The store was organized in sections by book types. I felt most of the books were rather pricy even though it said they were 1/2 off. Some were newer, but some were not and the prices still seemed pretty steep. Vintage books are available as well, which those prices are expected to be in the higher range depending on the book. If you are in the market to get rid of some books, records, posters, cassettes, electronic players, etc then they will buy those items on the spot as well.

Long Version: I had been looking at getting into RC cars for awhile and had settled on a brand and model on my own after extensive research. Traxxas Bandit for $189 seemed perfect for me. It was reasonably priced with good standard performance and features. I was looking online but everywhere I saw one, it said "could take up to 10 business days for delivery" and I really wanted it sooner so I started looking around in town. A different store had one and they were nice enough but I didn't know the $189 didn't come with battery/charger and wasn't quite ready to spend the cash. When I WAS ready, I decided to call a Hobby Town instead because the other store was a little dirty and while the employee answered my questions, they weren't very personable and when I thanked them for their time but said I wasn't aware of the full cost and I'd have to postpone my purchase, they just kind of stared off and didn't say anything. Like they were annoyed I didn't spend any money after I took up only approximately 5 minutes of their time. Not the worst customer service but still far from the best. Norm at Hobby Town however was wonderful from the beginning. I perused their site to make sure they had what I wanted and called to confirm. Norm answered with an enthusiastic and upbeat attitude, answered all my questions, reserved the unit behind the counter for me and said "see you later" in a way that seemed he was actually excited to see and help me when I got there. When entering the store it was the same way, happy greeting and warm smile. I explained who I was and again he seemed excited. This made me feel very good about my choice to purchase here instead. Again he answered all my questions, made recommendations when asked for them and was even nice and acknowledged my children when they asked or told him something. We left the store smiling and excited to get my Bandit home and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Thanks again Notm, I'm sure I'll be speaking to you again soon!

Only thing I can say bad about the plane is it's too easy to spend money haha. The prices are kinda ridiculous for some items. Okay, I recommend traveling to the Kansas City one if you're really interested in the books, this store doesn't have a huge variety. Like I said, it is very average and the layout is very unorganized. It is hard to walk in and everything is tight there. It is also very nasty, and I expect that with carpet, but plastic and gum on the ground? The prices are expensive for most items, even though they have huge sales. The random extra items like color pencils are around 25 dollars, but maybe they're branded, but it's a little unorthodox.

I mean, I'm not trying to be rude, but it's not like this store is happening. There were maybe two customers in there on a nice Saturday day. My husband had to end up writing it out with a sharpie, and she finally made copies after he had to threaten to call corporate on her. It's just sad the amount of customer service skills that this world is lacking one day that lady will have a daughter and she will lose an animal, and I hope someone has empathy for her, because she sure didn't for us.

I didn't walk around inside too much because I wanted to go home but from what I saw, the aisles were neatly organized. The employee who helped me was nice and knew exactly what I was talking about. The prices were reasonable in my opinion. The place wasn't big but it got the job done. Good place to buy some office supplies.

I didn't purchase anything but I looked around for a while and they had a great selection of used vinyl. They were all organized nicely as well. There were a couple records that I ALMOST bought but I took a breath and put them back, lol. The employees all seemed really nice as well. I would definitely go back to Josey Records if I'm in the KC area again.

I was taking a one-way trip to Alaska and not sure if or when I would return and if I did return would I be broke, so I put my entire collection on consignment at one of the greatest record stores to ever exist in this city - Recycled Sounds. I had worked there for several years and it was the greatest experience of my life, but needed to roll the dice in pursuit of making some big money, so my vinyl became a safety net in case I came home broke or broken. I ended up returning with a bit of money in my pocket, a bit more upon return for the sale of the collection, but worst of all - no music. I built a small collection of CD's but it wasn't the same; flash forward 30 years and I've become the person that I once derided - a consumer of streamed music. The lesson for all the kids out there - don't get rid of your records. They have made a surge in popularity over the past 15 years for a reason - something physical, liner notes to read, cover art to admire... OK, so what does this have to do Josey Records??? Josey records puts me in my happy place when I go there. The nostalgia of rummaging through the bins even if I'm only there a couple of times a year buying some vinyl for the one cool friend that still is collecting records. Even though I only buy records for others now, I've picked up some cool music related gifts such as today - a music magazine and some Misfits socks for my wife. So even if you stream music, get yourself into Josey's or any local independent record store and give them as much support as you can, so there will always be brick and mortar record stores. "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone..."
