I stopped by Gallup, NM in search of some delicious enchiladas for my dinner as a pit stop for my 2hr drive from Albuquerque. I decided on El Charritos, and it was my first time trying this establishment! I was greeted by warm and welcoming customer service, and I had the option of choosing my own seat. My waitress was extremely warm and vibrant! She laid complimentary chips and salsa out on the table (the salsa was the bee's knee's btw), and then proceeded to take my order!!! I ordered Christmas enchiladas (red and green chili), and I waited patiently as my stomach roared like a lion!!! The enchiladas came out, laden with red and green chili sauce, guacamole, rice, refried beans, and sour cream, my goodness!!!! I took the first bite and my head got to rolling and my eyes were lit up! These enchiladas were pure paradise! Let's just say that this plate looked like it was fresh out of the dish washer after I was finished with it! Check this place out, the staff is very upbeat and free flowing, and the chefs infuse the food with love and a mighty soul essence! Cheers to good eats!

Passing through Gallup we were craving Mexican food so we stopped off at El Charrrito. We were served right away and service was great. My husband had the steak burrito which was delicious and I had the stuffed sopapilla which I would rate 7; didn't have a lot of flavor but was very filling. The salsa was exceptional and I enjoyed the tortilla chips also.

The Hamburger Steak is served like an enchilada plate; covered in guacamole and cheese. The enchiladas were good also. This was a nice pic enroute. Off Route 66. The chef let us try the Posole.

    Shredded beef tacos! So good.

Everything was delicious. My friend had a schwarma sandwich in pita, which she enjoyed. For dessert, the baklava was not homemade but they had 2 kinds of imported, and we tried both. They were tasty, though not crispy. The Turkish coffee was strong snd hot, not too spiced. Definitely eat here if local, and skip the chains!

Gallop New Mexico…read more Thank you for being so friendly! Right when we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly girl behind the counter. She asked if we would like to eat in or takeout. We chose to eat in. We were told to seat ourselves and then she brought us some silverware, rolled in a paper napkin and some water. The restaurant is clean, other than the floors that could use a good mop. The majority of the restaurant are booths with a few tables and chairs centered in the middle. I ordered the lentil soup with pita, and my husband ordered the chicken Shawarma sandwich. The lentil soup came out right away with a large pita. The lentil soup was hot in temperature butt did not have much flavor. It wasn't bad it just could use a bit more spice. I also prefer my lentil soup to have a bit more texture. The lentils seem to be more of a purée. The pita was extremely disappointing. It was more like a soft hardtack. Very dry. Very thin. No flavor. My husbands sandwich was fine. The chicken had good flavor, as did the sauce. But again the complaint is the pita. Too dry and flavorless. The french fries were slightly undercooked but had good flavor. Aria was our waitress. Very sweet and kind. She made our experience here. The service is quick and efficient. The food is appropriately sized. Overall, I would give this place 10 stars for Service of all their employees. I would give six stars for the soup. I would give Six stars for the sandwich and fries. And the pita bread gets a one. I hope they can find a new recipe for the pita and the overall stars would be much higher.

When we arrived at 6:30p the parking lot was packed - and on a Wednesday! We waited for about 20 minutes and then were seated. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which is served with warm baguette slices - perfection. For entrees we had the meatball linguine and the chicken Parmesan- meatballs are house- made and were so flavorful, chicken on the parm was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Entrees are served with a side salad and their ranch was to die for- so thick and creamy. For dessert we had the chocolate gelato, which was the cherry on top of the meal. Yum! The place stayed busy until we left around 8 - a big party was waiting to be sat. The staff are very hard workers - they were busting their butts all over the restaurant for the duration of our meal. Our server (we didn't get his name, unfortunately) was wonderful. Highly recommend, and if we're ever back in Gallup, we'll definitely grab another meal here!

We were served undercooked pizza--twice--and it completely ruined our dinner…read more On the very first bite, I could feel that the dough was sticky and raw. When I checked the pizza, it was clearly undercooked, so we sent it back. We expected it to come back properly cooked, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. When the pizza was brought out the second time, it was still doughy and undercooked. I took photos of it, and they show multiple different slices--all of which had the same raw, gummy texture across the entire slice. This was not just one bad piece. Because of this, we didn't even get a chance to actually eat the pizza. That was our dinner, and we ended up leaving without being able to eat it. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. The manager insisted it was "ranch sauce" and claimed the pizza was cooked thoroughly, which is simply not accurate based on both the texture and appearance. I was also told I was the only person to complain, as if that somehow made the issue invalid. Regardless, we were served undercooked food--twice. They offered a $5 discount on a $21 pizza that we couldn't even eat, which did not feel like a fair resolution. Very disappointing experience overall--not just because of the food, but because the issue was dismissed instead of taken seriously.

Saw a guy eating a sopapilla outside said it was good and there were several people outside waiting so we were like ok it's gonna be good. Ordered the Sopapilia covered in red sauce because it was a popular choice. Sadly, I was disappointed. I think it would have been good by itself no sauce. Just a sopapilla by itself. In sauce was too much. The red sauce did not taste homemade. If it is I'm sorry but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The kids drummettes were fried and tasty. Other than that it was just another diner. We did meet others who said they frequent but knowing true Mexican food, it's a no go for me. Service was ok. Ambiance Diner feel. We met a guy who said there was a cafe town the road that he preferred I don't remember the name but at least I know I'm not the only one who did not enjoy it. He was also from Cali so there you go.
