We called to see about getting a smog check here because our friends told us that they've been taking their vehicles here for the past year and couldn't be happier. The guy who answered the phone was very polite and courteous, and told us to bring our two cars in. We showed up about 8:30 in the morning, he was busy with a project, but stopped what he was doing to help us. He took his time, answered all of our questions, and had us out in no time. I requested a price estimate for a smog check through yelp and got quite a few responses from different shops. Jamal's price quote at VIP Smog was the most affordable but a little out of the way for me. Luckily I was in the area one day and decided to stop by without calling in advance. I was greeted by Jamal and he helped me right away. I gave him my DMV paperwork and within 15 minutes, my car was checked and ready to go. The shop is located on the main street of pacific and he was kind enough to reposition my car to make it easy and safe to leave the lot without having to reverse out onto oncoming traffic. So my 2018 WRX needed its first smog check and I was looking for a reliable smog test spot in Long Beach. I used Yelp to message most of the local spots for quotes. Jamal/VIP Smog was the quickest to reply to multiple messages and questions I had posed in terms of scheduling and availability. Upon researching the overall positive reviews and noticing his professionalism I decided to take my Subaru in for a smog check. An appointment wasn't needed since he and his team worked very fast/efficient. There was only one person getting a smog before me but it was pretty fast/efficient so my wait time was quick as I only had to wait 10-15 minutes. For my own smog test, it only took 15-20 minutes as well. He was quick and to the point and very professional in person as well. Can't say enough good things about this place. After a very disappointing encounter with another SMOG shop earlier today (review also posted on them), it was a breath of fresh air to find this station. I called them at 5:15 on my way home from work. To my surprise they immediately picked up the phone and said they would be able to accommodate the smog test even though it would be near closing. They were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Not only that, they were considerably less than the others. The other shops told me it would take an hour minimum, but they completed everything in half the time. Definitely an A+ experience. Highly recommended! read more
