforementioned trim is haphazardly caked on and around. It looks like he did it half asleep. He said what did I expect when I asked for new trim at 3pm. Ok? So being tired justifies an ugly end result? Ridiculous. Example 2: The wall paneling around the stairs got damaged in the course of the job. He thinks it's my fault for asking him to replace the white trim on the side of the stairs (I didn't). But that doesn't make sense because there was damage to the bottoms of the wall panels around ALL of the stairs. Either scratches, chunks missing, or wood stain on the walls. He said to just paint over the scratches and missing chunks. I understand that there's going to be damage when you are replacing a whole stairwell but it's expected you patch any damage you do to surrounding structures during the job. He disagrees. In fact when I said that he lashed out at me saying I should have said something at the time and I'm "rude as f*ck." Screenshots of the conversation are posted.

We hired Bill to work on our deck and make it more secure. It was never bolted to the house when it…read morewas built and it started shifting away from the house and becoming unstable. Before starting the job he came to the house and did a thorough look-over of the deck and took notes. The next day I had another contractor come by to give me a second estimate for comparison. They barely looked at it, didn't mention all the things that Bill pointed out, told me they couldn't do it until 3 weeks later, then said it would cost twice as much as Bill's quote. Needless to say, we went with Bill. He started the job quickly and wrapped it up even quicker. When he was done he even quoted us on painting the entire deck, which we took him up on because painting a deck is a major pain in the ass. He completed the painting in about 2 weeks (due to weather and holidays) and it came out great. The deck required 3 coats due to the dark stain that was originally on it, but Bill didn't change the cost of the job or complain. I'll call him again if we have another big project that we need a hand with. He's a good dude.

After it was done...the roof leaked worse than before...they were notified and eventually came back and said...oh...they forgot to use the silicon deal on the seams...they came back and supposedly did the silicon sealing... Next rain...still leaking...and continues to leak... definitely worse than before their attempt to fix it. Here's the main problem...I contacted them...told them I needed them to return and fix the problem as I wanted to paint the deck...and now...the water is much worse and I can't paint it until the leaks are properly repaired.....no callback after a bit of time.callex again...no answers...left messages several times......nothing. Finally wrote them s letter which I still have a copy of....nothing...no response...ever...called once more...nothing. Weather turned to winter and I left it go...now out 500.00 dollars and my roof is leaking horribly. I just experienced another rainy day ...horrible leaking going on still but am totally fearful of hiring someone again for fear of being ripped off once again. These guys are aweful..im retired woman alone and I trusted them to take my money and do the job. I don't like complaining but my daughter's are angry now that I've told them why we can't sit on the deck when it rains as we did before these people made a small leak turn into a huge disaster...then totally refuse to get back to me when I tried to contact them over and over again....I lost 500.00... Horrible people...they sure are as unprofessional ad they come...I would never ever recommend them. I hired VIP Painting to repaint and recaulk the exterior trim and windows on the house. The siding…read morewas good (it was painted in the factory and should last 20 years), but the original wood trim wasn't. Most of it had started to peel a few years after it was repainted. Now I needed a painter who could repaint and recaulk everything.... without accidentally changing the color of the siding. Enter VIP painting. They came in and pressure washed the house, and hand scraped and prepped everything. They were so detailed oriented that not only did they make sure I knew exactly what material they used (all very high quality) but checked in on color and gloss. In fact, they also repainted the doors, metal handrails on the front door and the restained and resealed the doorstep. The house looks great and is ready to weather the elements for several more years. I can't recommend VIP Painting enough and am already telling my co-workers to hire them.

When I started the project all I wanted was a clean nice bathroom, but as we proceeded many structural needs were addressed - my dryer didn't work properly for longest time and it was fixed; when the floor tiles were changed, more insulation was put in place to prevent odors and noise coming from apartment below; the exhaust fan was replaced to the one that nearly makes any noise, etc. I'm very happy with Steven's work and will definitely come back!
