It is too easy have a bad experience at a car dealer, but these guys may actually go out of their way to make it even more unpleasant. I have not been treated so poorly at a dealer in ages, but Vanco, and Mark Medalia were terrible. If you are Filipino and you think Medalia is trying to get you the best deal, you are so wrong. He should be ashamed for how he treats other Filipinos. After being told he WOULD not ask the manager to do a little better on price (I already had a better price at OPEN ROAD HONDA), he called me to say he got @500 more off. If he had done that before saying no, no, no, and treating us like we owed him something, I would not be writing this review. So, after I went to OPEN ROAD HONDA to but a new ACCORD, I called the sales manager to let him know my feelings about the experience. I wanted to see if it was the sales man, or the management. Vanco is really a piece of work. I have never had someone (even a car sales man) act so poorly. If it were not for Alex Jr. I would say this dealership has ABSOLUTELY NO REDEEMING QUALITIES. I had an issue with the roller on the sliding door of the van purchased here. Under warranty, the service department replaced the roller, now 2 months later, this roller is broken again and causing a safety issue with the door. After asking Robert Poland, the service manager to repair the door again, he insisted that I'm opening the door to hard and it's my fault and he won't back up his work and repair the faulty roller that his service man originally repaired, unsuccessfully. I now have had to file a complaint with the Honda corporate offices that are investigating the case and have told me that they honor a 12 month repair warranty on all their work. So now I must wait until Honda corporate tells VIP Honda to repair the work that they had done poorly in the first place. It seems that Robert Poland has no problem passing the buck or pointing fingers at everyone but himself. read more

I purchased a used Honda from this dealership over the summer. It was by far, the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The one and only reason my husband and I even went through with the purchase of this vehicle was because the price we negotiated was extremely good. Now, let me say that that reason it was good was because they kept making mistakes and had to give us more things for free. We found a listing on line for the vehicle. My husband called the dealership to make sure it was available and he was told it was. We made a trip down to the dealership (we live over an hour away) with a 1.5 year old in tow. When we got there they took forever to find the car. As it turns out, they didn't even have the car. It was a trade in that the previous owner had not yet dropped off. So needless to say we were pretty aggravated about making the drive and sitting for over an hour to find out the car wasn't there. They did assess our trade for a reasonable price so we were informed that they would call us in 3 days when the car was in. 3 days came and went and we never heard back. I finally called them and was told they still didn't have the vehicle. The following week they called and said they were going to have it that evening. My husband and I got a sitter and drove down there. Guess what? They STILL didn't have it. They sent a sales rep to the previous owners' home to deliver his new car and bring back the old. We waited about a 1/2 hr and when it finally arrived it was the WRONG color and it was damaged in the front and rear bumper. We were told that the car was "perfect". After about two weeks of negotiating, talking to the sales manager, the general manager, getting the vehicle Honda certified for free, getting the bumpers fixed, and a whole lot of headaches we were finally going to pick up our car. We were told by F&I that they could beat the APR we were given by our bank. So we decided to finance through them. Once we got there we were then told they couldn't even MATCH the rate we were given by our bank for the terms we were looking for. I couldn't believe that we had gotten this far and were still having issues. We ended up getting them to match our bank's finance terms. Like I said, the one and only reason we did purchase this car from Open Road Honda was because the price was much better for a certified used than anywhere else we had looked (and was looking for three months). I had a terrible experience when buying my car from this dealership. First of all i went to Honda on 03/13/2019 the sales representative Luis Cubi was pushy to make the sale. They offered great prices at first, then he said i needed to give him cash in order for him to switch my auto insurance over from progressive to geico so it can be at a lower rate. I was able to walk out the dealer with my new car only for them to call me the next day saying something went wrong and i have to re-do paperwork because of an error on their behalf. They told me my payments would change from$380 to $590. The sales rep Luis C even went as far as suggesting i get a second job or do lyft or uber so i can afford to make those payments. He told me to think outside the box. I've had a Very bad experince .I would not recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from this place at all. read more

I'm very disappointed with my purchase at VIP Honda, I purchased my daughters 1st car a 2005 Honda Civic we left the dealer with it and so far have been back with issue a total of four times. They released the car to us without doing a thorough analysis of the vehicle. 1. The car was sold to me without the gas gauge and trunk being having the ability to open, car went back 2. Then the car released a gas odor and when it rained the trunk got wet again, car goes back 3. This is all taking place within 30-days of purchase. 4. I return back with the vehicle they correct all issues confirmed the car is good to driver and I should not have any other issues. 5. Again today when my daughter drivers car to school check engine light comes on. 6. I'm not a car expert but I came to VIP Honda because a previous buyer confirmed it would be a painless experience especially when purchasing a used vehicle, unfortunately this is not my experience 7. I'm so disappointed with all the issues the car is having my daughter has barely been able to driver her car due to all these issues. This is for their service department only... My car purchase experience with Ali was wonderful and I would buy another car from them. If you go in for an oil change, and your service advisor tells you you need expensive work done on your car, get a second opinion from a trusted mechanic. They wanted to sell me new brakes to the tune of $500-600, and I didn't need them. I'm not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere that the sales people in service departments get a commission on the service work they sell. Anybody know if this is true? Probably the worst experience I've had with buying cars. I love the car yes.. But it's been 1 month since I've had it and they've changed the amount of the payments per month 3 times, making me resign papers 3 times. I was also told I'd get a call 2 days before the temporary license plates expire to go pick up the new ones, and the license plates expire today and I have yet to hear from them about the license plates. They have nice cars, and when you first buy the car everything goes great, but after that, it's all just a big mess. The people there are nice! BUT they seem to be unorganized. read more

Went to look at a 2013 Highlander with a buddy of mine who happens to be a car broker. Sales person started out OK, took car for a test drive and actually liked it. When we got back and began negotiations everything went downhill from there. Salesman put us on pause to talk with another customer, didn't ask just put us on pause. Salesman made his pitch, things went south when my buddy took his 4 square sheet (the salesman worksheet) and began writing our offer on the back. Sales guy lost it, you can't do that, thats my official paperwork. We say calm down guy its just a worksheet and we're writing on the back. Vehicle was 21.8K we offer 21K, noting that the vehicle had to be jumped to start, needed tires, and had several scratches on the right rear door. Salesman says the 21.8 was the lowest price cause it was the internet price. Took it to the manager came back at 21.4. Problem arose with my trade value. Value is about 16k, was willing to do 14k. They offered 12k cause of an accident showing on Carfax. I explained there was no airbag deployment a deer hit the side of the car. Our offer came up to 21.4k but needed at least 13.8k for the trade. Salesman is angry now and says we're overvaluing trade and attempts to prove it by showing us the car value on KBB except he can't use the computer. I pull it up on my phone and low value is $15,145 for my Outback. Now he's pissed (cause we were right) and doesn't want to negotiate or talk any more. He motions to his manager to kill it and we leave, but leave our offer and contact #. I know that got tossed. The whole experience profoundly impressed me with it's lack of professionalism and the dealers unwillingness to engage a customer. Dealerrater gives VIP 3 stars. I think they must have written their own ratings because it was one of the rudest interactions I've ever had. If we can't agree so be it, but the raising of voices and dismissiveness was unforgivable. I understand now why they have cars on their lot that have been there 100+ days. By the way that car broker friend of mine normally deals with BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes, he was equally appalled, stating that the sales guy wouldn't last a week in one of those dealers and in fact probably wouldn't make it much longer at DCH who he deals with for Honda. If you want to be ignored and treated like crap, this is the dealership for you! read more

This is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. They are unscrupulous. Upon agreeing to a price for a used CRV I went to sign the final paperwork. After reviewing the contract multiple times each time finding some fee that had not been agreed to I finally gave up after the contract had been revised multiple times. Each revision I was given a poor excuse for why I had been overcharged. Upon the last review I finally gave in agreeing to pay the window etching charge. Keep in mind this charge is initially paid by the original owner of the vehicle. The only positive thing I can say is; that I had my 19 year old daughter with me and she learned a valuable lesion on how sales people with unscrupulous business practices can potentially take advantage of you if you don't do your homework or just sign on the dotted line without full review. read more

Stay away from these bait and switch jerks! I received a low quote online for a 2013 Civic LX with a particular VIN, called and spoke to the internet sales manager Andie, and confirmed that the car was available. I asked for an "out the door" price and received an email that showed all of the additional charges with a total of $18,300 from Elios. I called Andie again to confirm and she said yes, yes please come in and you can buy it for what the email showed. I was there in about an hour. The showroom was empty. Now the fun began... They said yes, we have all of your information, please sit down, would you like something to drink, etc. We sit down and the salesperson Alex said "we have to get the car before we can do any paperwork..." so we started to wait. After 15 minutes of nothing, I asked how long this will be. They said that they have 5 lots and it just takes a little while to retrieve the car, so we waited some more. 30 minutes, 45 minutes, finally an hour later, they bring up a car. Alex says "oh, we just sold the car your quote is for, but this one is almost identical except that it's $1000 more because it has pinstripes." I was furious at this OBVIOUSLY SLEAZY tactic. I asked to speak to manager Andie who I had spoken to just before I came. Sure, but I would have to WAIT SOME MORE because she was "on the phone" probably setting up some more bait and switch deals. I walked out. Bottom line: they will give you a low low low price online, but YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUY THE CAR FOR THAT PRICE. DO NOT BELIEVE IT. read more

Don't buy two cars, two extended warranties, and play in full here! Because after that you need to watch them like hawks. After years of servicing my car basically with no problem, I one day saw first hand them try to rip me off big time. I purchased two cars, same exact cars except for color difference, and one is going to another dealer for location issues. All of the sudden no heat out of the one car, this family member takes it to a Honda dealer and they tell her it is a known problem and it is a big job but they will have it straight, just come back on early morning side of day. She did this, all fixed no problem. I a few weeks later begin to have the same issue. I return to VIP HONDA where I paid in full for two cars w warranty. I told of the problem and I even told the guy at the desk the other cars story. Well next thing you know they are telling the repair is $400 dollars to do. ON A CAR W EXTENDED WARRANTY WELL WITHIN LIMITS with a problem deep in the dash preventing heater to work! How is a problem deep inside the dash board, known to HONDA and every other dealer, not covered here over at VIP HONDA? Well needless to say I didn't pay anything for the repair. Currently, they basically threw a hissy fit at me bc I didn't want my trans fluid replaced (did it last yr same dealer!!!) & basically they service tech was like, "Well if trans blows up, it might not be under warranty." Screw off buddy my trans is running like a top and should it even sneeze it will be covered under the warranty i paid in full for! So I let all of them have it once again. They tried to act like me sticking up for myself and my car is causing a disturbance. Well by the end of it lets just say I didn't even have pay for service once again, so I guess couldn't been that much trouble. No they think they are going to insist on ppl doing something and then if you don't want to, they insinuate your car will have problems. This is probably the worst of the dealership I have ever been. Don't ever trust what the Sales is saying. The PM called Phil is not honest. Make sure you have everything they promised in front of you before you walk away. The service is okay. Even they claim they have the number one service compare to the dealers near by. I really don't know where the statistic is from...My family has cars from Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. This service is probably the poorest one. I was contacted by this dealership after inquiring about receiving further information on a used car. Jeannette Macpherson called me and seemed nice enough, but because I live about 2 hours from the dealership I wanted to get photos of the vehicle because on their website they didn't offer photographs of the actual vehicle. She said sure and she would get back to me. About 2 days later she called me back to inform me that she sold the car that day (2 days after arranging to get me photos, which she never did) and too bad. Unlike many vehicle repair experiences I always look forward to a visit to VIP Honda service center. The team here is friendly, knowledgable and they take the time with each customer to ensure you understand service scope, problems, cost and time to completion. The entire team customer team Gwen, Ted, Phil and John and the service technician staff behind the scenes always impress me with their customer at center focus. I had a gear grinding noise in my vehicle; they had a technician (Sam) go for a ride with me and he spent a good 15 minutes working to identify the problem. Upon returning he discussed the solution and the service team worked out cost that was acceptable.. Even though I often work from their comfortable wifi cafe munching on the complimentary bagels, Danish, coffee, juice and water they often offer me a loaner so I can go about my day. Their wifi is good so I am able to work right from the cafe, very convenient. This is the best it gets! read more

I wouldn't even give this one star if I could. I recently went with my mother who was hoping to purchase a new Honda. My mother brought up that she was promised price matching via the phone, and there was another dealership locally (a little further away) that offered a lower price. We were told by the salesperson politely that it may not happen. However, when the manager showed up, he was EXTRAORDINARILY RUDE. He flat out accused my mother of lying and said "be honest, say you went to another dealership, can't get the low price you wanted so you came here wanting a low price from us", which was completely untrue. He also would not believe us otherwise and kept on saying we are lying, that we think he is stupid and how we probably already went to 5 other dealerships trying the same thing (again completely untrue). The manager eventually stormed out of the salesperson's cubicle after basically berating and yelling at us for 5 minutes. Well guess what, we left too. Now my mother has purchased a new Honda from another dealership that was almost $2000 cheaper (the price we were hoping VIP Honda would match), and with much better customer service. read more

I just completed the purchase of a used certified 2015 V6 Accord Coupe leather and Nav. Researched on consumer reports, scoured multiple online cars sales sites including hondacertified.com (gives you every Honda within specified radius). No carfax, nix car. Read many Yelp reviews about various dealerships, bait and switch tactics, advertised cars not being there after long rides to go see. Happened to me once at Lodi NJ Mazda. Learned my lesson. And I called in advance. Lowest of low. Thereafter requested text picture of vehicle to prove it was there, or spoke directly to manager to insist they confirm it was there. Every reputable sales rep would take my number, go physically confirm car was there and call back. Insist you'll be traveling a long distance and don't want to come for nothing. Enough tips. My point, I'm a real buyer, not a false great report for dealer. About VIP. Used car sales rep, assistant manager Nato indeed confirmed car was there. Could not have been more personable and knowledgeable. Took the car for test drive. Loved it. skeptical about very low miles. Explained it was their dealerships loaner. Still smelled new. Got down to negotiation. This is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. We agreed to a reasonable, reduced from internet, price. Usual wait for manager response. When signing papers two additional fees arose; $299 etched glass for security fee, and $450(+/-) dealer doc fee. Effectively what I'd negotiated off the price Got up, said I'd have to think about. Stepped outside with my son. Perhaps one should know all dealers charge a doc fee (which google confirmed they do)(google also indicated the average in NJ is slightly more than half their fee,and that it can't be negotiated, every customer must be charged the same). I'm in financial sales and must disclose up front all expenses and fees. They do this all day and take those fees for granted. They should not and should disclose them up front. Went back in, and said not paying etching fee and want price of car reduced by half of doc fee. They reduced price by etching fee, wouldn't lower it any further. Chose not to walk away from sons first car for $200. Post sale follow up couldn't have been more pleasant. My sales rep was away (told me he would be), two other reps (whose sale it wasn't)(Rosemary and Ramon) helped to confirm car was ready for pick up and delivery. After a slightly longer wait than I'd have preferred (less than a hour)(it was a Saturday post end of month), Finance manager who was also most personable), expedited the final steps. No pressure for any add ons, my son got behind the wheel of his first car, (thank you daddy), and we were on our way with an almost new, used V6 coupe. Last observation. I don't doubt one star responses are from people with really crummy experiences, but by cross checking with dealerships I know personally (that also received one stars) I've come to the conclusion the majority of those who provide reviews had bad experiences. My 2003 Honda Odyssey had been making a funny whinny sound and not generating sufficient power while starting from standstill. After tolerating it for a few days, I took it to the dealership. They told me that they would charge me a $100+ fee for running diagnostics and will adjust it against the actual repairs (if I chose to get it fixed with them), Since this seemed to be the SOP, I agreed to it and asked them to proceed with the diagnostic. The person from the dealership called me in the afternoon and said that my transmission was slipping and the only way to fix it was to replace the transmission and the charge would be $5200. Of course, I don't have that kind of loose cash lying around and told him that I would live with it as long as it lasted. A couple of days later, while discussing this with a friend of mine, I was given the contact of another garage which specializes in Japanese cars and asked me to get a second opinion. Thanks to him, I took my car over to him and within the test ride, he was able to pinpoint the problem to a leak in the exhaust system causing the noise and the loss of power. The transmission, he guaranteed was running perfectly. Upon further look, he found a hairline crack in the exhaust pipe. He replaced the small portion of the pipe for a mere $200 (labor included) and the van is now running beautifully. My entire faith in this dealership is completely shot and I will never ever go back to them again. I figured that I am nobody special and they must be doing this to many other gullible clients and I need to tell them my story. read more

Terrible customer service. In short, the used car sales manager was seriously one of the rudest POS' I've ever had to deal with. I contacted VIP Honda without ever seeing any reviews on Yelp; once I saw all the bad reviews after the fact, it all made sense. I'm not going to go into any of the details of my bad experience because, quite frankly, its pointless. The bottom line is that they suck and the bad review after bad review is proof! There are many bad reviews on here for a reason....its not a coincidence people. If you can give your money and your business to someone else, do so as they are undeserving of our hard earned money! Oh, one last thing, the ONLY saving grace this place has is the nice receptionist girl that answers the phones, Marjana Stokes. She was extremely nice and helpful. Then they ruined the registration process, sent me back all my registration papers the day the temp tags expired, and forgot to reimburse my taxes which took 15 calls and 9 voicemails to get a response. Once there, they didn't honor the internet quote and tried to play games, including offering a low figure for my trade in. This is the worst dealership I have ever stepped foot in I would never recommend ever going back there again The service sucks the management sucks my car is broken and I have a two year warranty and they sold me a car that was modified and now since no one was getting back to me I went to the Better Business Bureau and now they are trying to find every way not to pay for it this is the worst place ever read more

Terrible service all around. When we purchased our New Honda CRV, the sales person and the GM were so rude and were shocked that we didn't want to take the CRV that had squeaky right passenger door and was kind of insulting us. Then when they finally prepped another CRV, when we sat w/ the Finance guy, he made many errors and was trying to rip us off by adding things that we never authorized or approved so thank god, we caught that. Then I finally had it and spoke w/ the GM (who's useless and very very rude). After I advised him that I knew the owner Bill Vince. I did write a letter to Bill Vince and the GM contacts me advising that he realizes that we had a very bad experience (to say the least), he offered us an EXTRA 2 YEARS OF SERVICE, on top of the already 2 years of service included in our purchase deal and advised me that he would write it in my account BUT NEVER DID. After my the original 2 years ended and spoke w/ the service person and the new GM, which is just as bad as Adam the previous GM that never even wrote it in our account, he refused to honor the deal. I even forwarded him something that the previous wrote. He has Anco, sales guy that was part of the people we dealt w/ during our nightmare 2 years call me and he knew that we had a lot of mistakes, rudeness during our purchase, he refused to honor the 2 years that were granted to us by the previous GM. TERRIBLE DEALERSHIP AND VERY BADLY RUN. IT'S NO WONDER VIP HAS TERRIBLE REVIEWS AT YELP. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! read more
