We were a group of 7 on foot deciding where to eat in the area and said - hey there's Mexican! We stepped in a long, narrow dining area with cool decor. I couldn't tell if it was going to be cheap or overpriced. Turns out its right in the middle! It was a nice sit down lunch with a great menu. Everyone ordered different things and we all really liked the place! They have a good selection of classic Mexican food and have great salsas!

Trivia: What's the name for a older tortilla soaked in salsa? (Hint: read the delightfully informational menu) Sort of bummed they don't have iced coffee. Or cold brew. But they were very accommodating with the cafe de Olla and cooked it down and placed it over ice. The Ribeye and Eggs and hash was a gargantuan portion for the price! Perfectly cooked steak (a delightful marinade, I think). The hash was maybe, probably, the star of the show. Great seasoning. Good mix of corn and herbs. Not too salty. A good mix of soft potatoes and slightly crunchy. Plenty of hot sauces and TERRIFIC service. Food was out fast. And while you wait, the art and decor was so fun to look at.

I had the pozole and a margarita on the patio with my dog and it was delightful. My server was great, attentive but not too attentive.

A fun new Mexican place located in an old historic home in downtown Salt Lake City. We watched this place being constructed and it appeared they did a lot of renovations to this old building to turn it into a restaurant and we were so glad we checked it out. Reservations are available and on a busy night I would recommend it since the place is small until better weather opens up their patio seating options. They offer a full bar so you can enjoy some good libations with your meal. We started with the Queso Fundido. Wow. It came out sizzling in a skillet and was a fun presentation. The flavor was average but still a nice start to our meal. We then ordered Victor's Famous Tamales and Grilled Chile Lime Salmon. The presentation of these dishes was so nice. It's definitely Mexican food with a twist. The tamales had a great flavor and just enough of a kick but not over powering. Served with a side of rice and refried beans were tasty. The salmon looked so beautiful and served with jicama and roasted corn which was a fun twist. After our meals were served Chef Bear even visited our table to see if everything was satisfactory. He shows that he cares about what he is serving at Piko. Parking is very limited at Piko as there are only a few spots in front of the restaurant. Otherwise public street parking is the option nearby.

We've been driving by for too long and not trying it yet. Today we finally go in. Perfect little sit down Mexican food. Brunch, lunch, drinks, TV's for game-days. We had the chorizo queso and chips made fresh, carnitas burritos, Horchata, kids quesadillas, and the Birria tacos. We loved it all. Only thing I didn't like was the mango habanero salsa. Pretty sure there was no habaneros in it and it had zero spice. Maybe just an error. The service was great. Quick to sit and quick to get drinks and food. I love the inside atmosphere. Great murals and music. Like the sitting and TV positions. They don't distract if you don't care but everyone can see them in either direction if you do want to watch the game.

I live nearby and have been driving by the "opening soon" sign for a while so I was looking forward to giving Piko a try. The restaurant is small but it makes for a nice atmosphere. You get one wall that is brightly painted with the other being full glass doors, so it never feels cramped. The service here was also good. We were able to place our orders quickly and the food came out even faster. I got the set of three tacos which were perfectly adequate. I think the main drawback to ordering tacos at a place like Piko is that you can get them for half the price, and sometimes done better, at a few different places within just a couple miles or so. I tried three different meats; pork, chicken, and beef. All of them were good though the chicken a little dry. The side of beans and rice was nice and made sure that I wasn't hungry by the end of the meal. I'll come back since I live fairly close and want to try something that might be more of a specialty.

This small locally owned business is a must try! The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was so welcoming and quick! We saw it driving by looking for a new brunch place to try and had to stop and try it, we for sure will be back again to try the dinner!

Our waitress Kelsey was extremely kind and helpful, and I would recommend asking for her specifically if you visit!

The paintings on the walls is this place are beautiful! The food is very minimal- our fajitas only came with meat, some veggies and the tortillas- no salsa, cheese, sour cream or guac. You have to pay extra for chips and salsa. The servers were nice.

    Chicken burrito

Mom took me for my birthday, I had the piko chicken burrito and Mom had chicken tamales, both were excellent, one of the best chicken burritos I've ever eaten, and the service was 10 out of 10

Chicken tacos -- you cannot mix and match meats.

I have been sooo excited for a taco spot to take up this vacant building in the neighborhood and looked so forward to the opening. Cute decor, nice staff (a little unknowledgeable about the menu) and their drinks looked good but their food was overpriced and lacked flavor. My friend got the chicken tacos, which she said were good and I got the chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas didn't have any cheese so it was just sauce, tortilla and shredded chicken. They also didn't allow for any mix and matching with meats, which I always look forward to when going to a Mexican restaurant. I might consider trying it again once they have a few months under their belt.

We ordered the seasonal Hot Chocolate parfait: Mexican-style chocolate pudding, raspberries, warm spices and scratch-made chocolate wafers. Calling it pudding almost sells it short. The texture was light, whipped and closer to mousse, while the raspberries cut through the chocolate perfectly. It was indulgent without feeling like a brick after dinner. We shared one, which was financially responsible but emotionally questionable because neither of us really wanted to surrender the next bite. Then we met Parker, the owner, baker and designer behind the whole concept. He spoke openly with us about relocating from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, taking the leap into entrepreneurship and the challenges of building a small, independent multicultural business around a dessert category most people think they already understand. What struck us was that the creativity was not limited to the menu. Parker's personality is all over the space, from the name and playful branding to the colors, presentation and wonderfully odd idea of turning pudding into a destination. It feels personal because it is personal. I looked up Parfé Diem afterward and discovered that it has been named Utah's Best Comfort Food, won both Food & Beverage Business and overall Business of the Year from the Utah Black Chamber, landed on Yelp's Top 100 Local Businesses and earned national recognition through Daymond John and the NAACP. After spending time with Parker and tasting what he has created, none of that feels surprising. Salt Lake City has plenty of places selling cookies and ice cream. Parfé Diem created its own lane. That deserves attention, especially when the result tastes this good. Five stars for the dessert, the originality and the human being behind it. We will absolutely return, but next time I'm ordering my own.

So of course my wife and I were looking to soak our sorrows in some home-baked pie. So parking was pretty easy around the corner along the street. The pie shop is this long kitchen attached to a super cool thrift shop. That was closed since it was like 8:45pm. We decided to go with the strawberry rhubarb, key lime and apple cobbler. They're essentially little hand pies, like the size of a pop tart. So getting three seems good for two people if you like pie a lot, like we do. We also added two cups of ice cream to go. The girl helping us was nice and engaged conversation when we asked about the thrift shop. Solid service. Once we go home, we heated up the strawberry rhubarb and apple cobbler for one minute. That wasn't long enough so I'd do 1:35 next time. That would ensure the ice cream would melt a bit more. We started with the key lime pie; oh my ... it was epically delicious. This was as good as key lime pie we had in Captiva and The Keys in Florida. Then we dove into the other two. The strawberry rhubarb was 75% crust and 25% filling. I'd love to see more filling there. Compared to a grandma's strawberry rhubarb; it wasn't on par. It was a 3.75/5. Next up was the apple cobbler. A classic. It was pretty much what we expected and so was more on the 2/5 scale. We started so strong with the key lime pie that the bar was set high. Overall a good experience and the night ended on 3 empty cardboard containers filled with crust, melted vanilla ice cream and happy tears of our daughter's new journey. Don't fight it; try the Pie Fight.

Their fruit-shaped creations are little works of art--so realistic it almost feels wrong to eat them... almost. Each pastry is fresh, light, and packed with flavor. The pistachio was incredibly tasty, though definitely on the richer side, so it's one you might want to savor slowly. The raspberry had a beautifully balanced sweetness with a vibrant, delicious filling. The lemon was very zingy--almost intensely so--but still delightful if you enjoy bold citrus flavors (just maybe not an entire one in a single sitting). The standout, though, was the mango. Easily the winner. It had such a bright, powerful flavor, and the fresh mango inside made every bite feel special. Everything about it--from taste to presentation--was just beautiful. The only slight letdown was the macarons. While still good, they didn't quite match the intensity and uniqueness of the pastries and felt a bit underwhelming in comparison. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you appreciate creative, high-quality desserts. It's clear a lot of skill and care goes into every piece.
