The short rib eggs Benedict was to die for and the friendly service was the cherry on top!

I wanted to like this place as it is right in my neighboorhood. We chose it for a girl's dinner for 10 people. We called ahead to make a reservation and they said not to worry about it. We asked if we could pay seperatly and they said it wouldn't be an issue. The menus we were given did not match their online menu so those who had planned ahead for diatery needs had to pivot last minute. They were also out of a number of things on the menu. As it is already a limited menu it really brougth us down to only a handful of menu options. We tried a variety of items and they were all just ok. There was nothing anyone tried that would bring us back in or come up in converstaion later as a "you know what place I tried this weekend? They had this incredible.... X that you need to go try." The items we found to be... fine, where the French Dip, Greek chicken (a little underdone near the bone), the burger. Pass on the salads. They are lackluster and lacking in flavor. When we went to pay they told us we had to pay all together no exceptions. Which we worked out, but for a bunch of young single girls that is a lot to charge to one card when no one was planning on it. Again it was fine. But there are so many other places near by that I would rather patronize. read more

I try to get to Violet a couple of times each year and often recommend it as a place to meet friends who may not like certain ethnic foods. Violet serves a traditional American lunch style menu which hasn't changed much over the last few years. Maybe a little refreshing is in order as the initial excitement seems to have worn off a bit. I had the short rib stroganoff which was good but not great. It tasted a little acidic to me and the beef was a little stringy. The noodles were good. I've had the French dip before and have liked it. Their fish and chips uses Salmon which isn't my favorite fish so I've avoided that. I do like their outdoor dining area but they really need to pull the weeds in front. I told the staff that it was looking a bit weedy and their reply was "that's above my pay grade". Not a great attitude. I think Violet needs a bit of updating and change to make it relevant again. read more

I had such a delightful meal with my husband, that I decided to bring my friend to celebrate her birthday!! We both started off with blackberry mimosas! Phenomenal!! She had the French dip sandwich and I had the BLAT sandwich!! Both were amazing!! For dessert she got a Nitro stout and I got a regular mimosa and banana cream pie! So delicious!!! We had breakfast since we were here as soon as it opens at 9am. The salad is very flavorful, the porches eggs for the Bene is perfect. English muffins felt like homemade. Nicx is great (I hope I spell the name correctly). Wallpaper is gorgeous. Can't wait to sit at the patio when the weather is nicer. There are other dishes that I want to try. Hands down the best French dip I've had! I always worry about horseradish sauce because I'm not the biggest fan, but the horseradish aoli is creamy with the perfect hint of heat. LOVED it! The crispy onion straws add a nice crunch!! The side salad was light and refreshing to pair with the sandwich. Service was excellent and the vibe was so much fun!! Came on a Sunday at 1pm and got seated right away! This is a cute place with a small interior but they have a large tent outside for more seating. Our server, Nick, was super attentive and super helpful! As for the food, everyone in my party liked what they got! Their desserts also look so delicious and we got a few of those too. What a cute spot! Ambiance: Street parking. Indoor and outdoor seating with warmers so that you're toasty. The inside was super cute and definitely aligns with the name. Service: Quick and efficient. We asked for warm water, ordered another entree, etc and they were very accommodating Food: Had the chicken and waffles which were delicious! I wish the portion of the chicken was a bit bigger tho for the price. We also got the house which was good as well. Overall, cute spot that wasn't too crowded. Neighborhood gem alert! We were on the hunt for a new lunch spot and stumbled upon Violet, tucked charmingly into a quiet neighborhood. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. We opted for the dog-friendly outdoor patio--partially covered and equipped with heaters for those chillier days. A nice touch! Bonus points for the separate doggie entrance on the side, which made bringing our pup a breeze. Always love when places think through the details for dog parents. The lunch menu is fresh, inviting, and even includes a solid selection of wine, sparkling options, beer, and cider. We kept it simple this time with good ol' H2O, but the drink list definitely caught our eye. We kicked things off with Not Your Grandma's Deviled Eggs--and they absolutely lived up to the name. Perfectly pickled with a creamy, well-balanced filling, and that little pickle spear crunch on top? Chef's kiss. Next, we shared the Kale & Romaine Caesar. Unique and crunchy, with capers standing in for croutons (genius!). I'd just ask for a little extra dressing next time to really bring it home. Then came the Prosciutto & Rosemary Pinsa--yes, PINSA, not pizza. The crust was perfectly cooked, and the rosemary aroma was heavenly. Crisp, savory, and deeply satisfying. Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions. On our way out, we peeked at the dessert case (yes, we're already planning our return). You know when you're just craving a good classic BLT? Yeah, Violet hit the spot with this craving. It wasn't overly complicated and came with everything it needed to, plus the A for avocado. I was the only customer on a weekday afternoon for lunch and there were about 3 people working, all whom provided a warm and lovely experience. The decor is super cute and makes you feel like you're invited into a well-decorated home. I love how the restaurant is situated in a neighborhood because it adds to the homey atmosphere. We were looking for a lunch spot between dentist and medical appointments in SLC, and what an amazing find Violet was, thanks to Yelp recommendations! The menu is perfect for us - my husband eats meat, while I do not - and there are plenty of meal options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. We ate outside on the pleasant patio, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and delicious food (hubby = B.L.T.A. and me = Violet Harvest salad), along with the attentive & personable owner. It's in a very odd spot. It sits on a very residential road. Ambiance is just ok. It has a nice outside but the inside seems very awkward. It's not warm or comfortable and it has an awkward last supper painting with dead rockstars. Food overall was good but the chicken with the Greek salad was kinda cold. It was warm. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be hot or cold. Could have gone either way. The desserts were good especially the berry cobbler but they were served in odd Dixie cup like paper products. I would like my deserts in a real bowl or cassoulet The best part was the service. They were so kind and wonderful and did everything to make our meal the best it could. A wonderful neighborhood establishment. I wanted a hamburger and my wife was game for fish and chips (nothing fancy for a Wednesday quick bite). Both were prepared perfectly! We split an entree, had one appetizer, a glass of wine and a soda, and one dessert and it cost $92 with tip ($77 before tip). Such a cute restaurant! My favorite color is violet, so the name by itself caught my attention. When I came here for brunch, I ordered the eggs bene which may just be the best I've had. The hollandaise sauce was absolutely incredible. The whole thing was delicious and I really appreciated the little violet sprinkles on top. As I looked around me, I noticed some violet drinks and other foods with violet sprinkles. I just love the whole violet theme! The outdoor seating was lovely and the service was wonderful. Great outdoor patio spot with lots of shade. The service was awesome! Super friendly and attentive staff. Clean and well decorated inside. They have a special dog entrance if you bring your fur baby. Lots of vegan options. The fried zucchini was amazing!! I wish I would have ordered my own instead of shared. The rest of food is where it fell short for us. We had an enjoyed a pleasant meal here recently out on the patio. Even though it was a hot day, it was covered and there is a fan. They have live music a couple nights a week, which sounds fun. We were greeted with hospitality and the service was friendly and made you feel like they appreciated your business. Here's what we had: French dip lived up to the hype and hit the spot. Fish and chips were plentiful and crisp. Vegan BLTA was good. I secretly wished the bread were more exciting (perhaps softer and thicker sourdough) and the mayonnaise (even though we asked for regular and not vegan mayo) was not to my liking. That said, I liked the abundant tempeh and would give it a go again with the mayo on the side. It comes with fries or salad. The salad was simple but good. Expensive tasty lunch with a unique menu making it hard to choose what to eat. I ordered the Sausage Kale Soup (because I was hungry), which surprisingly came out nice and hot. The menu said it was in a creamy broth. It was more broth than cream. A nice light soup. Next I had the House Quiche, it came with a side of mixed greens with a vinaigrette dressing. As far as salad dressing goes..they didn't ask and I forgot to ask what options they had. I like my dressings on the side because most of the time salads are drenched in too much dressing, but this side sald was almost the perfect amount. I wasn't a fan of the House Quiche. It tasted old and barely warm. The crust was hard, heavy and cold, not warm and flaky like most Quiches are. The egg part was fine (but barely warm). Chilaquiles with scrambled eggs were what my daughter had and The Big Mock Burger with Bacon and Fries is what my grandson had. I asked how his burger was he said it was his 2nd favorite burger. Pearsecco came in a CAN! Who in the world drinks a Pearsecco in a can... Not Me! Why didn't they warn us their drinks come in a can? Here is your warning their drinks come in cans. Drinking out of a can changed the taste. Just nasty. My grandson had the Big Mock Burger. I asked him how it tasted and he said good, it's my 2nd favorite burger of all time. When we were driving home we were talking about our lunch and my grandson said he ended up not liking the burger after all because half way though he said it was burnt and he couldn't finish eating it. So I guess the burger got knocked off his most loved burger list in the valley. Not Your Grandma's Deviled Eggs were an after thought. They were fine but you could tell they weren't that fresh. They have such a unique mouth watering menu, I think if we go early next time we will have a better experience of having the food come out fresh, and now we know drinks come in a can, we can just have water. read more

We stopped in for a business meeting about six months ago. We loved this quaint little place in the heart of a neighborhood. The service was on point, and the food?! So delicious!! On Halloween we needed somewhere my son could get some real food in before the crazy that comes with nine year olds. He said it was the best pasta he's ever had (except mine haha!) the server was fun and entertaining. He brought out a delicious side of their red sauce in case the butter noodles weren't doing the trick. Good call! That sauce was divine. Since my first visit ive already been back at least three times. This cute little restaurant is nestled in a neighborhood with an adorable outdoor patio thats shaded with lots of ambience and plants. The inside has a very funky wallpaper & last supper mural. I love their jerk chicken pinsa with ranch for dipping. They have consistently great service and quality to their food. I love all their fun soda flavors as well. They have a small baked goods section thats ever changing with fresh new pastries and goodies post meal. I'll definitely continue going back! read more

My husband and I have been to Violet 3 times and each time it's been wonderful! The service is awesome and the food delicious. We have had fish and chips, jerk chicken pasta, beef stroganoff - all delicious! I used to come here pretty often when it was named Stratford Proper. I haven't been since it was renamed. I was a bit confused when I looked up the location but I recognize the interior, minus the new wallpaper. In the past, it was one of my favorite places to eat. Sometimes they would have multi course meals with wine pairings as well. I've moved away but I'll forever have fond memories of this amazing little spot. read more
