Not as positive: The only staff that was not bothered to be at work was the girl that traveled around with yogi and the man bartender at scouts table, besides them - we did not have pleasant vibes from staff. The VIB pass has potential, but no one we spoke with knew where to get the popcorn bucket filled, no one knew about the refillable drink cup and overall it seemed like there needed to be a staff briefing on these passes. The food wasn't great at the restaurant/snack bar, not a huge deal because our cabin had a way to cook some food. As a whole, we really enjoyed our time. We will definitely come back again.

That being said, it still has a small, well-kept parking area where you can park if you are looking to hike up to Mt Mitchell. My partner and I did this recently one Saturday. We got to the parking lot by 6am and were the only ones there. By the time we returned, a little after noon, it was jam packed. Perfect spot if you can get in early enough!

It was the high capacity (50 ppl and 10 cars), with flush toilets, shelters, and no outright policy against alcohol that sold me on the cradle​ of forestry campground, Briar Bottom located in the Black Mountain Campground. We camped one night at Red Oak. We had booked for two but, sometimes when you camp at the tail if the season (end of October) in the shadows of Mount Mitchell you aren't guaranteed the prettiest of weather. Getting here on those mountain roads was quite the adventure. Bring printed directions as you're going to loose cell service the closer you get. If you're headed to the group camp just turn into the camp ground, and proceed left. You'll go for quite a way but once you've reached the ford you're pretty much there. Yep, you've got to cross a creek running down the mountain side. It's tile bottomed so there's not too much to worry about. There were 8 of us that camped and it was pretty much a cold downpour (36 degrees) from when we arrived so it was a huge bonus that all the sites have shelters with space to put together tents, and put on those rainflys before staking them down. Having two picnic tables were great because they were under the shelters too. All in all I'll totally come back when I'm visiting my home state and I need a beautiful place to camp at a reasonable cost.

Big rig friendly and staff is very friendly, grounds are kept quite clean. Very easy to maneuver our 43ft Class A Coach. Checked in, they gave me the "Rules & Regs" information, car tag and things of interest in the Gaffney area. We stayed for a week in Premium site #316, overlooking the pond. Simply beautiful!! They have a couple of ducks & geese around but they were not pests. Owners have a routine schedule of feeding them. Fun to watch. There is a section for "longer term stays".... but they were quiet and those we met, as we took walks, were friendly. They have a pool, mini-golf and there are walking trails around the 3 ponds. Careful... use exit #90, the exit GPS says us sometimes closed. Advise that you call the Campground to get construction updates.

Amazing views!!!…read more Came here on a group hike and it did not disappoint! We did the 4 something mile loop from the upper parking lot to the waterfall and back to the parking lot. It is hard! The amount of incline is enough but going up the stairs after resting at the waterfall was dreadful. We survived! The views are OMG!!!!! Wow! Breathtaking at each lookout. The stone is so smooth it almost looks painted. It rained a little at one of our lookout stops and it was such a refreshing experience. Cellphone reception here is super limited and so I want to come back in hopes I'll be able to actually track my hike .

Lying in bed watching the lightning through the skylight and hearing the rain on the canvas will always be a favorite memory for us! I feel so lucky that we found this cute campground! Because of the fires there was a burn ban however it wasn't a problem. The hiking trails were very nice and everything was clear from Helene so we could access them. We were camping in our RV but there are so many great accommodations if you don't have anything to camp in. To me the best thing was the bathroom and shower! I have never been to a campground that had such great showers!! Incredibly clean and they have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in there for you to use. They even had towels rolled up in cubbies! Who has that! We loved it so much that we already booked a spot for next year :)

At one point, my sister was literally pushing me with a stick to keep me going. She asked me several times if I wanted to quit...I said, "Hell naw! I'm finishing this shit!" The climb to the summit was brutal, but the views were absolutely incredible and made every painful step worth it. I was SORE the next day, but hey... I finished!

What a gorgeous park, even in the winter time…read more Since it's winter when I visited, I can't review all of the incredible summer time water sports but I know this park can get busy then. Winter was in incredible time to visit, easy parking, a chance to chat with the staff at the visitor center, and walk around. The lake is beautiful. I've heard that this area did get some hurricane/ storm damage but everything needed to drive around is up and running! Make a plan to visit next time you're nearby. It's about 1 hour drive from downtown Asheville.

This park had an impressive visitor center and restrooms were open even after it closed, though neighboring water fountains were not functioning on a hot summer day. The trail I selected was rugged and had occasional waterside views, most notably on a footbridge that offered a mountain vista. Cell service was not great for me, and while I'd hoped to do a zoom meeting on the run I had to return to more urban areas. But if you actually want to get unplugged, the people on boats here appeared to be having a good time.

Weekday rates for the RV sites and tent sites start at 49.00 and 31.00 respectively. Weekend rates for these are also a bit more expensive. Many amenities here including a pool, camp store, and restrooms. If I understood correctly, with notice; hot tubs are available for rent. Absolutely beautiful campground to spend a quiet and relaxing time. I enjoyed this tour!

She got on lake houser ATV parks website and accidentally clicked a link for a nearby campground Broad River campground and booked it there by accident. When she gave me my surprise and I realized the mistake I immediately contacted Broad River campgrounds to try to get a refund nobody answered the phone there were dozens and dozens of messages left by family members and even the owner of lake Hauser campgrounds himself stepped in to try to help us get a refund they ignored each and every message I finally got a hold of somebody in the office today for the first time and tried to get this problem solved and I was hung up on. They still have not refunded my aunt's over $250
