I have been going to Alberto at VIP Alterations for the past 4 years. I'm extremely particular about the way my suits fit and I've gone to many other tailors before I found him. Alberto is not only a true craftsman, he is gifted in that he makes suggestions based on your own personal style. I've often times gone to tailors and told them exactly what I want and they usually don't understand because they aren't well versed in modern fits. Alberto is knowledgeable and when he makes a suggestion, I trust him entirely. He's even changed the way I buy suits, and advises me which cuts can be faulty. He is patient and does not settle until you are happy. I trust Alberto completely. His wife Martha is a sweetheart and his entire team is very nice. I have sent many people to him and everyone has had nothing but great things to say. Go to VIP Alterations, it's worth every penny.

Thank you so much VIP Alterations for customizing my Prom 2k16 dress. I highly recommend for fast and efficient results from professionals!

I had a great experience shopping here, and Jaden was incredibly helpful from start to finish. She…read moretook the time to show me several different brands, put together complete outfit options, and made the whole process feel easy without being pushy. Unfortunately, the other employees didn't seem interested in helping and were mostly on their phones or chatting with each other. Jaden really stood out because of how attentive and knowledgeable she was about the different fits and styles. She also helped me find the correct size in a pair of Japanese denim that I probably would not have chosen correctly on my own. Excellent customer service from Jaden, and I'll definitely be back!

This was easily one of the worst customer-service experiences I have ever had at a shoe store…read more The employees gave me shoes that I did not ask for, and when I went back to return them, the store refused to refund my money. Instead, they only offered store credit. That makes absolutely no sense when the return was caused by their mistake. I did not change my mind about the shoes--they handed me the wrong pair. Why would I want store credit at a store that already proved it cannot handle a basic purchase correctly? Giving me credit only forces me to spend my money there again, which is the last thing I want to do after this experience. The manager, Jan, made the situation even worse. They were rude, dismissive, and acted like they could not understand a very simple explanation. I had to repeat myself several times, and the conversation felt like I was trying to explain basic customer service to a teenager. Instead of listening and taking responsibility, Jan kept talking in circles and showed no real interest in solving the problem. A competent manager should understand that when the store gives a customer the wrong product, the customer should not be punished for it. Jan showed no accountability, no empathy, and no ability to handle a straightforward return professionally. Their attitude made it clear that keeping my money was more important than treating a customer fairly. This is a no-name shoe store acting like it is some luxury boutique, but the service does not come close to matching the attitude. People would honestly be better off going to Payless. At least there, you would probably get the shoes you actually asked for and deal with employees who understand basic communication. The entire experience felt cheap, disorganized, and unprofessional. They made the mistake, refused to correct it properly, and then treated me like I was the problem. I would not recommend this store to anyone. Check every item before you leave, because once they have your money, they apparently do not care whether they gave you the correct product.

One of the best boutiques ever. There are locations in Calabasas, Studio City, Del Rey, Westlake,…read moreVentura, and Agoura Hills. The stores are limited to Southern California; so, when I first moved to Los Angeles and began to explore (shopping is an activity that I just can't help but do everyday, whether I had it in mind to do or I had a full day in my "planner" ...actually, back in 2007, I did have a big "At-a-Glance" planner with an entire page per day... Anyway, I stumbled upon the Calabasas Commons because I had looked up in that app, "Around Me" and found that close to one of my three jobs I worked while going to School for my Doctorate, the Calabasas Commons was on my way home from work to where I lived in West Hollywood. I stopped by right away because it mentioned a Barnes & Noble being one of the stores there. First, I spotted M. Fredrick. I saw those gorgeous, hand-picked by their buyer. I didn't realize quite how much less expensive ever was in LA compared to San Francisco. Now, this many years later, it's no longer a thought nor a thing because I've lived here so long, but it was astonishing to me back when I was freshly 22. I picked out about 20-25 pieces of the most beautiful jeans, sweaters, shirts, shoes, tank tops and dresses. I also bought a pair of sweatpants that felt like thick silk, but mostly, like a white tiger- they were the first thing I bought the next morning on my break from work; so, I vividly remember that they were $600 before tax, which, to be honest, I did think they were on the pricey side, but I didn't think of it again. The many items I had purchased the afternoon prior came to almost $23,000, but I never ever in my life looked at prices of anything, so, it was no thing and to this day, I remember probably 7/8ths of what I bought. The clothes were definitely worth it and I would do it again, even now. The only problem is that they don't make clothes how they used to. We don't have the materials or aren't willing to use them on designer boutique clothing. Every chance I could, I went to an M. Fredric store for the next 10 years.

La La Land Cafe and the ice cream spot are our usual go-to places. Lately, the construction has taken away from the experience a bit, but I am hopeful that once it is finished, things will be even better. I just hope the updates are thoughtful and not simply focused on adding more retail, especially in place of something like the movie theater. It would be great to see additions that truly serve and reflect the community. For example, a fountain with a water show, similar to what you see at the Grove or Americana, would be a strong starting point. People and families already feel overwhelmed by the number of shops, and adding more does not necessarily improve the experience. Take Century City Mall as an example. After its remodel (many years ago) added many more stores, I personally stopped going. As someone who works in marketing, I know the first priority is getting people to visit. If visitors lose interest, as I did with Century City, then adding more shops defeats the purpose. I really hope they do not lose sight of what makes the place special. It would be a shame if short-term decisions ended up hurting the atmosphere that people enjoy.
