In learning more from the community involved in the store I've learned he is a terrible manager and has continuously maltreated his employees for years. I just wanted to write this review in sympathy for the current employees and in hopes that Mark will see this and it will make his life a little worse.

If they cost more, it's because they are genuine rarities. There's a listening station so you can try before you buy. I listened to a bunch of records and all of them were in *excellent* condition, even the very old ones. The owner is very friendly, and there's always great stuff being played. One very minor note: The frequent buyer program gives you stamps for each visit where you spend at least $25, instead of stamps for every $25 spent. So I could come by one week and spend $100 and get one stamp, but someone who lives nearby and makes two visits that same week and spends only $25 per visit gets twice the stamps for spending half the money. Not a big deal, most record stores don't have frequent buying programs at all. Maybe I'm missing the logic behind this one?

Tons of zines on every subject imaginable (composting, gardening, witchcraft, gay/queer subjects, politics, and more). Little booklets, funky cards and books. I picked up several cheeky cards I can't wait to send to friends. They also have records, crystals/stones, tchotchkes, small decor items. I think they also do tarot in the back. And they have a cute shop cat! The store decor is a lot of fun, with mirrors, political posters, a large ram that plays on the ventilation system. There is a lot here you won't find anywhere else.

I love gems like this. This is an unpretentious, divey, hole in the wall (literally) record store…read more It is cluttered and messy and disorganized and filled with an assortment of records. And I love it. I go straight to the dollar bins outside. There are about 10-15 bins of records loosely labeled with titles such as "Classic Rock" "Jazz" "Blues". Sometimes a white sticky note will inform you that each record is only 25 cents. I have walked away with 8 records for 2 bucks. Good records! The Doors, Beatles, The Who, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, etc. etc. There are also some ridiculous options available as well, an unknown rapper from the mid 70's, another album I purchased simply because the record cover was 5 men in speedos and killer mustaches, and of course some holiday themed music. Really, can you beat listening to a lightly scuffed record, with a good whiskey, while cooking a nice meal? PS. Before making the trek here, check the hours. It closes early most days and is closed on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. PPS. They also have a selection of current music records, VHS tapes, compact disc's and the classic cassette tape, available for purchase.

With this persona reply, I can see why. I guess its more a club house than a store. The door is usually locked anyway. They're not open when they say they are. And from the looks from the window, the store is super tiny and has nothing . go somewhere else. Theres a much better comic store both on the LES and in the Bronx on Fordham road that's worth the trip.

Well, it was kind of like the Motown of Reggae Music... the biggest reggae record label in Jamaica responsible for some of the genre's most formative records. Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd was a legendary producer for Studio One, and he started this reggae vinyl store in Brooklyn to sell all his records. In fact, until he passed away several years back, he ran the counter at the store every day.
