It was an exceptionally brilliant idea. The place has a phenomenal staff (especially Opie). They were welcoming, personable and knowledgeable. They had a deep experience with wines that helped guide the experienced wine drinkers and an empathetic approach to those (aka, me) who were clueless. I (ahm, the inexperienced) were never intimidated or given the snob treatment. However, my brother who knows his way around a bottle or two (or at least actively tries to fake it) was given the appropriate insights to what he was drinking. Across the ten of us, we tried multiple different wines and they were all well liked. Many made their way home as people had to take some bottles home. You can tell that I'm an amateur because the whole "flight of wines" thing was new to me. It was brilliant to sample many different varieties in what I would call shooters to the great disappointment of my brother. Yeah, I told you he acted like he knew what he was doing. They also gave us a brief tour of the beautiful grounds as well as a look "behind the scenes". I would really recommend visiting in the fall and maybe seeing things in action. The drive is a bit "way back there", but I highly encourage you to take the trip. It's definitely worth it.

I understand that I am 21 years old, so that may make me look suspicious to a cashier. The level of straight up disrespect I received at this establishment was unacceptable. I went in and put my alcohol on the counter and as I'm pulling out my wallet out of my pocket she says "ID PLEASE!!," in the most disrespectful tone, with a raised voice like she was a cop or something. She then proceeds to stare at me for a solid thirty seconds to a minute as if my ID is fake or something, or I have used someone else's. I give her the money in cash and she literally threw my change at my hand rather than handing it to me like a normal person. I genuinely cannot believe the disrespect that this woman had. She was blonde with long hair blue eyes and middle aged. I am appalled at the treatment I received here. If you look younger I would suggest not going to this establishment, unless you want to be treated like absolute garbage.

TONS of different wines- from all over the world (including the US). Very basic to very unique wines. You won't find many bottles that are priced high (most were under $100 that we found). The store also contains a huge cheese selection- we picked 6 different ones (you can sample them at the counter) and loved every single one. They also sell beer, champagne, meats (salami, prosciutto, etc), chocolate, honey, jams, cigars, crackers, and more!! You can put together a charcuterie board with ANYTHING you can think of!! They also sell cute knick-knacks and gifts, such as wine openers, napkins with fun sayings, and cutting boards! Most weekends they do wine tastings (only ask for a donation to the Humane Society). Absolutely love the store owner- she chatted with us for awhile, helped us pick cheese and wine, and was just all around very friendly! Blown away by the quality and quantity of items in the store, and the customer service! Where to start my review of this truly horrible luncheon experience. What they do have is a lot of different types of beer. So I guess if you just want a beer with tasteless food then this is the place to go. My friend and I had lunch at around 12 noon. There were literally only four other tables with a few people. Our waiter came to take our order and basically gave the impression that he wishes he was anywhere other than in this restaurant working. Not even a smile or a hello how are you doing? He was truly uncaring and answered us in half syllables when we had questions about the menu. OK whatever -/so we ordered a burger and the turkey Gruyère sandwich. At $19 for a burger (most other places in Blowing Rock charge around 12) and another 19 for a turkey sandwich you would expect at least french fries or coleslaw as a side. The sides are potato chips ( how cheap can you get) or green beans?????? if you want anything else like a side salad or fruit you have to pay an additional five dollars. Literally every other restaurant in town that serves sandwiches or burgers gives you a choice of several sides that come with the meal . But here a hamburger with a side of fruit was $23. Our waiter never came back to check on us, but another waitress did come a couple times and filled my tea glass with ice and asked us how everything was and brought samples of the beer. Thank you to whoever that was. Wish you could have been our waitress. Because our waiter was so unconcerned about waiting on us that he apparently forgot we were there. After a half an hour of not receiving our food in a restaurant that was mostly empty, I flagged him down and asked him what happened to our food. He said he would go and check on it. He came back and said that ours was the next ticket up.!! so basically this waiter held onto our ticket and then got reminded that he had to actually put it in for us to get our food. So we waited another 10 minutes. The burger was so tiny you practically needed a magnifying glass to see it. Burned to a crisp because of course the waiter also forgot to ask how we wanted it cooked. We like it medium rare, and definitely not charred and well done. The Turkey sandwich with Gruyère was just some turkey slices and I'm assuming gruyere cheese which I couldn't really taste. The whole sandwich was definitely forgettable. So that's my review. I still gave the waiter 10% tip, which he did not deserve. He did not deserve a tip at all. Needless to say, will never be back at this restaurant again. Nor will I ever recommend it. Because lunch for almost $60 for two people with two disgusting sandwiches was obscene.

This is definitely the friendliest liquor & wine shop in town. They have the largest selection of wine w/ the best prices in Jefferson City. They also have tastings & run specials. They have a great selection of liquor & beer and have just about any mini bottle you could imagine.
