Vinyl is a live music venue I was excited to try in a building the used to house an Applebee's, and a Bookbinders before that. When I arrived I sat at the crowded bar as a country singer was performing. She was actually pretty good, but the bar area was so loud it was impossible to just sit back and enjoy the music. The bartenders were very attentive and made excellent drinks. The Let The Devil In cocktail was a good take on the moscow mule. All the food is half price for happy hour. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, the baked potato pierogies, and the margarita flatbread. The shrimp were small and bland and came with ketchup instead of a cocktail sauce. The pierogies did not taste handmade like they were described. The margarita flatbread was the only good dish. I was glad I was only paying half price for the food. Vinyl was disappointing. I may be showing my age, as the crowd was mostly younger than me, but the noise level was disrespectful to the artist performing in my mind. I couldn't enjoy the music and I did not enjoy most of the food. Vinyl is a one and done for me. read more

Not worth the line or the drink prices. I got a gin & tonic that was not even drinkable- the tonic was fully flat - and it was way over priced so I was kind of annoyed. It also took a while to get served and there were a bunch of people working and we got there earlier in the night and it wasn't even crowded yet. The music was also not very good. I would pass on this one, I don't know why it's popular - there are plenty of better places around! read more

Heard this place just opened up in cc so decided to check it out with some friends around 12 am on a Sat night. Probably the worst club in Philly that I've been to. They had "special" guest charging $20/person cover throughout the night, and they definitely did not sound like special guests .. venue is SUPER SMOL and was super crowded so obviously the bathroom line was long, with a bunch of kids trying to cut in line, which made the line even longer since there were only ~2-3 stalls working. Overall it was the house music and the crowd that really threw me off, yall can try it out yourself but I'd rather go to blind barber (free) or concourse or NOTO for this price and better music. read more

What a cool venue! This place has an interesting vibe for sure. My friend's band was performing there. They had an area available in front of the stage so people could dance to the beats. The place has a couple VIP areas around the dance stage, as well as, a couple located a bit away. The place also turns into a nightclub after a certain hour which was a very weird transition. It went from us being able to sit at the VIP table for the concert to being told we had to buy 2 bottles in order to keep our seats. Overall this place is pretty cool to check out if you like a nightlife or live music. read more

place is incredible! The renovations are top-notch--the owner did an amazing job transforming the space. And the sound system? It knocks! Seriously impressive. The drinks were phenomenal, but the real highlight of the night was our server, Lance. He anticipated everything we needed before we even had to ask. His sales skills? Unmatched. I don't typically spend that much, but he sold me on everything except the building itself--and it was all worth it! Having grown up in and still working in the hospitality industry, I know firsthand how tough, thankless, and downright exhausting it can be. Yet, despite all that, some of us still love it. Finding staff these days is hard enough, but finding someone who is a true advocate for the industry? Almost impossible. Lance is one of the good ones. Keep him happy--he's a rare gem! read more

Is this maybe the best upscale happy hour in Philly. Amazing drinks, and $10 cocktails at happy hour with top shelf liquor. The food is also half off during happy hour and the flatbreads are big enough to share. Wednesday Vinyl Voice is our favorite night, you get amazing live music and you get to vote. Seats at the bar are in my opinion the best for service, and the bartenders are always very nice and attentive. read more

I love going to vinyl during the week. They always have some kind of event going on, which is great since I work weekends. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. I once went there unplanned and without a reservation with a group of 12+ and they quickly moved setups around to fit all of us in. That's not something I can say for most places. Also, the drinks and music are always a vibe. It's definitely become one of my staple spots in the city. read more

We went down here with a group of friends this week, the atmosphere was upscale and casual. The band was awesome and if you like lite-fare food - we were blown away by the quality and taste. I say this as I've been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. You won't be disappointed if you try the Burger sliders and flatbread pizza also try the Pierogies. I would definitely recommend this place as an alternative to the normal Philly bar scene. read more

New club for late 20s early 30s crowd in center city! It did not disappoint! This still has club energy, with bottle service, bottle girls, and DJs, but has a more upscale speakeasy vibe than the rest. They also appear to have a full and delicious looking food menu - did not order any on this trip but will in future visits! Cocktails were delicious but slightly expensive ($16 range), but currently there is no cover so I think it evens itself out for a night on the town. This place gives off NYC vibes with its dark and moody atmosphere. Unfortunately the pricing also resembles the big apple. A round of 5 drinks set us back nearly $100! Another thing that bothered me was they refused to give us water. We observed another group being served water but the staff called that a "mistake" when we pointed it out. If you like house music this place will be a good time. Crowd was mostly late 20s. read more

The cheapest drink is a $10 beer, everything gets exponentially more expensive from there on. It's nice venue with Music but no justification at all for the excessive drink prices. Just a friendly reminder we are in philly not NYC. Also despite being a place that serves food and alcohol they refused to give us water! The staff insisted we purchase bottled water! With that being said we did have fun. This place will have tons of potential if these issues are rectified. read more

Great bar and super fun vibes!!! Elizabeth is an amazing mixologist and has made one of the top 10 dirty martinis of my life!!! We left to visit other bars and came back for her cocktails! I knock off a star because they have karaoke with a band at night -- super fun and great vibes. But, we noticed the band would laugh and make fun of all the people singing and having fun. This really discouraged us and others that we talked to in the bar from going up and singing on stage. Could be an even more fun experience, but the band should learn to interact with the crowd more to make their laughter more personable or better mask their facial reactions, as it really effected the crowd and a lot of us wanting to get up and get on stage or even hyping up the crowd. read more

It seems like you could get away with basically anything in this club. The crowd was very stale and full of old people. The DJ was playing heavily outdated music, and no one was seeming to dance or be in the vibe. read more

This place is so much fun! I'm not sure about the men in black in front carding us. I'm old! I'm not sure if they are trying to be exclusive and high end. There's a dress code listed in the website. We both abide to them, even though my husband wanted to wear his khaki shorts (per website, shorts are not allowed) and sneakers. I wanted to wear my sneakers too. But once we got in, there's so many people wearing shorts! Especially men. Then there's a lady wearing tight cut off jeans shorts. Service was fabulous! Knowledgeable, polite, didn't spill drinks. The food was ok.. the potato chips I can tell it's from a bag. That was a waste of money. I love the tacos and sliders though. I would totally come back just for cocktails and music. read more

This establishment does not understand Philadelphia energy. I was out for the night with friends, in casual attire - a button down short sleeve shirt, khaki pants, and Birkenstock sandals, by no means did I present myself as unpresentable. I consider myself a late 20s young professional, and I currently live in center city, a block away from this place. Unfortunately, I was turned away because of my Birkenstocks... $100 sandals... in August... I am outraged, and it comes down to one simple fact - we are not New York, we are not Miami, we are Philadelphia. I feel that any bar that has a strict dress code to the point they would turn someone away based on their footwear alone that in no way could have been perceived to any sensible human as "offensive" has no place in our city. There are so many other ways to promote an environment of upscale class and elevation without turning away patrons based on such material, shallow standards. I have been to three of the other establishments on the same block as "vinyl" and have never been turned away. They have a clear lack of understanding for the atmosphere they are looking to achieve, it's both laughable and disappointing. Vinyl does not live up to any of its hype (if there was even any to begin with). Mind you, this location used to be an Applebees... very classy legacy. read more

Went last night for the first time and LOVED the vibe. Such a cool ambiance. I will say, the DJs they had were awful. They said the cover was $20 because they had "great DJs". All the DJ did was play the same nonsense synth beat on repeat. If they actually got good music and the energy was up this place would be top tier. Also a $20 cover is a bit outrageous. Kevin the bartender is truly wonderful and he makes the best drinks I've had in Philadelphia! The bartenders are all super attentive and I'm consistently served within 5 minutes of me getting to the bar.
